  • A stash of gold coins valued at upwards of $10 million that was found by a California couple buried on their property may be the haul stolen by a San Francisco Mint employee in 1901. The U.S. Mint does not plan to investigate. Bill Whitaker reports.

    I guess the headline should read "$10 million gold coin haul may NOT have been stolen from mint".A great example of click bait at it's best.

      @@mitchk2140 If the state uses coercive means to obtain its funding, and taxpayers don't voluntarily supply it, the money was stolen. Representation has nothing to do with it. Democracy is two wolves and one sheep voting on what should be for dinner! Perhaps I am greedy, perhaps we all are greedy but, that still doesn't entitle the government to money that they didn't earn!

    • @iowasenator
      @iowasenator Před 3 lety +2

      @@mitchk2140 How? What happens if someone does NOT pay the taxes the government thinks it is entitled? At some point, the government will impose fines and ever more penalties. Later, they will seize your home and any other assets it wishes in order to satisfy your "obligations". They may decide to throw you in prison. In other words, this is not VOLUNTARY. In short, they force you to hand over money and property that you've earned. They didn't earn it; you earned it. If I were to do this very same thing to you, I'd be guilty of theft. If it is illegitimate for an individual, it is illegitimate for a government.
