Let’s go
I use a Shelford preamp instead of a 1073; what do you think about it? Also, are you using a vintage 1073?
Love the analog process.
awesome video bro!
Excellent video! Thanks. Who is the vocalist? Is this track, or other work from her, available yet?
Holy smokes that vocal performance sounded like it’s off the radio right from the get-go, and live. The singer’s skill and tone makes life easier in the studio for sure, doing most of the heavy lifting for you 👏
this is the part of recording that they don’t show you before these pro tutorials ! it’s not rocket science it is achievable with the right treatment procedure and practice
🦾🦾
Well said!
And performance
Daamn...! No one realized she sings like beyonce,,,the producer is giving her the best🎉🎉🎉i love it❤❤❤❤
There's not much content like this out there, thank you! Great quality :)
Excellent tutorial. This helps people feel less nervous and more confident. Experience is everything though…
but "tutorial" implies possibility to repeat...
@@unclecrassius2318 I learned🤷🏾♂️😁
One of the most beautiful tutorials I've watched on youtube
Exactly bro!!!
Please keep making these videos, i live vicariously through you. 🙏
New sub. Awesome content! Hope you do a full band recording session in the near future. It's always inspiring watching a pro working in real time and facing issues and making decision as you go.
I loved this video! Great insight into the process!
This was quality, i am currently recording a female vocal and pretty much doing the same thing, its good to know i am on the right track when it comes to recording as i think when done right at the begining stages the mixing will be so much easier. Please make more of these videos. 😊
Wow, that was awesome. The vocalist was incredible, and it was awesome to see her dreams turn into reality. Amazing video:)
Wow this is exalent and professional. Luking forward for the mixing and mastering process 💪💪💪💪
Beautiful, thank you for this video, please do more recording videos.
The beauty of a console is just amazing, the depth and separation are just unmatched by an in-the-box mix in my opinion. She is a great singer and a great vocal chain for her voice.
The vocals sound AMAZING!!!
What an amazing singer!!
This was so informational, dope stuff!
This is what i was looking for!! thanks for making this awesome video
I love these kind of workflow videos, I feel like an intern here.
Subscribed!
Este video es Oro Puro! Educa y motiva. GRACIAS!
In all seriousness, great work and thank you for sharing your process 🎙️🔥♥️ and your dog 🐕. I love animals

So dope to hear! Thanks for leaving this comment. And go check out her artist page on apple music! MAGNE is her name
Great video love this!!!
tbh i learn a lot from those type of videos! keep it up!
Love this. How come no other tutorial shows this part of the process?
Looking forward to the mixing and mastering part.

Very interesting, and wow! what an amazing voice
This was unique and very dope.
Can you show us the full mixing process of this recording sessions(if you mix it) without any cut, or others..
your videos are so helping man thanks you
Thank you for your share , its very helpful
This sound clean as hell
Great video.
Well done. 👍🏾
Thank you

First time watching your videos and it was so interesting
best tutorial ever bro...
Really amazing
Good job! Very useful. 😊
Really nice!
Great tutorial
I feel like i was in the session ... nice one Thom
I cant believe I just realized I wasn't subscribed to your channel!!! I've watched so many of your videos. To answer the question at the end of the video, I'm currently using a u87 AI with a Pro MPA 2 pre amp into a WA-1B Compressor (Tube Tech Clone).
Thank you for this video
Sheeeesh , What converter you use ?‼️‼️🔥🔥 this was dope af 🫶🏾 thanks for this bro 😎
Quality content 🏆
Lovely content. shes a good singer
nice vid man thanks
Awesome 😊
Great video I would love it if you would show how to set up hardware inserts in ProTools. Thanks.
Great video I would love it if you would show how to set up hardware inserts in Protools Thanks.
My go to vocal mic is my Neumann U-87 Ai and my recording software is UAD Luna. I used Pro Tools before i start to use Luna.
cool, thanks !!
This is awesome. I have been researching how to get my hands on experience in a Recording Studio and This seems close enough to actually having that connection in the Industry and knocking out those studio hours if you don't have the actual equipment to do so. Everything done digitally in DAW compliments the workflow. Still trying to figure out that board back there.
Thank you for that compliment! If you want to take an even deeper dive, check out the Virtual Internship if you hit the JOIN button under my videos. There’s an hour long version of this vocal recording, as well as drum recording and many mix breakdowns! A lot of stuff to learn!
Preprocessing is always a great place to start, and I always prefer the outboard gear. Neve pre Amp is the best 👌🏻
awesome buddy
We need mix breakdowns bro. Great tutorial, youve gained a subscriber.
Have you watched all mix breakdowns in The Virtual Internship yet? There’s about 10 hours worth and more coming up!
Also, check out the one i did with Boombox on their channel
Im inlove with this song. ❤❤
Me too!😱 make sure to check out the rest of het music! She goes by the name of MAGNE
Thank you 🙏🏾🙌🏾🎶🎶🎶🎶💯
This is cold as ice bro
She’s talented
Awesome video and great vocalist. Does the 500 series SSL modules sound the same in comparison to the console?
súper cool gained a sub
I saw a dogs distance from a mixing console, but i did not see a singer's distances from a mic in different sections of a song. Is setting a compressor on a soft parts on purpose ? I would also like to see a nice reverb that was present all the time during the recording. Otherwise, the result is wonderful. Great work !
Cool ❤
Great video. Can you share why you chose the u47 for the lead vocals and the u67 for backing vocals? I would think it would be the other way around, with the U47 being darker… thanks!
why not use the ssl for monitoring for headphones, instead of having the buffer in Protools ruin the timing? That's how I have it set up... the vocalist has no need to hear any delay whatsoever.
Exactly my thoughts as a console guy… it’s likely he understands that most people don’t have a console and will need to know how to fix the latency…
or perhaps he has no hardware reverb for the singer’s performance
@@hauntedbytheliving1175 you can see a Lexicon Reverb fixed in the console, so he could use that one for sure
in the playback engine setting it looked like it said UAD Apollo… you should have zero latency
great video.... it would be great to see how you record a live band, see the issue of bleeding and how you handle everything! greetings
Will definitely do that later on! Right now i want to start focussing on separate instruments first. Do check out the videos in which i do a breakdown of previous live recording sessions ive done
@@thomasvopstal great... always pay attention to what you upload
Bro thank you
Love for Juno ❤
i'm using the rode ntk1 its not the best one but it get its job done, and great video btw !! greetings outa amsterdammmmmm
I found a cool FREE tool to remove vocals, make sure to check out EASEUS Vocal Remover here:

My dream is to record a song in a studio like this. It's really cool🥺🥺❤🔥
while recording are you using an analog reverb or a digital one (idont mean in the print track obviusly)? and do you have some plugins on the rec track? love this type of content so many gems
Universal Audio Sphere DLX Modeling Sony C800. Then for extra thickness, I stack vocals with an sm7b and align them to the main vocals.
Make a video of how you understand the difference type of compressors 🤞🏾
Thankyou for showing each steps of rec session. Please answer my question I wanna know why did you use the mic up side down ?
Sure thing! I like to turn the mic upside down so the artist has their hands free and there’s nothing in the way
we have completed "music production video bingo"
* top singer performance
* bank-breaking gear
* professional music track
* often can't hear what changed
* "rough mix" sounds ready to get the prize
Right, so all we need is a $3000 Neumann U47, Neve1073 EQ and Tube tech compressor going into Pro Tools through a SSL 64 channel desk, PMC monitors and a professional track…
Nice
The Dog 🐕 is taking it all in 😃♥️😂
🔥🔥🔥
Thankyou!
this guy is cool.....................................
Nice video! I found it curious why in mixing section you chopped the vocal into separate tracks and then foldered them. Why did you do that? Slightly diffrent treatment on each section? Did'nt know folder acts like a group sen track with its effects 😉
Thanks!
Мне очень понравилось, компрессоры крутые!)))
So what eq setting on 1073? What eq settings on SSL? That was the most important thing to know…
Hi Thomas, i have a small question about your settings for monitoring. What is your round trip latency when you use 64 samples in Pro Tools. I get a roundtrip latency of 5.4 milliseconds at 64 samples and i feel this is to much for singing. thank you.
Good video. What are the specs of your Mac?
🔥
Awesome Video , I noticed most people like to keep the threashold on 10 in the cl 1b for tracking , do you believe the same can apply if I used the plugin version in the mixing phase?
Thanks! The threshold is completely dependent on input level and amount of compression you want to apply. I’d recommend not sticking to a specific value on the knob itself, but try to listen to where the amount of compression sounds best.
@@thomasvopstal thanks for the reply , I've a long time user of fabfilter c-2 but the cl 1b is quie nice also (Industry nice lol). I've been reading and researching a lot about what people in the industry use to make myself ready, plus I want to add analog flavor to my mixing process 🙏🏾🙏🏾
