    Nice review, like your view on most of the points. Looking forward for the next ones. Btw. found you on reddit and have subed. To your question at the end, I think buzzsaw is okay because you pay for it, blitzkrieg is a double edged sword, often you want to use it but with a lot of points in you verterans your opponent has more dice than you, which means you can not react. Tigerfear was a bit op, but not much. You have to pay for it and one lucky shot takes it away. I had prefered if inex and regulars have to test and vets do not, which meant the you opponent has to spent points in his army to counter you.

    I just bought a US Rangers box I made into regular late war US Infantry. And I bought a box of pioneers I'm making into late war Ostruppen and Sturmpioneers. And Ill just say they found a box of uniform and read a book from 1939 on how to wear the uniform. Apparently they wear this mask or something on their chest and soldiers would actually wear it differently. Im learing a lot about ww2 because I want historical units. I cant make up my mind between 1st or 3rd US Armies. And the germans will be the 7th army and more so Im gonna focus on making a company of 352 volks Grenidier. So the Ostruppen will be painted as foreign soldiers employed as volksgrenadiers. And the sturmpioneers will be from a supporting platoon from the 352nd or just from the larger 7th army. Its very interesting. Even made a board for it.

      Hats off to you for doing the research. I actually find running Ostruppen to be quite fun in Bolt Actoon. But I do recommend bolstering them with some heavier hitting units. I think taking a high ranking officer helps a lot too.

    hi there! I hope you dont mind reading comments on old videos because Im a new player looking to get into bolt action as the Germans, and I'm really confused about the Hitler's Buzzsaw faction rule. Did this recently get errated to only apply to infantry units armed with machine guns or is this still any german unit with a machine gun? Im getting a lot of conflicting information on this one and I dont know which is more accurate. Thanks for reading my comment.

    • @HollywoodWargaming

      I believe it still affects vehicles. The only time I know it DOESNT come into play is when you have a German vehicle in another faction such as Hungarian.

    Nice video. I’m looking into getting into Bolt Action and this series is helpful in choosing my army. Question... I’m particularly interested in Germans... how does it work with the different boxes sets of afrika Corp, fallschirmjager, etc. do they have different abilities? Or are they the same, just different theaters of operation?

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  Před 4 lety +2

      Matt Cappelli For the most part, they will all use the Armies of Germany National Characteristics. That being said, you can take units like Fallschrimjäger within your force which do have special rules and better stat lines. If you really want to get specific with your theatre, check out the various canpaign books Warlord has put out. The Western Desert has some great new units for Afrika Korps.

      Hollywood Wargaming thanks for the quick reply. I really want to get started with this game, but trying to figure out what set of models I’m interested. I also love the Ardennes theater. Which would you recommend if I wanted to model those?

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  Před 4 lety +1

      @@mattcappelli5822 Well, the winter German sprue is pretty awesome. Also, Volksturm exist in the rules to represent those well equipped, but poorly trained late war recruits. You'd also get access to some fun late war Panzers and can do some cool winter white wash camo schemes.
      The Battle of the Bulge campaign book is also pretty great, and offers new units and platoons like the Western Desert.
      That being said, the US doesn't have much Winter representation, which is unfortunate.

    • @mattcappelli5822
      @mattcappelli5822 Před 4 lety +1

      Hollywood Wargaming thanks for the suggestions. I’ve definitely had my eye on the winter set. I liked you’re getting started video so getting the $88 set to get all the extras, books, etc and one box of infantry is a great start. If I decide another theater, then I didn’t waste much on a winter box. Looking forward to more videos!

    I like LMGs for Germans. I love begging able to shoot something 36 inch away. Using LMG is based on your play style. If you are going to sit back and play more defensive they are great. If you are rushing forward with them then they are not cost effective. smgs would be better

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely. Ran a 5 man vet team with 2 LMGs who rode in a 250 and say in hard cover in the backfield. Did pretty well even with the small squad size.

    Well german tank were really not that great especially the two star expensive complicated the two star of german tank are an heavy tank that did its job but quickly become obsolete, and medium tank with every default of of a heavy tank, and a worse canon, both of them incapable of doing a blitzkrieg ironic isn't it.
    the true good tank of the german are panzer 1 2 3 and 4 sure they are not performing better than allied tank in term of armor and weapon, but they did the job of a tank.
    Also they rule do fit the role of german army, but only 20% of it. They tried to have a modern army, but couldn't have one completely. basically german army is pardoxally both modern ,and not modern for its time
