Mine should be shipping this week!!!
How exciting! Great desktop amp!
Ordered it, waiting for it and the app.
I got in as a super early bird and mine shipped a few days ago. So, the first 300 have shipped.
@@Jmdeclue let us know about the jam along feature, please. People are a bit concerned, no demos of that feature and thats why alot of people bought the amp. PLEASE PLEASE let us know, bruh. I bought mine out of the first 1000. I hope it does what it says
@@GaryBook Where will the app be available. In the app store? Shouldnt it already be in the app store then?
I've ordered this amp for my son's 18th birthday, he'll be so happy.
He's just turned 10.
I ordered mine three weeks ago, and it should be here in Duluth, MN on Monday.
Lol. Dad will play with it for 8 years
It's nice to see Positive Grid sending them to youtubers and not customers that ordered months ago...
right?!!
I like how the guitars change in your hands almost like magic.
Yes I could see this generating new inspiration for me. What you said about playing the same stuff over and over is so TRUE it wears on. Brilliant review!
What a FANTASTIC AMP , it sounds all the better with you playing through it . I can say you can pre order it for around $224.00 dollars. Not too shabby for all that is included in the price.
Definitely a solid price for what's included! Hope you're well Marty :)
@@GuitarZero2Hero How long did you wait for it?
@@charlylovesyouall7911 Ordered one for my son on December 30th 2019. It arrived yesterday. July 4th 2020. He is loving it.
Oh wow I expected it to cost a lot more then that I'm impressed
You have the most beautiful guitars! And you play them beautifully!!!
I just received my PG spark wow amazing lots of stuff tones that I can use. Jam with artists songs writer n all with a chords while m playing,, m very very satisfied with this spark worth to buy
I've been mulling over this amp option for a few weeks now. This video will likely be the reason I move forward and purchase it. Thanks for the honest and broad demo of tones/features...
Great demo Dan and i cannot wait to get this and the reason i am getting this SPARK amp is 100% because of your demo my friend, If i did not see this video and Hear your tones you played so well, i would not be purchasing this amp on payday !! Thank you for your patience on showing how, this amp actually works and sounds and we didn't even get into the Stage and Recording's yet....your awesome my friend !!
Thanks for doing a full feature review! Was trying to see a demo of the smart jam features, but all the ads and other reviewers didn’t demo that part. I feel better about my purchase now.
You know who else needs this amp?
The 30,000+ who bought them already and have been waiting for months.
Yet another CZcamsr has one...kind of a slap in the face.
You'd think with $7.5 Million of preorder cash that PG would be able to pull it togethet. But nope!
They just keep on selling and not delivering.
I know!! I pre ordered mine early January and at first they said I would get it late February and then it turned into late March and know they are saying late April or early May. They keep on delaying the shipping smh
@@NINTENDO360REVIEWER I'd get a refund, just in case PG folds and someone walks with all that money
I ordered mine on 17th Nov, it arrived on 13th March. Im in the UK. Not to gloat....just to manage expectations. The problem I have is the Amp is better than my playing! That said, I am enjoying it. Incentive to get better :)
@@NINTENDO360REVIEWER Get your money back an learn to play with a real teacher.
For US anyway delays are not only covid shutdown, but guessing customs difficulties as well due to current trade policies. Users in non-US countries might be getting them a bit sooner/more consistently- not an expert here but possible explanation. Shame we have to wait, but to me it'll be worth it. Totally understand if some people feel jilted and want to cancel and find an alternative. That said I don't have any problems with 100 or whatever of the devices going to youtubers for marketing purposes- that in itself is just accepted practice for online sales. Additionally most of the review videos I've seen are spaced pretty evenly over the last 6 months (based on post dates). Taken all together, can't find much fault with positive grid with the delays since I believe they want them in the hands of people almost as much as we want them. Do I still want mine to show on my door tomorrow? Yep. Is there a possibility it'll all go sour and customers will all get burned? Yep, I just don't think it'll go down that way.
Hey Dave, can we get a "Fade to black" lesson. You play it great as the orginal recording.
Thanks for, what appears to be, an honest review. Now I'm looking even more forward to getting mine.
I ordered on Feb 1, was told they would ship April/May. I've sent numerous requests for information, but now don't even get the auto-response that "we'll get back to you shortly." I'm sure it's a great product but the customer service could really use an upgrade.
Update: I'm now told it's "In Transit"
Did you get it?
@@sumedhhhh Yes, I did get mid-June, and am very happy with it. Frustrated with the process, but the product itself is excellent. Advice to would-be buyers: get it but be prepared for a long wait.
@@gregoryfjones oh good to hear
Best Spark Guitar Amp review I have seen on the web. Thanks!
Can we please get a lesson on Slow Dancing In A Burning Room!!! ;)
Haha yes I will get to it one day!
Yeah Dave pls slow dancing in a burning room.. I'm sure would prefer your tutorial over any other in youtube.
I hope someone would show how to play it without using the thumb wraparound... some of us are thumb-challenged (I know it sucks, mainly when we like John Mayer and such)
One of the best reviews of this amp.... cant wait till mine comes
keep waiting
How can you tell? Every "review" is exactly the same, listing off the spec sheet, and going through a couple presets, with interestingly nothing bad to say.
This isn't a review. This guy is being paid to sell these. I was hoping for real reviews but they have so many commercials that honest reviews will not show up
Mine end of February. Nice. Be using this in church using mic Shure sm57 to the house
Genuine Aussie Legend! That Les Paul was screaming! So like the real thang! I'm a old hand at playing in a band situation. I have one of these amps on order! Cheers!
Is everything coming out of same amp? Or, are you playing through a separate monitor while spark is doing everything else?
It's all coming from the amp. Nothing additional
I just bought one and hope i won't wait a few months to have it !
Great review!
I have one of these. Love it! But still really appreciate informative and well presented reviews like this one. Good one! A great review 👍👏👏
Thanks for an awesome review! Great playing and amazing guitars! Just ordered mine after watching this! Thank you!!!
I've had to reset my expectations - bought in Jan and still waiting in May...
Been gigging for 15 years now but really need the simplicity and all-together functions
of Spark to take my playing to a different level... Especially when you don't
have a lot of time to practice - looking to max out whatever time I have with this amp.
Let's hope it arrives soon! Seems like they're slowly getting on top of the orders now
I got mine a week ago! Great review brother! I love it! Happy New Year! Thank you for posting this.
Thanks Angel! Happy new year to you too!
I FINALLY got mine today.... as much as I hated the wait to get it I gotta admit this thing is SWEET
Yeh was a shame about their shipping situation but it probably had a lot to do with the covid shutdown. Glad you got it eventually. Enjoy!
Mine arrived this week just 7 months after I ordered it. Despite the delay in getting it, I am really happy with it. It is already helping my playing improve and it sounds really good. It’s worth the price just if you use it as a Bluetooth speaker. Latest info suggests they have caught up and shipped all existing orders and even have some in stock (Aug 2020) with a price rise coming soon. I have a Katana Air and a Yamaha THR10 and the Spark has left them sitting on the shelf and I am thinking of selling them - its that good.
Thanks for sharing Wayne!
So far this is the only video i have seen show the smart jam at all :) cool little amp
OMG that Slow Dancing tone is sooooooooooooo good. Can't wait to get this amp!!! Less than 2 weeks until I buy this amp and a PRS Custom 24 SE!!! I bet kicking in a booster for the Slow Dancing solo's sounds amazing.
Bet that's 2 weeks of sleep you missed! So how do you like it?
i ordered mine yesterday off of the website i can’t wait to get it i heard so many cool things about this little amp thank you for the review are you still enjoying it after a year i hope so
Just ordered this from Mannys in Alexandria. Got the white one for something different. Cant wait to give it a try
You'll love it! Genuinely the best practice amp going around :)
Ehm, so cancelled Yahama THRII and ordered Positive Grid Spark because of your presentation ☺️ Can’t wait for it, so excited!
Thanks , I just preordered one looking forward to used it and the app
seen a few vids. Life, Micro Cube if 'thru' but dig the built in backing track option (jammed with my stereo since I was 15 in '72)
Just when 'all metal' set in this offered more. its a great amp.
Android ? new to this.
Great vid !!
Great video! I am totally convinced and I am going to order now.
I ordered mine on December, 2019 and I received it yesterday. It was worth the wait! Been using the free plug ins on my I Phone.
Enjoy Bill! Lots of tones to explore!
Nice guitars and playing! Thanks for video
I’m itching to get mine, I ordered the last chance at $224 US which had free freight to Australia. That was a couple of weeks ago, had an email explaining the issues re delivery so it’s been pushed back to May. From this video I think it’s worth the wait. I can use my Helix and Power cabinet until it arrives. 🎸🎸🎸
did you get it and do you like it?
H3ft Yes it arrived and I am extremely happy with it. It sounds awesome and the Jam feature works well. Definitely as good as they advertised it to be.
Great video. Thanks for the explanations
Small amp shound have batteries power also
Id be happy to let you modify it!
What a cool device! And love your guitars 🔥
Thanks Jeremiah!
Thanks for the early look - it’s looking like the end of March before I get mine!
GearGasms did you get yours yet.
Tiago78 see my review lol
Thanks for great review. Really showed some great sounds and finally had sweet distortion without a fat bottom end!. Great commentary! I ordered one!
Have you got it yet?
@@pmcm7350 no they said end of may now
@@jigamac71 sheeet! I'm still waiting too.
Very good demo, thank you!
Nice review. Thanks. I don't know if the backlog has gotten worked through, but I ordered mine 10 days ago and it just arrived yesterday. I had set my expectations that I'd be waiting a couple months, so I was very surprised to get it so soon. So far it sounds really great for reasonably priced practice amp. I read a ton of complaints about the bass-i-ness but the factory clean preset sounds really clear and balanced to my ears.
No problems! And yeh it sounds like they’ve sorted out the shipping delays. I don’t think it helped that covid blew up weeks after the release. I agree with you, the cleans sound great!
I got mine 2 weeks ago and I love it I have been waiting for something like this for a long time I did pay a little more on ebay but i had it in a week
Can’t wait to get mine. I have a Positive Grid BT4 Bluetooth 4 foot switch controller, it would be nice if it can control the pedals on the amp.
If you had a choice between Positive Grid Spark Smart or Boss Katana-Air Wireless which would you pick?
Got one on order, not sure of the ETA, maybe late April ... gives me enough time to save up for an iPad to go with it.
Well done and well explained. Thanks
Hi, great video, just ask few missin point: 1) bit resolution and latency for the interface ? 2) possible to use footswitch and volume/wha pedals ? 3) smart functions for the songs only if connected on the web ? 4) possible to save the chords found ? possible to export as midifiles the jam band ? 5) via bluetooh, having two speakes, possible to listen in stereo ? Thanks much, CIAO :-)
Very impressive amp but moreover you need to teach that slow dancing in a burning room bro. I’m eagerly waiting for it.
ok what about using this with an acoustic electric guitar?
Watch the video!
@@DavidBaldinger would like to see a longer demo using acoustic guitar...
Silly question, but can you gig (only need it for pub volume) with this via a P.A?
You'll always be the best on doing tutorials, it doesn't metter if there are some apps for that, since I discover your channel I've improved a lot playing the guitar, and I'm really greatful to you Dave 😁🎸🎊🎉👏🙌🎥 you're the best 🎶🎵🥇
Thank you! Awesome video and playing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I ordered mine already
I like the the sound of spark amplifier
Great Mini Amp 👍🎼🎸
Thanks! Can't wait for mine!
I am starting a campaign to ask positive grid to include bluetooth pedal control with the Spark app...Yamaha THR has it!!.......Positive Grid Jamup has it!!! If this thing had it, it would be a working amp for gigging.
That seems pretty cool Dave. Thanks for the demo
nice video, you plays awesome
Just received today. Thanks Positve Grid
Doe's the screen thing come with it, and how does that connect to the amp? It would be nice to hear the amp on it's own without all the presets as well.
The screen thing is an iPad, connects via blue tooth.
Scary, huh?
Great demo and very appealing little amp! I'm surprised it does not have an inbuilt battery... It's not a deal breaker though. The carry strap seems like it is designed to be your goto amp to take with you places, so why no battery?
Check out their Spark mini, that one was an inbuilt battery
@@GuitarZero2Heroyee
Very nice review! Might have ordered one myself, but no shipping to my country atm, sigh...
You're doing a great job.
I'd like to know if there is a newer practice amp on the market for 2022?
I just canceled my order for the Spark and requested my money back. I am so angry about the way they are handling the orders. I have never seen anything like it. The amazing way they have created this situation where they keep you waiting for delivery with vague promises about the status of your order and give you no idea what to expect about delivery. I SUGGEST WAITING UNTIL VERSION 2.0 AND SEE WHATS THE REVIEWS ARE LIKE THEN.
I would have waited. All the pre orders have been pretty much filled. I had a buddy order a week ago got his today. I love the amp it's great.
That virtual capo is nifty. It would have been nice to put a rotary knob on the amp to change capo positions :)
Sounds good , big bang for the buck, add it to my wish list. Thanks for sharing.
Great review!!! Mahaloz Brahdah 🤙🏽💯🤙🏽
Great rundown of the amp. Could you follow up with a demo of the backing track feature. I have not found a video demonstrating this feature, only the tone bank.
I demo the smart jam feature in the video :) check the description for the timestamp
Daaaaaaaamn hard to find a good bassist and drummer? Shots fired.
Hey mate, so I'm also from Australia and I was wondering did you receive an Australian plug from positive grid or did you need to buy a convertor for it? Also im thinking of getting either this or the Boss Katana MKII what do you reckon you would go for if you were to choose something. Cheers mate!
Hey Reuben. It was a US plug but the power brick allows you to connect your own IEC-C7 cable which I had lying around the house. Both are great options, I guess it depends on what you wanna use it for. The software for the Spark is far superior. In terms of tone both will be the same in capability. But the Katana is a more versatile amp if you want to play live or with a band as it’s got a much bigger speaker and more wattage. The Spark is more of a home desktop amp.
Aw man. I wanna trade in my Boss katana that I just recently got.
Sold all my big old crates because I just don't need that anymore
This is perfect. So much functionality.
Definitely getting this for my nephew
When you create a chord progression and the app plays back with drums and bass, is there a way to take this further and actually create a complete track with bridges, choruses, etc? If not, what’s the best way to achieve this? I’m thinking about buying their X Drummer app, but I’m not sure if the amp and it’s app works with the Drummer app. Also, is there a looper option for layering loops? And what about using pedals? I know the amp doesn’t come with a foot switch, but it would be nice if it worked with wah pedals, amp splitters, expression pedals, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can’t find any reviews that discuss any of this and the website has little info. Thanks.
Great Demo...thx for that :-). I watched a few and I think I'm going to buy it, when it is available in the (online) shops in europe / germany. Unfortunately it does not work with a foot pedal switch (yet). A good suggestion for a demo would be a comparison between BOSS Katana MK2 and this Amp for e-Guitar Beginners like me (there are several but would like to know your justification as you are my preferred player ;-). Currently this Amp is slighly ahead withe my personal selection because of size, style and the backing tracks integrated with the provided App. But I'm still not sure :-).
If you strum a chord with a 12 string guitar will it analyse the chord or chord patterns for you and display them?
Great video... subscribed 👍
what would you recommend for a first time amp , im moving from acoustic to electric guitar boss katana mkii or the positive grid spark
Can you do slow dancing in a burning room video plz
Hey dude I’m not sure if you have any strumming videos, but, anyway you could do a video on some basic strumming patterns? I’ve searched a lot of guitar tutorial and you’re the best I’ve come across. I’ve been trying to play some Luke combs songs but I can’t get the strumming down. I get all jumbled up haha
Good sharing Dave. Thanks. I just ordered my Spark. Yet to arrive. Dave, can I connect Spark to another powered speaker via the headphone output or perhaps if I jam with my band, to a bigger guitar amp.
Yup I’ve heard people use the headphone jack to send the signal to a bigger speaker :)
Mine is shipping soon but so far all the high gain clips sound really plastic :(
I think its meant to be used primarily as a practice amp, maybe for a bit of lo-fi recording. If you're primarily interested in high gain tones, you should know that
a) you can't show up to a metal gig (or even practice) with a 40 watt amp anyway. It's got 4" speakers for gods sake.
b) if you could use it to gig in a metal band, the drums and bass would quite thoroughly drown out any detectable "plasticiness".
@@dinkaboutit4228 nothing wrong with wanting to practice with good tones. And Bias advertises it as a recording tool as well. Anyway you get what you pay for, I guess.
All the reviews demo playing with electric guitars shredding. That's fine , what does this thing sound like using acoustic electric guitars playing indie / folk / country type music ?? Does this also run on battery? Is this something you can use on a gig ?
You wouldnt be able to use it on a gig as it is such a small amp, and digital. If you want amps that start being loud enough for gigs you really need to step into 50W solid states, or 20W valve (and higher)
BaktaBak - Country, Rock & Oldies band 14:40 ? No batteries apparently.
You sold me on it. Just ordered.
Might be a stupid question ,but how do you work out strumming patterns of a song if you can't pick the Rhythm/melody ?
I'm guessing i should get this over most amps that are in the high figure range like 900 and up? I mean this has so many features!!!!
If you had to choose between the Spark and Boss Katana, which would it be? In terms of features and then sound.
Hey! Here's what I wrote to another viewer "They're two different amps essentially. Boss Katana is an amazing amp that is probably more versatile as you can change it from 0.5W to 25W to 50W so you can use it for quiet practice or for gigging with a live band. The tone studio is very detailed as well so lots more options to tweak your tone. The downside is that the tone studio only works on PC or Mac, no mobile support at this stage. There's also no bluetooth connectivity to use the Katana as a standalone speaker.
The Spark is equally as nice but for different reasons, I love it as a desktop practice amp. You wouldn't really be able to have your Katana on your desk. The Spark amp is really simple to use and being mobile friendly is super convenient. And being bluetooth compatible means it doubles as a great music speaker too for listening to music. It is 40W so it is loud, however definitely wouldn't be gigging with it. In terms of effects, it has fewer options than the Katana, but there are 30 amp models in the Spark as opposed to the Katana which has 10.
In summary, I think they're equally as good. You just need to decide what's best for your needs."
With the chord progression that you used to create a drum and bass back track, can you add the actual chords you played into the jam track and then just play the lead over the top. So you would have drums, bass, your rhythm chords together and then play or record your lead on top of all that?
No you can’t add the chords, but you can use backing tracks from CZcams which are analysed and the chord progression gets loaded for you to play over. Very Cool.
Passes as a Bluetooth speaker too , awesome !!
Which tone did you use when you were playing the white les paul??
HEY, gr8 demo and ur very good,,, WHATTT is that ibanez , ANYONE?? KILLER!!! THANKS...
Cool amp! Definitely gotta get one of those! 😁👍
Should I get this or the Boss Katana 50 MkII?
Best jam along demo yet, THANKS! Still waiting on delivery..GOOGLE MUSIC PLEASE!
Hey Dave,
I see you've also done a video on the Boss Katana 50 MKII. What would you recommend between the two for a beginner guitarist?
Thanks.
Exactly the same question I came on to ask!!!
Hey, I have played for around 5 years now! I wouldnt reccomend this amp, as while it is clever it just wont sound good with 4 inch speakers. Ideally you want to try get an amp with 10 or 12 inch speakers. The boss katana is an amazing amp, and will sound great, however if you are a beginner, you might not even need something that big. I would look at the size just below the boss katana 50, I think it is 30 or something, as you dont wont something too loud as in a bedroom you have to literally feather the volume nob or it is too loud so you dont need something too loud. The boss katana has a bigger speaker which can move more air causing more bass. Also, it's the real thing! Another amazing amp, is the PRS MT 15, as well as the prs MT 1x12 cab, which together can be bedroom volume but enough for small gigs. That amp has great clean sounds as well as crazy metal tones, and it is full valve, like all amps pros use, and gives the 'real sound' rather than a digital amp which will never sound the same

@@GuitarZero2Hero yeh I agree. However there is nothing better than a good old valve amp..
@@GuitarZero2Hero brilliant thank you! Personally I have no desire or ambition to ever gig or play in public, which is why I'm drawn to the spark. I'm just a bedroom player.
I also really love the idea of typing in a band to the tone cloud and getting "their sound" (or at least close to it) ... Rather than having to tweak settings/find it myself - as I would have to do on the katana. If that makes sense!
