Natalie Anderson did a lot more than that. She did several things simultaneously while doing this.... that guaranteed her the win. 1) she broke up Missy and Baylor, and while she knew she wouldn't be able to win unanimously against any combination of the other three, she guaranteed that a split in votes wouldn't be for her hands, which was a calculated risk. 2) she redeemed herself in Jon's eyes immediately after orchestrating his blindside in saving Jaclyn, and while she was never gonna get his vote either way he was also never gonna do any jury poisoning against her after she saved Jaclyn. 3) and this one is subtle but the most important of all, when she turned around and asked Jaclyn if she voted for who Natalie told her to vote for, she communicated very clearly to the jury that Natalie, and Natalie alone, was making a huge move and was the person solely responsible for Baylor being sent to the jury. she showed them that she was actively and commandingly taking control of her own fate. 4) as a final note, the reason she went for Baylor instead of Missy was that Baylor is more strategically adept, particularly when speaking to people outside of her family. yeah she was considered a brat by many but she also had fewer people majorly pissed at her for purely emotional reasons than Missy did. by: tdarkhorse4.

4:40 Actually, there's a rumor that Parvati threw the Final Immunity challenge in Micronesia, and she of course went on to win. If so, the difference is that she wasn't flashy about it.
The logic would work similarly to Hatch's in Borneo. Hatch knew that if Rudy won the challenge he would go on to win the game, but that he would take Hatch regardless out of their long friendship. If Kelly won, as she did, she would take Richard as she would've lost against Rudy.
In Micronesia, Parvati is the parallel to Rich, Cirie is the parallel to Rudy, and Kelly is the parallel to Amanda. Parvati knew that either player was going to take her to the end. Arguably, Cirie would've taken Parvati thinking Amanda would've been better at FTC and thus more of a jury threat (China hadn't aired yet, revealing Amanda's abysmal FTC abilities). And as we know, Amanda won and would bring Parvati knowing she would lose easily to Cirie.
The other difference is that in Borneo the alliance had fractured between Kelly and Rich/Rudy, while all 3 were going strong in Micronesia. By not winning the FIC, Parvati didn't have to vote an alliance member out. Meanwhile, Amanda embittered Cirie by voting her off.

I think in a lot of seasons, there’s a flashy move the winner makes. The ones you mention here are all definitely the perfect moves for these respective winners (although I’d argue Todd blindsiding James with those two idols is equally flashy). A few other flashy moves I think could have made the list (or honorable mentions):
-Vecepia making a Final 2 with Kathy only to slice her Survivor throat the next episode by throwing the final Immunity to Neleh
-Yul uses his idol to flip Penner
-Natalie convinces the Galu 8 to cannibalize Erik (who also had an idol in his pocket)

When she asks her if she voted for whom she said, and the jury's collective heads all turn back to her, one of my favourite moments in all of Survivor.

Todd's move was a little dangerous because it resulted in James having two idols and the need to blindside him at the last possible moment, but I think it made a lot of sense from his perspective because he had no way to know that the Zhan Hu idol hadn't been already found or that Peih-Gee and Jaime would decide that they actually had to win the next immunity challenge because they lost trust in Sherea or that Denise would be absolutely incapable of completing the challenge, which forced James to go ahead and win it anyway.

    5. Todd's move made perfect sense give James the idol and tell him to get the other one so he could blindside the other tribe. Todd was pissed that James didn't give him one of the idols however. I don't consider this a flashy move however. It never panned out and he didn't take much of a risk. I don't think him doing this had any impact on him winning.
    4. Oh sandra I love you. According to Russell the plan was always to get rid of Coach to convince the Heroes of the all female alliance. I am inclined to believe him although I do think she completely fooled Russell and got him to believe it. I think she made more flashy moves than that one, but still fun.
    3. Rich throwing the challenge is my favorite and personal opinion of the flashiest move ever made.
    2. Jeremy move was pretty good. He knew where everyone was voting because they all trusted him. This move I think was important for Jeremy to make. Had Cierra stuck around her, Kelly, and Abi could have done some serious damage during the aftermath of that vote. Ensuring that alliance was down another number severely limited their power.
    1. This was a very flashy move. It worked out beutifully too. She eliminated a pair that would eliminate her had Keith won the final immunity challenge and kept a bigger physical threat. I have two critiques about this. One, had Jaclyn thrown down Natalies name that night then Natalie would have gone home at 5. Secondly, she should have got rid of Missy and kept a bigger challenge threat around to beat Keith. It all worked out tho.

    • @BrettMKW
      @BrettMKW Pƙed 6 lety

The problem with Jaclyn voting for Natalie is while yes it works in this instance, Jaclyn had no idea Nat was going to play an idol for her. For all she knew Natalie could have just flipped Keith or something, and then Jaclyn voting for Natalie would look incredibly stupid. Hindsight is always 20/20 though. For example if Wentworth threw Tasha a stray vote at F6 (which hinges on Jeremy having an idol) then Wentworth goes to F3 with Keith and Kimmi and probably wins.
Rich's move is incredibly underrated. If he wins he either votes out Kelly (and loses the vote to Rudy easily), or votes out Rudy (who in turn will not vote for Rich because of the betrayal), and he would lose 4-3 to Kelly. By doing this he preserved Rudy's vote and that vote was all he needed. Also I'm not sure why Sandra got so much credit for that move in HvV, Russell didn't even vote for Coach during that tribal, Parvati and Danielle did.

The Hatch step off at F3 Immunity was smart, either of the other two take him to the end. If Rich wins, and he takes Rudy and loses, if he takes Kelly, he loses Rudy’s vote (“I got friends”) which would’ve been the difference maker

When you say how many times has a person thrown the final 3 immunity challenge and won the game. Four times actually. Rich, Vecepia, Aras, and Parvati all threw the final challenge in their winning seasons. The first three were upfront about it, but Parvati confirmed that she threw final immunity in Micronesia because she knew both Amanda and Cirie would take her to the finals, and she would get the jury vote of whoever was voted out. At the time of the filming though she was hoping Cirie won because she for some reason thought Cirie was a goat.

Last week on IotI kellee shocked me when she saved Dean fro elimination. She knew that she only had one tribal council left to play it and was threatened on how Jack pretty much got along with everyone. She deviced a plan to tell Noura and Dean to vote Jack, and used her idol on Dean. Cheery on top though Jamal who also had an idol used on Noura not Jack thinking Noura was potentially going home. After all that Kellee still voted for Dean to make it look like she didnt mastermind the plan. Man that was one exciting tribal council.
