Blitz Sports Network PSA: Always remember, the individuals who say "Michael Jordan didn't face great competition in his era" are trying to tell you something IMPORTANT. They are trying to tell you that they didn't watch the Michael Jordan era, and there are much better things you could be doing with your time rather than listening to their takes on an era they didn't even watch. Would you go to someone for an opinion on Shakespeare if they had never seen the plays Macbeth, Hamlet, or Othello? Of course you wouldn't. Consider the source. Nobody who watched that era would trash the talent all around the league. Michael Jordan played in a great era with a great blend of fierce competitors, awe inspiring athletes, lock down defenders, knock down shooters, and ultra skilled ballers. - Sport
Lebron fans will never understand how great MJ was and is
Good. Keep it that way.
yeah this reveals a lot of why mj was A goat. I mean EVERYTIME HE TOUCHES THE BALL ITS MAGICAL. LIKE LITERALLY AND HE PLAYING DEFENSE LIKE HAKEEM
Babe Ruth level of fame.
They will and they do. MJ is the best thus far and it'll be almost impossible to get close to that.
I agree.
Damn it's crazy how everyone cheered for him, 7 games into his career and they knew they were seeing something special.
He wasnt a nobody either he played 3 years at UNC won the tournament etc played for the US olympic gold …
@@hoodpimp1519 He was unknown to your average basketball fan. The stands were half empty in his first games but the minute the word got out how good he is the tickets were sold out.
Basketball was so pure back then. Sometimes I don’t even know what I’m watching today.
I think this Euro-step nonsense took that away. Whether its legal or not it doesn't look smooth at all.
Before it was NBA (No Babies Allowed) now it is NBGay.
A 3 point shooting contest. That's what you're watching in today's game.
Thats exactly what we are watching.. a bunch of threes every 2 min. Highest percentage shot is in the paint. Smdh @@mralowen
Not too many rookies are double-teamed in their 7th NBA game.
SO TRUE
My girlfriend and I ( future wife) was at this game. When MJ stole the ball and did the “ Rockabye Baby “ dunk everybody went nuts. Little did we know what was going to happen down the road. ✊🏾👍🏾🏀
Wow! Something you and her can share for a lifetime! I could only imagine the atmosphere
You saw a little valuable piece of history
Damn dude, what I would have given to be at that game!
I bought Bulls season tickets 7:56 ( with a partner) the YEAR BEFIRE THEY DRAFTED JORDAN. Little did know what I was in for.
The day MJ stepped onto a court for the very first time he was the best player in the league. NOBODY, not even LeBron James, can say that
Given that Kobe Bryant existed when he first stepped on the floor, and Michael Jordan existed when Kobe first stepped on the floor, then especially not LeBron James.
Jordan was nowhere near as good as he was later on but his all around game was still the best in the league. Just his impact on defense while averaging 28ppg as a rookie was ridiculous. When you watch young Jordan he was already the leader of the team on the court.
Before Jordan ever played an NBA game, Bob Knight called Jordan "the best player I've ever seen play the game of basketball."
Well there are a few guys but only a FEW that could claim that. Bird and Magic for a few years were what I would call the greatest initiators in the game, Dr. J was great doesnt get as much recognition since half his career was in the ABA. I dont really add the classic centers Russell, Chamberlain or Jabbar they racked up points before the league expanded and had the influx of new talent and ABA players and you clearly see their numbers drop when that happened. So yeah for me its Jordan, Magic, Bird and Dr. J in that order and they all won at least one championship in the hardest era of basketball. And Dr. J had two ABA championships before he joined the NBA.
If Lebron had played college, and not been 18 years old when he joined the league, he definitely would've been able to say that. I dont think hes better than Jordan was, I'm just saying.
To all who still think MJ was a self centered player not able to make his teammates better, just listen what's been said at 19:20 and they were talking about a rookie MJ after a handful of games in the NBA! So this is not MJ after 6 championships, but already at that point he was a star able to make an impact not only on his team but impress other teams fans, really there is noone like him!!
Don't overlook the fact Michael Jordan had an early fan following because he had just won the Gold Medal at the 1984 Olympics.
And he beat the NBA All Stars 8-0. Those exhibition matches are something to watch. College kids beating the best players in the NBA. Not just beating them, they swept them.
MJ did everything from one end of the court to the next. The best ever!
The best after Kareem
They were already talking about him being the greatest, even in his rookie season.. nobody has and will ever have the impact that he has on the league, and the world!
Starting around 12:00..one announcer says that we'll be seeing Jordan do this for about another 15 years. Then the other commentator says he might not wanna play that long
Damn, the accuracy
I was gonna point that out as well, great minds think alike, seen you had already done so.
Jordan would play today if he could. Don't get that twisted.
And Jordan played exactly 15 years. What a prediction😂😂
Scripted TEEFHEE😊

Michael Jordan lighting up the league as a rookie!
Jordan was born in New York! He is a New Yorker.
That’s crazy how the commentators said he was going to play 15yrs in the league…they spoke that into existence
Almost 40 years ago & MJ's talent still amazes!
Great job - That is what the young people do not comprehend - Every night was a highlight reel in itself . and When the game was over , you had to see more . In households across the nation MJ was the reason for get - togethers !
The way the Knicks fans are hype over him is amazing.
It’s nothing like those early Jordan years. His mastery of basketball made it true art.
Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York. That is why he always had a showdown in New York and performed to his best! Legend man!!
jason graham ...Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York. However, he was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. Air left the Apple, when he was still a toddler...a baby! Make like a stop sign...STOP!
@@brucescott4261 he wore carolina shorts under his bulls uniform. Played ball at UNC. Bought the Charlotte Hornets. Set Laney HS records in NC. Says "I'm just a country boy from North Carolina " in the AIRTIME video. It's like military babies that are born in Germany but grew up in IOWA. They're from Iowa, not Germany. They're American, not German.
He performed his best because he said that NY was the Meca of basketball so he wanted to play the best in the biggest stage
New yorkers Love MJ
His 7th game and gets cheered that loud in your opponents stadium. Let that sink in.
I've never seen an away crowd cheer for lebron like this....ever!!!
Every game was a highlight reel. I haven't watched a full NBA game since he retired.
Watching these old Jordan games makes me realize the amount of points he created for other players without even getting the assist stat.
Jordan was at his most athletic in his early 20's and unfortunately we don't get high quality video of it.
Everyone knew they were witnessing a thing of beauty!
"For The Love Of The Game" Michael Air Jordan My G.O.A.T.
3:52 that’s arguably the best camera angle ever for basketball
I’m ashamed to admit how old I am but I was a kid when he rose to prominence. There was nothing like it and there hasn’t been ever since. Sure there has been hype around high profile players but this young man came in and took over and did things no one thought was humanly possible
Why would you be ashamed to admit how old you are?
@@chitownsuperfan 😁
Michael Jordan single handedly made basketball a popular sport. It was a distant third in the early 80's behind football and baseball.
Michael Jordan is forever....THE GOAT!!!!!!
This 1 man was blessed with such ridiculous skills. No one is anywhere near his class.
Nice to see him still young..
I was at this game and we all knew that he would be great . We knew from college.
Don't forget, Michael was born in Brooklyn. He was blessed at birth. NY fans appreciate that.
Watched this on 2x speed. It's amazing how many times Jordan is all over the place.
To watch this art at 2x speed is a crime.
MJ, airness, Michael Jordan is the goat 🐐 in basketball. Hands down.
Yup & he will remain the goat 🐐 for many many years to come. Btw, I am a die hard Lakers Magic Johnson fan @ 💜💛 but hands down MJ is the best to ever do it. & With me, it is all about respect 👊🏾✌🏾
Who is that leBum james they saying the Goat?
Not Pippen!,,
I forgot how good 80s basketball was. I love the tight defense, even full court. I'd be happy to see us return to those set of rules: handchecking, offensive fouls, and the players didn't complain as much about the fouls.
Not everyone throwing up 100 3 pointers a game
In other word you would like to see real basketball again
Sorry bro. I'm paying my dude 100 million with 70 guaranteed. No way in hell I'm letting my bread basket for the foreseeable future get hammered going into the lane like that. Insurance is already too high and it would still be a loss if we had to cash out. You better leave my princesses alone and keep your hands to yourself.
Nba soon will have the uniforms fitted with bubble wrap linings, to insurance no princesses get hurt. Pre 2004 nba was great yo watch now video game nba is more Worth while. Mj is the greatest.
@@MrGlovesave33 Ot would be interesting to be able to somehow time travel players. I think Durant would be scary playing with Don Nelson's Bucks. Or Warriors. Running floor with Sun's. Denver, recall Buffalo Braves? Had Ernie degrigorio, Randy Smith and a 6'10 Bob Mcadoo. Run and gun.
How time flies...I was seventeen when the GOAT had his rookie season...
MJ was different! Defense/Offense with elan and panache! God of Basketball!
The commentator was prophetic when he said we will see a lot of that in his 15years. That was prophetic as Jordan will finally retire for a second time in 1999 15 years after he started playing and had retired for the first time
I wish they'd bring bag that script logo on the jerseys for Chicago. Such a classic look
Jordan is a complete player, he plays both ends of the floor.
In between floating and flying
man watching Jordan is definitely inspiring
when I was a kid we don't have tv.but I always hear the name of Jordan...so famous....what if Jordan era already has youtube
Did you hear that led the acc in 3 point percentage!
I regret not watching more of him. I haven’t watched a game since he retired. It just don’t get any better then that.
"Thats a shot we will probably see alot the next 15 years" man its crazy to think he was actually 100% right when he said that!
Heck… I watched Jordan in college… (and subsequently in the ‘84 Olympics) so I was convinced then. Also his first game in the Garden as a Bull inspired the famous Sports Illustrated cover “A Star is Born” photographed in the Garden and during that road trip (I believe it was the next morning- )he appeared on the TODAY show interviewed by Bryant Gumbel who pointed out the incredible size of Jordan’s hands, a la, Dr.J - which obviously gave him the great control he had with the ball in the air! The first time I saw Jordan play in person was in an exhibition game at the old Richmond Coliseum (Virginia) - October 1988 - he was like a lightning quick cat powered by rockets- stunningly spectacular and unreal!!🙏🏿🌅☝🏾❤️👍🏾✊🏾🏀
68%!? FG. NY fans used to love Jordan. I remember when they were announcing the starters for the bulls in MSG, they would say "From Brooklyn... Michael Jordan," instead of North Carolina.
In the mecca 🗽 we respect the goat 🐐.... Plus he was born in Brooklyn so we claim him.... NYC stand up
ny has created many of the great human beings. and then some!
Great video. Jordan dominated on both ends unlike almost anyone else in the history of the game. Spare me the crap about LeBum and the rest. Jordan will never be matched in the game…ever.
Leflop isn't even close. He's a stat chaser who has played for an extremely long time. Not saying he isn't great,he's one of the best in the modern game. But if you put MJ in this no touch league he'd easily score 40pts a game without trying. Can you imagine the stars of the 80s and 90s playing in this can't touch him era? There's about a dozen who could average 40.
I learned something new about MJ!
I grew up outside of Chicago with Michael Jordan posters everywhere, I watched or listened (on the radio) to every game he ever played. I know his stats forward and backward...
But I did not know that he led the ACC in 3-point % his senior year of college. That's a good one!
Junior year.
Jr year, he declared draft eligibility, skipped sr yr. But yea I agree I never knew that either. It’d be nice to find out exactly where he placed, as far as 3 pt % goes, in the entire ncaa that year
@@blankmandastankman yeah, you're right. I forgot he went pro after his Jr. year
Jordan said he did not focus on the three point shot because he did not want to be sitting on the 3 point line waiting for his team mates to find him.
Exactly no-one wanted to see his athletic artistry go to waste sitting around waiting for someone to toss him the rock for a three.
just awesome
Jordan greatest of all time
Wow!! You did a great job with those videos... can't wait to them all...
Loved the sparkle dunk. This 1 is famous, crowd then adopts Mike’s skills and magic.
G.O.A.T MICHAEL JEFFREY JORDAN 23 🐐 🏀 🔥👌
That boy MJ put the Knicks on the grill @ the Cookout🔥🔥🔥On another the commentary predicted the future of his career, they said so much things that was accurate.
Cool style mate.
The old commentary plus cut in vocals. Just subtle cameos.
Liked it.
1984 was a great year!!!
I was @the Garden that night. My senior year of high school...
Damn. Shoutout to the color guy who said MJ would play 15 years in the NBA!
Young goat🐐🐐🐐
That dunk was poetry in motion.🐐
Very nice. Thank you.
@11:00 If Big Bill Cartwright only knew how his and Michael Jordan's careers would be forever entwined just a few short years later. lol. Such an underated part of the Bulls first three championships, and an amazing father figure in the Bulls locker room. Thanks for sharing this vid mate, such a trip down memory lane, and a game I'd never seen before.
Just think, half of the bulls team was either drunk or high at the moment back then lol
The 🐐 Mj
Michael Jordan bought the NBA back to live. The NBA was in ruins til MJ came aboard!,,
Ummm...no. Bird and Magic revitalized the NBA beginning in 1979-80. Michael Jordan was a rookie supernova in 1984-85 following the legendary 7 game 1984 Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers (a rematch of the 1979 NCAA Championship Game). The NBA was in a GREAT position in terms of quality basketball and fan interest in 1984. With that said, MJ definitely took the NBA by storm and was must see TV whenever he played. He was clearly the future (1990s) and helped the NBA reach its greatest heights that haven't been seen since.
Correct

This channel is great! Chicago born and raised, and these archives are gold! Da Bulls!
12:01 Commentators: "Great shot by Mr Jordan. I have a feeling we're gonna be saying that a lot for the next 15 years."
"You already have him playing 15 seasons?"
Jordan played 15 seasons.
11:57 Prophecy by the Commentator: What a shot by Mr. Jordan. I guess we are going to say this for the next 15 Years.
Big O probably had a wild weekend in NYC *sniff sniff
Young MJ was ruthless!!
And he never changed the older he got!
Nice video, totally on point with the comments
It's weird seeing Michael Jordan with hair. I'm looking at him thinking why does old school Michael look so different?? It took a minute to notice it's the hair. Damn he has to be the most amazing rookie ever.
Rookie MJ many took notice had many players back then couldn't believe what they were seeing. And MJ defense was overlooked.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 much appreciation for making these videos!!!
Didn’t think he could hit the 15 footer 🤣
The irony
Hell of a match
Your content is awesome. Love that your bringing a eye to the young Michael Jordan. Not the championships but the games that made him a Legend....!
Other awesome players destroyed pro players in their rookie years, but MJ destroyed legend players in his rookie year.

Love what you dud with mj's 1-hand reverse motion windmill dunk! (What people call rock the cradle or cradle dunk; but Mjs is different to Dr. J, because Jordan does the windmill backwards with motion going away from basket.) Unique effect on the ball, it works to enhanc4e the old vhs footage in this play. ~ Nymphopath (Thus my second channel for bball)
104 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Bulls were wrecking the Knicks!
Jordan lead the NCAA Atlantic Coast Conference in 3-point percentage, but so many people were critical of his shooting range when he entered the league!? WTF? People have to be assholes and find some imaginary fault with rookie stars. Claiming Jordan didn't play D, then saying he ha a lousy outside shot. Absolute BULLSHIT! (Still to this day, some people claim MJ cannot shoot. Former Kings PG Jason Williams spoke basketball blasphemy about MJ recently, insulting him about his shooting.) Anyway, they did that shit to Iverson in his rookie year, claiming he made too many turnovers, but his turnovers per game was almost the same as other perennial all-stars at the time. (Couldn't find a fault with Iverson, then when turnover allegations were refuted, they claimed he SHOT too much for a PG. He shot too much because he was the most proficient shooter and scorer on his team. Above Stackhouse, Weatherspoon and USA baller Derrick Coleman.)
18:29 - Have you ever heard a crowd cheer like that for an opposing player !? Imagine how the Knicks players felt about that 🤣
Yes. Walter Payton!!!
Knicks fans had no clue that some Michael Jordan's greatest performances would be right before their eyes at Madison Square Garden
Validate my point about who at the time was considered the best in the game. They keep referencing Dr J. Jordan almost eliminated the need for Doc. No one has been able to do that to Air thus far.
I got the first air jordans about a week after they hit the market, wore them to school and people laughed (because of the never-before-seen colors)- most of whom hadn't a clue who MJ was, let alone what kind of shoes he wore.
Wouldn't it be great to shove it in their faces today. People so rude and arrogant.
I would like to have a clip of the announcer saying how different the bulls team look because of Michael Jordan. That a rookie is making a team of coke head veterans play better. I need it for the LBJ nuthuggers/MJ haters on Facebook
Same
So glad you pointed out this was something folks never saw before, every game you were wondering what he’d do next.. once in a life time athlete, without him many wouldn’t be today.
Great vid. Yeah, mike couldn't come back, he was done - it would've been disrespectful. He played like a Vet, not a rookie..
We knew it when he left NC, and that shot he made to beat Georgetown, and that was history and so on and so on.🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
GOAT AMONG ALL GOATS FROM EVERY SPORT.
Ohhh! Mamma Mia! Beautiful thing! Foged Aboud it! Enjoyed in video
Not many rookies out of the gate are this seasoned looking & spectacular dominant excellent etc. He was called the next dr j & no offense to erving but quickly became air jordan & forever every new young talent was the next jordan their still looking b/c their will never be anyone like this ever again. I say this is a former 90s die hard knick fan too. The garden crowd is classy & knows their bball they would cheer for great hustle all stuff that wasnt in that stat sheet. I recall a game where the Knicks were close to a record of keeping a certain number of teams in a row under 90 against the 94 lowly celtics at that time & a stat obviously was put up & the fans immediately picked up on it right away. Anyway my point is the knick fans are a smart crowd & they always appreciated an opponents greatness. They also knew a chump & scottie pippen was a player the garden crowd gave zero respect to & it was funny as hell. They would cat call in an obvious sarcastic way " scottttttieeeee scotttttieee " when he was kicked out of a game like in 93 game 2 the crowd sang in delight " hit the road Jack " so as a ny knick fan we knew scottie was a soft baby head case. I am so disgusted the way he has trashed mj.
He also told the post that he purposely did not tell mj he was sorry that his dad was u know MURdered !!!! Hey pippen ur only hi light is dunking on ewing & telling spike lee to shut up. In 17 years thats ur only big hi light !! Yea well ewing at least tried even though he was already late. Pippen for no reason stood over ewing & taunted him . Ok. Scottie still had a putrid game anyway. He shot his usual 36% that series he shot in the 20% range a few games. Anyway how sad for scottie that the only way he got all this attention was again talking about Micheal jordan.
Wow ! Natalie, I never knew this concerning Scottie, but then again I am a die hard Laker fan, but I don’t even see anybody close to MJ & if there was a distant 2nd, I’d have to give the nod to the late Kobe, but MJ is in a class all by himself 👊🏾
Scottie started taking shots at michael a few years ago and i noticed it right away. Eventually stephen A smith called him out and he apparently seemed to kind of change his tune at that time... but as time passed we have what we have today.. pippen shamelessly trying to discredit mj. Scottie was good but he acts like he would be some franchise superstar on another team which he wouldnt. Playing alongside mj had him feeling like he was better than he was...
I love this comment, I feel the sports love and I can relate. You lost me for a sec when you called the garden crowd classy but I get what you meant by it!
Rs. Skip may have been right tbh. He is right a lot more than people admit. Even about Aaron rodgers he nailed it esp after the packers' embarrassing loss a couple weeks ago
Love your channel man! Keep it up! MJ da GOAT!!
Young AIR GOAT
13:24 the ball boy patted MJ on the back after getting up from that hard foul. If that happened to Lebron, he'd have flopped and the kid would be fired!
Lol 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Oh he would have been fouled by the pat on the back from that guy as well. Would have rolled over to the bench grabbing his head.
The elegance of that Dr J baby cradle sending MSG into bedlam says it all
