a favorite of the open face sandwich is the "räksmörgås" shrimp sandwich. and "smörgåstårta" sandwich cake. also toast skagen. Then we have "kroppkakor" pork-filled potato dumplings. "stekt fläsk med löksås" fried rimmed flank pork with onion sauce. "bruna bönor med stekt fläsk" brown beans and rimmed flank pork, etc

Bloop pudding tastes just like bread on it's own it needs these condiments:
Lingonberry jam & fried bacon and lifts a lot of flavours by adding a stack of sliced cucumber and a glas of milk.
Blood pudding is made of pigs blood you get as a laftover from the slaughter and flour, sliced like bread and fried in a pan, for a lot of healthy iron minerals.

    Welcome to Sweden ❤🎉
Dont listen to much to him, you do NOT need to eat or drink anything you dont like.
As for lingonberry they are naturally sweet and slightly bitter. The Jam however is much more sweet due to sugar. Very good with many dishes since it does not overpower the normal dish.
My favorite here is raggmunk med fläsk och lingonsylt 😋
(potato pancake with pork and lingonberry)
As for candy the licorice is most often not salty, thats salmiak most of the time. licorice on the other hand is often sweet and slightly chewy, many like those. Sweden has great chips and chocolate as well.
Some special beverage to try is "must" ( often drunk during Christmas and eastern but you can get it otherwise as well) and warm glögg (mulled wine) you can have booth alcohol or non alchohol version. Preferred to drink in cold days since its hot.
Dont go eat in the fastfood max ie McDonald, super expensive and not tasty.
Go to real grilled hamburger places and eat instead so much better, real meat and fresh products.
Another special food is smörgåstårta (sandwich cake) with toppings of different kind like Turkey, ham, cheese, roastbeef, shrimps very tasty.😊
Another well known dish is Västerbottenpaj( a specifik cheese pie)
I suggest dont try surströmming (fermented baltic herring) Smell like poo and worse and taste like rotten fish its just awful🤮
We have however great seafood like crayfish and shrimps and much good different fish. My favorite is röding(char)
The Swedish cuisine is today very international with food from many countries but also has much typical Swedish food some like Biff Rydberg, Biff Lindberg, Ugnspannkaka med potatis och bacon a special pancake, many good soups like ärtsoppa med fläsk (peasoup with pork) eller grönkål soppa( kale soup) just to mention a few!
Have a great day and good eating 😋🇸🇪😃♥️

I was taught as a kid to always have orange juice (C-vitamin) to my blood pudding, to absorb more of the iron.

The blood pudding has been the saviour for generations of poor Swedish parents. A dollar or two will still get you enough blood pudding to feed your family! Can't be more traditional than that!
Also classic tradition is the Thursday lunch consisting of a bowl of pea soup followed by a few pancakes.

There is plenty to eat in sweden. Many milk products, potatoes, fish, dill, leverpastej, sockerdricka and as all other nordic countries lovely berries.
Something oft overseen is ostkaka with strawberry jam, or raspberry.
Bloodpudding is spiced with cloves and tastes like cake and hardly like iron as many other varieties do. Pair that with the vitamin C of the lingonberries and you get a lot of iron.

When or if you come to Sweden, skip the fast food because you can get that crap anywhere and it's not good to any price, instead try to get in touch with some local people and eat some real Swedish food and you'll get a unforgetable stay in Sweden! 👍 P.S. There's nothing you must do or try, just try something you find interesting!

Lingonberry doesn't taste good eating them raw. What you have on restaurants are lingonberry mixed with sugar.
