  • We compare a pair of 2024 Mazda CX-50's; the base GS-L with the top-trim Meridian.
Do you really need the Meridian trim with a turbo engine and some fancier features, or does the value-packed GS-L trim provide plenty?
(Yes, you can opt for the mid-trim GT and opt for a turbo engine.)
We also compare the non-turbo and turbo engine for driving dynamics and the fuel economy/mpg are closer than expected.
With only $10,000 CAD between the two, it's not as easy of a choice compared to some competitors.

I have the same color in the non-turbo also. It’s a really nice car!

    Great review 👍
    Awesome job Mazda.
You guys offering naturally aspirated engine and Turbo engine. The Turbo model for consumers that wants to lease a vehicle and naturally aspirated engine for those folks that wants to buy it right out.
Common sense people will buy this vehicle. Quality is outstanding and looks like Lexus quality.

Same here. I tested the nonturbo and the Turbo, and at the time I didn’t feel the turbo was that much powerful enough. And maybe daily living would probably make a difference, but I’m satisfied with the nonturbo.

I wanted to see this new interior colour which is only available at the base model and I’m glad you guys has that option 😍

Wow! Interesting that you get that two-tone tan interior on the naturally aspirated CX 50 in Canada we don’t get that choice in the United States. It’s only the black interior!

I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning and they keep getting better and better. I like the detailed discussion about trim levels, value and which ones you would pick.

cool vid. just bought a CX50 Premium (USA), base engine, moon roof, 17 inch wheel, most o the goodies as the Premium Plus (USA), which has a bit more tech but the 20inch wheels...20 inch wheels a bit 'better' driving sporty on pavement, but rougher of road, low proifle, and a lot more $$$ to replace with slightly poorer gas mileage...loving it so far!

Dang! Your Meridian package in Canada is much more specked out than our meridian package in the US

I was confused, I’ve been doing my homework and went to a few dealerships. The US has more trims and better options. The lower trims have nicer darker cloth interior. Mazda should have kept trims the same in both countries.

Which Mazda CX-50 would you pick between the base GS-L and top-trim Meridian?
