    Wizards and Warriors Channel fantasy animated documentary video series on the lore Warhammer 40k Universe and the Horus Heresy, started with the discussion of how the humanity fared in the 3rd millennium and beyond, how the Emperor started uniting the Humanity and the beginning of the Great Crusade, as Emperor and his sons - the Primarchs use the newly created space marines to bring the Humans together through conquest. They would fight the Xenos, including the Orks and this episode featured the battle of Ullanor against an Orkish Waaagh ( • Warhammer 40k - Start ... ). The Primarchs grew dissatisfied when the militaristic side of the Imperium began waning in importance, and more power was given to normal humans. Many secretly broke the rules made by the Emperor, unknowingly opening themselves to the machinations of the Chaos Gods. While all this was happening, the newly appointed Warmaster, Horus Lupercal, struggled to keep his brothers in check and prove that he was a capable leader - the seeds of chaos were sown ( • Warhammer 40k - Seeds ... ). Horus falls to Chaos due the plots of Erebus, leading to the Burning of Prospero, which was one of the greatest misunderstandings in the history of the Imperium leading to the fall of the Thousands Sons to chaos ( • Horus Falls - WH40k Lo... ). He was now ready to begin the Civil War at Isstvan III ( • Battle of Isstvan III ... ), and the victory there allowed the Traitorous legions to ambush the Loyalists at Isstvan V, leading to the dropsite massacre ( • Dropsite Massacre at I... ). In the aftermath, Horus continued gaining ground, winning the battle of Phall and taking over a large chunk of galaxy ( • Galaxy in Flames - Bat... ). Some loyal Legions, including the Dark Angels, just learned about the heresy and started making their moves, leading to the Battles of Chondax System, Alaxxes Nebula, Prospero and Signus Campaign ( • Battle of Chondax and ... ), while on the side of the galaxey, the Fate of Ultramar was decided in the battles of Calth and Nuceria.

    For some context, in angron primarch novel, the nails are described by their librarians as having a black spider-like presence in the warp(which could explain why librarians themselves couldn't be implanted with them and why angron suffered much more in presence of librarians/psykers in general). Still on Angron, it was known way before the battle that the nails were killing him(never out loud). Regarding the destroyed abyss class, that was an underrated event and book. Lastly, it's customary in audio books that c in nuceria sounds more like s rather than k, and e in macragge being silent.
    Props to portrait maker, managed to give a somewhat battlescarred appearance to lorgar and air of dignity to erebus (the asshole, many crimes are attributed to his usually smug face, even in the very last book in the siege of terra segment).

    I HATED the scale of armies used by scifi writers in 40k . One million soldier might sound a lot but Germany alone sent over 3 Million soldiers in operation Barbarossa so you think the Imperium of Man with its hive worlds and forge worlds would see 1 million guardsman as a rounding error. It's like how old scifi books described distant worlds in the mere millions of km because it sounded like a lot but in reality, it wouldn't even get you to Mars.

    • @CMAzeriah
      @CMAzeriah Před 3 měsíci +7

      You have to remember that these millions of troops have to be supported and transported by fleets of ships. A force in the millions requires tens of millions more to sustain it. Given that warp travel is months to years therefor all those troops are stuck in a confined area for that time, they consume a lot of food and other such supplies. This places a cap on how many troops are in any given invasion fleet. There is a reason the big E created the Astartes. They were a force multiplier and sledgehammer that could compete with the horrors out in the void.

    • @MrMaximkozin
      @MrMaximkozin Před 2 měsíci +4

      The Mongols killed anywhere between 40 to 70 million people (it's always hard to count how many people die in China because of events like this) on the high estimate that's a similar amount of dead to that of WW-2, they did it with no bombers or death camps, and their army never exceeded 150k people. Here were talking about armies that have to be ferried by space ships, they do have nukes, titans, demons and what have you. A million or ten million human soldiers have almost no effect in this setting.

    • @stevens9625
      @stevens9625 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@MrMaximkozin That's right. Put 10s of millions of soldiers on a planetary scale and they'll only cover the area of a pin head especially in a universe where hive cities exists. It'll be like a local UFC cage fight deciding the fate of USA.

    Which alternate Heresy Angron is better?
    In the sense is it better Angron who is healed from the butcher's nails or Angron who never had the butcher's nails (example Blood Angels)?
    He who looks like a barbarian gladiator but is actually a rock of discipline and valor worthy for the World Eaters (and the Emperor)?
    (The Crimson Slaughter certainly doesn't need butcher's nails to create an ocean of blood)
    With his warriors, then finally with his sons, Angron manages to liberate the world of Nuceria and become its ruler.
    It would be clearer to say that: Angron is saved and raised by the village of the city of Desh'ea and then sells himself as a gladiator planning its conquest and liberation, neither he nor Oenomaus receive the butcher's nails but they are still forced to fight with Angron who gives an honorable death to his dear mentor, then (recruiting more villagers and soldiers over time) in the last battle the Emperor decides to send the World Eaters to defend Angron and his gladiators (recognizing potential new forces for his XII Legion) and subsequently, with all medical science, heal the heads of the surviving men.
    A good example is Vladus Barca himself (practically the loyalist version of Angron).
    And the World Eaters choose to repaint parts of themselves red to honor the title (and above all the sacrifice) of their father: the Lord of the Red Sands.
    Precisely as an example the Blood Angels, since the World Eaters of Angron do not suffer from the butcher's nails they still suffer from a kind of mental torment, the Blood Voice, which forces the most affected to shed enormous blood in order to gain some respite (of course the Librarians, using the Primarch's empathic psychic power, try their best to heal everyone).
    Angron also lived alongside ferocious predators, the wild Wolves of Nuceria (hard-skinned beasts), before being taken by the people of the village.
    And just like the Iron Hands with the Bulls of Medusa, the Dark Angels with the Lions of Caliban and the Space Wolves with the Wolves of Fenris, the World Eaters learn to build a bond with the creatures of their home planet.
    Another good possibility is this!
    Oenomaus had already freed Desh'ea and ruled House Thal'kyr, then after hearing about the boy named Angron, raised first by wolves and then by villagers, he decides to recruit him among his gladiators, seeing him as their hope.
    Angron thus grows well becoming a just adult, in a reborn city with a large army of strong warriors, successfully leading his valiant soldiers (and many others thanks to his empathic psychic power), with the title Lord of the Red Sands, against the tyrants (witnessing the tragic but honorable death of his father figure in the last battle), ultimately becoming the Gladiator King, powerful ruler of all Nuceria.
    Some time after the planet's pacification Angron meets the Emperor, this time voluntarily embracing his place as son, Primarch and father of the XII Legion of War Wolves (World Eaters), officially making Nuceria their homeworld.
    Or maybe even this: all the cities of Nuceria are already free and governed by several Gladiator Kings (the bloody slavery just a bad memory), who over time see the rise of the wolf Angron Thal'kyr as a sign of a worthy ruler (and future worthy Primarch)!
    (The path like that of Sanguinius)

      Khorne❤️Magic🔴: Metal🔴 (Iron❤️Blood)!
      Perturabo the Demon Primarch of Khorne and his Iron Warriors: just like living armor leaking hot iron generated by their own boiling blood!
      (And most terrifyingly, despite their rage their minds are intact)
      According to logic, how would Perturabo seal his pact with Khorne, destroying first Monarchia and then Olympia?
      Can he become a master of destructive Metal Magic, then creating bloodthirsty Sorcerers of Khorne in his army?
      Perfect example is the magic of Azariah Kyras as the Daemon Prince of Khorne!
      Not Kharn but Kroeger the Betrayer!

    "There was no chain of command. I decided I needed to build one." - Aeonid Thiel
    An honourable mention should go to Aeonid Thiel, an Ultramarine censured for his Astartes vs Astartes theorems, which were seen as treasonous. He was sent to the Macragge's Honour and had his helmet painted red as a mark of censure.
    When the Battle of Calth began, Aeonid was waiting in Roboute Guilliman's office. Knowing he may be expelled or executed, he decided to play with the weapons in his Primarch's personal armoury.
    As chaos erupted, Aeonid raided all the weapons from Guilliman's armoury, gathered a motley crew of marines, army and navy personnel, chapter serfs and an ogryn, and armed them with all the weapons.
    Together they fought the daemons, retook the bridge and rescued the First Chapter Master Marius Gage.
    His red helmet, once a mark of censure, became a badge of honour and would denote the rank of sergeant in the Ultramarines.

    I'd reccommend anyone watching to go read "Know no Fear". While this video was a brilliant summation, it sadly doesnt capture first, the serenity and the optimism of Calth before the battle starts. It doesnt capture the moment of realisation that the fleet tender "Campanille"'s Trajectory happens in such a small frame of time after reading a whole chapter dedicated in minute detail to the carnage it causes. It doesnt capture the epicness of Word Bearer's ships being described as "executing" ultramarine vessels in orbit . It does not do justice to the descriptions of Baneblade's falling out of the sky as heavy lifters are blown from the air. Lastly you might think you dislike the blue boys but after reading a whole book about them getting absolutely battered the sheer relief when you finally read the words "Server Tawren, addressing the Thirteenth Legion Ultramarines, and all forces allied to their standard..." is unmatched.

    Even here the brave souls of the Campanile get miss treated it was not a word bearers ship it was loyalist but taken with all hands, all of them in the dark screaming and suffocated, precise details of the circumstances are lost, and alone in such darkness one small ship, overburdened and wheezing 3500 souls, it had been penetrated by something in the night, made in the night, made out of the night, squirting through every air gate and hatch seal and vent tube, screaming and suffocated the crew with nowhere to run to, no escape, no door that would open except to bare and airless space, and still the thing made of night filling the Campanile up, every hall and deck space, blinding and choking and drowning, filling rooms filling mouths filling lungs filling ears filling stomachs swallowing the screams of the dying and laughing them back in mocking voices. So that it's anchorage codes could be used to penetrate the platform yards.
