Snow & Santa Special 2023 on the NYMR - NYMR didn't like the ORIGNAL video!

  • This is an reupload of my video as looks like the NYMR put a privacy complaint in for my original video where it shows staff with a petrol can trying to unfreeze the points. Even thou this was done live over the webcam, and the staff knew I was filming it seems the management have put in this complaint as I had an email from the marketing manager. So basically to warn you all, if you ever see staff breaking rules at the NYMR it's your fault if you have video or pictures.
Saturday 2nd December I visited Goathland on the NYMR as they were running their Santa Special trains. Also what made is special was the North Yorkshire Moors had recently had snow and was a perfect scene setting for the Santa Specials.
Things didn't go to plan as the first train from Grosmont was cancelled, then the second train was delayed leaving Grosmont. After it had arrived at Goathland, more problems as the points on the tracks had frozen due to the cold snow. This delayed the return service and the rest of the day's schedule from Grosmont.

Perhaps they were hoping that all the attention on 'Flying Scotsman' at Shildon for Christmas, no-one would notice what they were doing...

Bear in mind that if you film people acting illegally or irresponsibly, and they can be identified, then they may be prosecuted or disciplined based on your filmed evidence.
As an NYMR volunteer of many years I have been aware of volunteers being injured and one passenger killed because of people not following rules or using common sense. Health and Safety matters can be a bugbear and a frustration but are designed to get people home and intact at the end of the day.

I watched the NYMR's staff "antics", on the Goathland livecam, attempting to defrost the points, with a petrol can - not impressed, with their "elf & safety procedures"! 😮 😊

This is what I mentioned in my appeal to You Tube. All I got was a email from marketing manager asking me to call. I replied to his email asking how I can help as don't really like calling people and nothing. Next thing video removed. Now I could have cut that bit out rather than it being removed. NYMR showing their true colours now. I've also heard many stories from people who used to work or volunteering on the line how bad they have become :-(

@@railway_photographer There was a flood the day I visited - the train to Whitby was held (by Network Rail) at a flooded crossing near Sleights. We eventually returned to Grosmont, and I spent the rest of the day trying to get to Pickering to get the bus back to York and a train home. After waiting for hours for the service bus at Goathland with some fed-up locals and other stranded would be NYMR passengers, a rail replacement coach was spotted in the nearby car park and we made our escape. Thanks to the NYMR management for eventually sorting out the very comfortable coach. No thanks at all for their appalling communications - not just to passengers, but also to staff and volunteers who were doing their best but clearly hadn't a clue what was happening as they hadn't been told anything. I have never heard so many negative comments from staff and volunteers before, and I've volunteered at heritage railways, a museum, a psychiatric hospital, and a theatre.

Was it petrol or was it anti freeze, which would make sense.

To be fair, he was a bit cack handed with that Gerry can.
Reminded me of Reg Prescott, the Kenny Everett character.
Best not to have the HSE sniffing around. 👍

@@thewelshtraingeek4895I would think they would do what ever it took if I posted elsewhere to have it removed. Sadly they have the money and power if wanted to take legal action where as I don't. I won't be deleting the original version, that will remain in my archive. I never know if or when I may need it. Sadly the management of the NYMR never like criticism or anything negative.
