I like this approch. I hope the police gets more psycological checks so, if they are too stressed they know they can be helped without the risk of being judged or to lose their job (obviously there are exceptions). On top of this more has to be done socially so to deminish conflicts in the first place. Still, good to know that positive steps are taken to have a healthier outcome.

What an important topic. In the German speaking part of Switzerland I don't see this development in the police force. I would say the French speaking part of Switzerland is far ahead on this topic. I hope they will train also with their German speaking colleagues and work together on this immensly important topic. Especially, the psychological work on the police force themselves is key. So they can develope themselves with empathy get aware of pre-judgments and social issues and learn also to protect their own mental health. It's for sure a tough job. But it is highly problematic that not everyone manages the balance between power and doing the right thing. I admire those who fight the good fight and want to do this job with grace common sense and as humanly as possible. It starts with normalizing to take care of your own mental health in the work place. Everyone should be able to have a therapist. Just the way we have a family doctor.

German ones are still in ww2 but at least they can access all our personal devices now without a judge saying yes. just from a whim so that they can leak all our private stuff online because they can't even handle their own cyber security.

In Switzerland like in the rest of the world, populism, neo fascists and racism is more and more present these last 20 years. The local and national police also has to deal with violent agents and racist repression.
The main problem is at recruitment because working in the police is not seen as very attractive for most people. The police then has to educate recruits who mostly look for action and are frustrated because the job mainly is social work.
The power and respect they're given combined to the fact that they are almost untouchable and frustrated gives a dangerous cocktail... I mostly don't trust other officers than proximity police and feel less safe crossing a policeman then a stranger in the street.
In my life, they were the most humiliating people I had to face, who disrespected me, forced me several times for body search withou explanations, and arrested friends of mine with clearly unadapted strength and violence assuming they agreed to collaborate

I am Swiss and our police is a joke, but that is because of the law. if a men stalks a woman they cannot do anything and they just say we need to wait that he hits you, and even if he does so they give a ridiculous sentence, the same is for driving. 30 km/h more than the limit and you are a criminal and you go to jail but someone that steals a lot of money they do a few days and is ok. Switzerland is not like you all think about. one of the most expensive country where the normal peaple are very poor and they dont talk about it, peaple are angry and they are continuing to make peaple more poor and make us fight each other while the rich become more richer, we have something called referendum where we could in theory request a change in the law with voting but more than one time they did not do what we requested and that for me says democracy is dead here.
