    The reason Andy left is because all the band promised to do all of their own stuff and music like they used to, they did with Astronaut but as soon as he heard the were bringing in Justin Timberlake and Timberland and they were writing all the songs.
    If it wasn't for Andy then they would have had no lyrics for songs as he and simon wrote the songs together.
    They are doing a new album and Simons had to ask for help writing because he's had a block. Or is it coz a certain somebody is missing?

    I always thought of Roger Taylor and John Taylor were the driving beat of this band and Andy taylor was held back like a caged tiger. He finally got the opportunity to show his talent as a Lead Guitarist in The Power Station and while doing songs for the soundtrack of the movie American Anthem. New Wave music of the 80's rarely gave guitarists a chance to step front and center. This was in contrast to the days of solos in the 70's. U2 was probably the exception to the rule as Edge did so.

    • @Rascallucci
      @Rascallucci Před 7 lety +4

      Well, that depends on whether you actually went through and appreciated the New Romantic era. Most of those bands really wanted to stay away from guitar unlike American music which was seen to be boring and stale. New Romantic was supposed to be trendy if you will, so it wasn't really a matter of whether the bands really wanted to give the lead guitarist a chance per se, it just wasn't a sound that people liked nor wanted. A lot of the New Romantic bands were synthesizer-based such as Ultravox, Human League, Depeche Mode, etc. While Duran Duran was not as electronic as some of those mentioned bands, still lead guitar was never a big thing in most of their music. U2 was different, they were a rock band, they weren't a New Romantic band even though they came out about the same time.
