- Ross Colton scored twice while Nikita Kucherov collected two assists as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-3 and made the first-round series even at 2-2.

In the little bit of this summary, just after Stamkos first goal of game, I was really impressed with the Colton hit and him being aware of what he was doing, moving past the Leafs player to ensure that his hit would not be from behind, or boarding, etc.
that kid has been magic since he moved up from the Crunch, i could really see him being the next face of the franchise once Stamkos retires.

I don't understand. These are basics of hockey and especially playoff hockey you are talking about. How they havent' learned yet that they can't take stupid penalties or be prepared for the start especially in away games? There's no "adjusting" to these things that always exist in hockey.
@@markiv2942 They weren’t silly, bone-head penalties today. The Bolts were substantially better than the Leafs so those penalties were forced and some may have been wrong calls by the refs (Kase “trip”). At the end of the day, they just need to focus on weathering the storm in the first 10 minutes. They need to out-work Tampa and hopefully get a lead going into the first intermission. The series is tied. No teams have won two straight yet so the adjustments have been evident in every game since Game One. It’s now the Leafs’ turn.
@@markiv2942 Well, Clifford - and Simmonds even more-so - were liabilities in the early games which forced Keefe to consider the options. In fact, he had it right from the get-go BUT the aforementioned guys can't play with empty helmets! This last game conveyed the need for a "play-off" hockey roster. The Leafs spent more time ducking hits than making plays. It reminded me of this team in the past 2 play-offs. This cannot happen again and I don't care whether they are playing at home OR away. It's the play-offs! Grow a pair!!! Get Simmonds and Clifford out there taking bodies but...being smart about it. Add to this that the "loose-Bolts" took a page out of the Bruins book last night. This exposes the gross incompetence of your officials. Specifically, the Bruins won a pseudo-cup in 2011 - I call it the Bettman-grow-the-business-in-the-USA-cup - by expending as much or more energy AFTER the whistles while spearing, jabbing, poking, punching and slashing the opposition...with NO calls from the officials!?!?! I guess you can ram a stick into a players crotch as long as it's AFTER the whistle. Perhaps we don't need truculence...we just need guys to spear, jab, poke, punch, slash, etc. AFTER the whistles, then skate away while the opposition retaliates!?!?! It might look like gross incompetence or corruption alla 2011 ;), on the part of the officiating but...? I try to learn something every day.

I have no idea why Keefe took out Liljegren and put Holl instead, Liljegren plays great with Gio. Holl is terrible turns the puck over all the time and isn’t physical.
@@hypn0298 He needed someone to kill penalties; that’s the only reason Holl is in the line-up. Tampa was only 1-8 on the PP, and the only PPG they scored was on a 5-on-3. Liljegren wouldn’t have made a difference tonight; the whole team didn’t play well. These are tough coaching decisions, and we can only criticise on hindsight. As it stands now, Leafs have the same record with either Holl or Liljegren in the line-up.
Went to the game tonight in tampa and the game was won just because the bolts out hustle the leafs the first two period and it really showed. Every loose puck the bolts made their best effort to get there first. They also kept constant pressure one the leafs in their own end and they kept making mistakes.
It's actually because Leafs played like they didn't want to win. They're dynamic completely different from the first two games

The Colton/Hagel line magical in this game. The Bolts really step up on their physical game. They controlled the boards all around. The leafs i think found a game plan for Game 5, SHOOT THE PUCK!!! Have a players only meeting make sure your ready to play if your the leafs at the start of the game. Have Campbell on a short leash. He was left in the net too long 3-0. He should of been pulled.
You wonder if his psyche is shot?? We'll find out in game 5.
Why should Campbell be on a short leash? Those first 3 goals were all defensive issues - not Jacks! Forwards not coming back, missed assignments galore. If the goalie makes 1 or 2 saves, then a goal - that is 100% on defense to stop. Every Leaf player on the ice at the time is culpable on those. Jack stood on his head for far too many chances. Goal #4 was totally on Campbell, and as a goalie, those unfortunately happen. You think you've got it, but nope.

That's the most satisfaction. It's the "typical" Leafs' fan that does this. No humility. So arrogant about their team every year, especially if they have a good regular season. No offence to those teams but it proved that the Leafs weren't losing in the playoffs just because they were facing great teams like Washington and Boston (and now Tampa). 6 seasons in a row losing in the first round has to be a record. I can't think of another team in any sport that's done it.

That was the quickest 8 minute game i have ever seen. Game was over in almost 8 minutes. If you are a Maple Leaf player ... how do you justify how the first 8 minutes went ?
There was still a lot to play for and positives taken from the game even after it got to 5-0. Källgren got his first taste of playoff hockey and was perfect. The second line got on the board finally. Soup only played half a game so was able to get some rest. The first eight minutes was the result of a new problem of the Leafs’ inability to withstand the Bolts’ early flurry. Both teams have been quick to adjust after each loss so far. The Leafs will learn from this and be better next game!
Maybe they were thinking "we won game 3... so it's not so bad if we lose this one, we still have home ice advantage"

Toronto is soft, Tampa is softer than in 2021 and 2020. Both teams don't believe in themselves enough to recover when they don't have an early lead. Tampa will prevail, they have been here before. Tampa in 6.

Keefe has awful strategy for the playoffs . We play way to passive in the neutral zone and allow tb to carry across the blue line with ease. Leafs have to work hard to gain offensive zone . TB plays trap and catches Toronto where Toronto tries to play run and gun like reg season and aside from game one have been awful in both 2 way and defensive areas.
Lightning is the team with a big surprises. Next game need to win. But today Vasilevsky was sleeping on the net.
