They did this song as a mirror image to Queen for a reason. They didn’t change anything on purpose. Some songs should not be remixed. This is one of them

I have seen reaction videos from a few singer's perspective, and It helped to understand some of the vocal aspects, but seeing from a beat boxer's perspective is really awesome too. It's hard for me to hear exactly what is going on with Kevin as there is so much more going on, plus it's hard to hear all the sounds he makes sometimes.... And Kevin is just incredible ... you also have so much talent and when you mimic what Kevin is doing I am just at a loss for words! Thanks for giving your perspective and explaining what is going on with Kevin. Regular untalented (musically) people like me need help understanding this phenomenon....

you should check out their less produced songs like the "evolution of" medleys or something like "Gold" that show all of them going through the song in one shot and one take. Kevin's beatboxing really shines in those and you can watch what he's doing the whole time.

Thontor yes his beatboxing in all their evolution videos is so good with the constant tempo changes throughout. Evolution of Ariana grande, Rihanna, Michael Jackson or Beyoncé are all great.

Your overlay of the snare that should have been used was totally on point. It kept the music going like in the original song. There was a brightness that just added to the energy of that moment that was lacking before.

I absolutely love this reaction!! It's refreshing to have a beatboxer who knows and is passionate about their stuff to put in input on Kevin's portion. There's a lot of singers out there who can comment on the other 4 but a lack of beatboxers to give context for Kevin. Kevin is my favourite member of the squad and I thought your constructive criticism was really insightful and added depth and alternatives. Your comment and example on the snare switch-up, for example, I thought was really interesting!

This was shot live on a residential street from about 11 PM to 6 AM. That’s why you see the cold fog from their mouths at times and the lane strip on the street. Also, you can see a short view of the lights from a house way in the background. Go get the Behind the Scenes video to see how it was shot.

Congratulations!!! 👏 I I am so excited for you! You deserve to be featured on that channel! Thank you for sharing that with us I am so excited for you! You have to just be thrilled right now! What awsome news for you to get when everything is bad news lately! Wow! 🎉 👏
Regarding the reaction, specifically the guitar solo..
Until just a few days ago I thought that they had not added any Distortion in the recording because Mitch goes from singing straight into the guitar solo using the same microphone he sings with when they perform it live. it sounds the same as the video to my untrained ears. HOWEVER, much to my chagrin, I saw an interview with Kevin a few days ago in which he started he'd had an idea that it would be great to use a certain thing to add a tiny bit of distortion to Mitch's voice for the video. I was really disappointed to hear that because I prefer that they keep it pure... but realistically I know that when people edit things they tweak it but Pentatonix likes recorded versions of their music to be as close as possible to how it's going to sound live as because acapella is all about being able to do it live. they don't want the fans to be disappointed in the live version compared to the recorded version when they pay money to come see them. So they try to avoid layering of the same voice over itself and doing too much editing because they can't duplicate that sound live with 5 voices on stage and no track playing in the background.
So, what you're saying about them using something for distortion I now know was what they actually did. and it was Kevin's idea.
I don't know what to say except they tried to stay as precious to this song as they could without changing it up because they said it is simply too Epic and they have too much respect for the song. They also said it was a very difficult song for an A Capella group and they put off doing this cover for years in spite of us fans constantly requesting they cover it. They consistently repeated that they wouldn't even attempt it unless they thought they could do it any justice out of respect. And I think they still apologize before they perform it live because it is a hard song for just five voices when there are so many intricacies and instrumentals in this epic EPIC song by Queen, and they have the utmost respect for that fabulous group and for Freddie (He is Mitch's Idol when it comes to male vocalists. His female vocal Idol is Rihanna.)
This is one of the last official videos they made before Avi left the group. Last bit was just an FYI.
I honestly like the sound of the snare that you were hoping he would have used near the end of the song. It's so interesting hearing a beatboxer talk about but Kevin's doing and give feedback because this is a first for us as fans. Most of us know some things about singing but we don't know anything about beatboxing and so Kevin gets left out of the conversation except to say how awesome he is but we don't have any point of reference as to what he's doing. Thank you for giving your input and giving an example because I appreciate the honesty and we did come to you asking you to listen to this and give your input so thank you!

Reach out to Kevin on social media, man. I'm sure he would love to hear what you have to say about the technical side of the craft. When he was on the show they won, The Sing Off, he was known for colabing with other beatboxers, jamming with them, learning from them, as well as teaching what he knew. So, yeah, don't feel as though you can't reach out to him.
Also, congrats on your shout out. I'm not much into the beatbox community, but I can tell from how amped you were about it that it means a lot. You deserve recognition, that's for certain. I know that making and posting videos on here isn't easy, that it's a lot of work, especially if you have anything else going on in your life.
I love hearing how great and amazing Pentatonix is, and we fans of their hear it quite a bit. I enjoy hearing, almost as much, the little things that could have made the performance better. The little flaws that I might not have noticed until someone with skills I don't have points them out to me. So, if you have an opinion on technique please never be afraid to give it. I may not agree, but I, for one, will never get mad at your for having it. ( In this case though, hearing you beatboxing with the song was freakin awesome!!!! )
I'm heading off to check out the video of you on Swiss just as soon as I finish this comment. Great, great video, wonderful host, and a really fun time.

Daft Punk is great, New RulesxAre You That Somebody, Problem...lots of other stuff too, but those are the ones I have been thinking of recently. (Ariana Grande is my favorite of the Evolution videos, but every one has its champion).
I would love to hear a pair of you dig into the beatboxing aspect. It might be worth crowd-sourcing for what people think are the richest songs in terms of beatboxing.

wow. you just explained to me why I always thought it sounded the tiniest bit off. more flat, to my ears. sincerely thank you!
so glad I stumbled over your channel.
cover songs of PTX I think you'd enjoy would be Come Along, White Winter Hymnal, Joy To The World (I know it sounds silly, but it's a fun one!), Where Are U Now, and last but not least New Rules x Are You That Somebody.
in the last song they have a new member (sorry if I've spoiled anything by saying that!).

Muchas felicidades!!

You should check out Kevin Olusola in a solo recording(video) of Down. It is amazing! He is very talented, he plays the cello too!

Congratulations! Continued success with your beatboxing. Very happy for you. Love your reaction videos.🤗 your comments are right on. I’m a diehard Pentaholic but your comments make a lot of sense. I’m always amazed to see and hear Kevin go from singing to beatboxing and yes, they are very entertaining. By the way, I love Kevin’s latin rhythms in PTX cover of Havana. His bongos sound so real! Enjoy!

Check out Voiceplay, anything by them. How about their Moana medley? It features beatbox and bass very well. Hope to see you react to that soon.

You need to check out Kevin Olusola’s channel, it’s awesome, just him kicking back doing some of his own stuff cello, piano lots of beatboxing, there’s also a video of him at Carnegie Hall at 17 where he plays the Sax, talks about his teenage years and then does some beatboxing, Scott found him online playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time with over 1 million views, he was excepted to several colleges but attended Yale, pre Med. He also speaks fluent Mandarin😁You could also check out the Sing Off Where it all came together as a 5 person group. Scott, Kirstin & Mitch have been best friends and singing together since 10 years old. But as a group at that time with Avi the bass, they only been together a few days before the first show, and they were fantastic you would’ve thought they had been together for years.. Matt is the bass now and has fit right in which is so hard to do with a already established group👏🏽
