i totally agree ith the top comment. Giving a speech is nerv-racking let alone being the Duchess of Cambridge. She carries herself ith poise and is effortless. She has only just begun her duties as a Royal and with time comes experiance and confidence. She's beautiful and shows what a woman of Class is all about.
Kate's a middle-class girl with a similar background as Emma Watson who's achieved film status etc only kate Middleton is now a member of the royal family.
Extraordinary considering their descendants working class roots.
I believe she is a good person even though speeches are not her thing, it will get better I hope.

This was her first speech as HRH. It’s obvious she was nervous. Kate has proved herself to be quite the public speaker. Perhaps Merkel has learned a thing or two from her as Merkel is not so sloppy anymore.

Most ppl fear giving speeches... They find it uncomfortable..They know they will get nervous, that their voice will shake, that all eyes will be on them, that ppl expect u to say something clever, funny, witty.. Give a good speech, not only content, but perform it well...

Well, this IS only her second time making a public address, and she knows the world is watching and would jump all over any mistake. I'm sure her confidence will only grow with practice.

Everything she said could basically have been summed up with "Hi, you do a great job, keep it up. Bye."
This speech was about a hospital. There wasn't anything about soil nutrients or ecology. ;-)
She is just a Human...not some god who could change everything perfectly overnight...so lets give her a break. I like the way she handle things royally in her own pace.

I heard that Kate's father brought lots of videos, and photos that are unfavourable towards Kate. Notice that lots of topless photos have disappeared on the internet, so are videos such as "kate middleton get a job", "Kate middleton party girl" etc.
Now you've heard her speak, try listening to Princess Ameerah or Queen Rania. Now that's what I call motivational. Dislike me all you want but she doesn't enthrall you when she speaks.

Kate saying to herself, "Keep saying the same thing over and over and over.... Look pretty. Keep hair out of face. Keep track of papers - no they won't see them. Oh, how they love me, they really, really love me." Seriously - she kept saying the exactly same thing about 7 times in her speech. She is so boring. I don't know what Prince William sees in her.

I think she has so many pages because the font is greatly enlarged so as to make it easy to read without holding it up to her face. That's my theory, anyway. :-)

If you've seen her speech at the East Anglia Children's Hospice (EACH), which was her first speech ever (and was supposedly written by her), this one is very similar. So probably she wrote it too. The only thing I don't get it why there seem to be 3 whole printed pages for material that is at best 1 paragraph. Other than that, all these negative comments seem jealous!

faithoffaith i don't pay attention to the royals and was there by chance (coz she gave birth). i made my comment based on what americans usually do - memorize the speech by heart.
she acted as if she's reading from it the first time or at least she'snever rehearsed. she's reading each line in her head first before saying it and thus the long pauses. do the queen and the other royals read off the paper the way she did? like i said, i dont' follow them so this is a genuine question.
