She truly has endeared herself by out pacing many who sold more records than her.

I have the same issue with my vocal cords as Joni did back then. In 2017 my otolaryngologist (ears, nose and throat doctor) discovered what he referred to as "singer's nodules" (I'm a singer, songwriter, producer). He put me on vocal rest for six months due to the severity of my nodules. At the end of that time I went back in for another checkup, only to discover there was barely any improvement. I inquired about surgery, but he refused because apparently it's considered a liability issue by the hospital. Essentially they're afraid if they botch the surgery and I lose my voice, I'll sue them. So they won't do the surgery for anyone. To this day I still need it because the vocal nodules are still there. Not a pleasant situation!
