Thank you for your advice. I can agree with you that it is a roll of the dice on getting an upgraded cabin. There have been times I tried to figure out what is the correct bid amount. Now I know, just bid. Everyone has their own method of what the “ feel” will be the winning number but don’t agonize over it. Do it once and leave it alone. If you are happy with your cabin, then all is good! If you win, then yahoo! Same thing if you get a scratch ticket at the gas station - first step is just doing it.
We have noticed it comes at varying times depending on the ship and capacity. Typically, 2 to 3 months ahead of time. Right after the pay in full, no refund, date which is 90 days before embarkation.

We did a royal up on anthem and we started with a junior suite and bid on a grand loft suite for a bid of £140 each and won it was a bargain.

Great tips - I'm going to try this for my Symphony cruise next year. At what point should I get the option to royal up? The cruise is May 2023...
