  • I recently stumbled upon this little memento. The electronic GODZILLA (1998) children's bank put out by TRENDMASTERS back in the day. I got this for my birthday twenty years ago--great, now I'm feeling old--and some good memories were channeled seeing it again.

Anyone else ever have that Iron Giant electronic bank where you put the coin in his hand and the button makes him dump it into his mouth?

Que guapa está esa figura. Por si sola sin activarla funciona como una buena figura en un diorama para tenerla expuesta

I really love the stock scream effect

I still have mine from when I was 3 and has been on my shelf forever! Didn't know this was from Trendmasters, though.

They were behind a large quantity of the Godzilla '98 toys, and consequently took a major loss when they failed to sell.

I think I had one of the Trademasters Godzilla 1998 large figure.

I am so jealous of you right now it's not even funny (JK! It IS! 😂)! I had a few of the Trendmasters figures, but this bank wasn't one of them. The 'screaming people' sound effects are a nice touch. 😊

I had a feeling this would interest you! Hahaha! Interestingly enough, this Godzilla bank has always felt much closer to the Japanese Godzilla than the one in the movie. It stands upright, it's actively knocking over buildings, clutching a helicopter in its hand, etc. It's like the '98 design just with the personality and posture of the Japanese monster. Very interesting.

TheUnknown837 Huh. Now that you mention it, that IS interesting. Perhaps Emmerich, Devlin, and company should've taken a cue from Trendmasters (😄).
