That shot shows, left to right: John 'Deakie' Deacon, Bass Player and occasional vocals, next Roger Taylor, Drums and vocals, then (Sir!)Brian May, Lead Guitar and vocals, and then, of course, the one and only Freddie Mercury, vocals, piano, guitar and front man, though he never classed himself as leader - just another member of Queen. All songwriters and all absolute LEGENDS!

  • @jodyheigaard9949

Queen's final lineup formed in 1971 & they were together until Freddie's death in 1991 from complications of AIDS.
    The band consists of:
Freddie Mercury - vocals (most often lead), piano, guitar, degree in graphic design (designed all Queen logos.
Brian May - guitar, vocals (occasional lead), piano, PhD in astrophysics (has worked with NASA). Built his guitar with his father out of an old fireplace and odds and ends. Still tours with Roger as Quee + Adam Lambert.
Roger Taylor - drums, vocals (occasional lead & all the REALLY high notes are Roger), guitar, piano, has a degree in biology and was in dentistry school until Queen got serious. Still tours with Brian as Queen + Adam Lambert.
John Deacon - bass, guitar, piano, occasional background vocals in concert, has an advanced degree in electrical engineering and designed a unique amp called the Deaky Amp that Brian uses to this day. Retired from music in 1997.
Each of the 4 members wrote multiple top 10 hits & all have individually been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Their catalog has over 200 songs on 15 studio albums along with multiple compilation & live albums. Their music spans multiple genres including rock, metal, pop, funk, blues, gospel, rockabilly, folk and even opera.
Somebody to Love Montreal '81 is probably the best live song to start with. LIVE AID '85 is also a must (it's been said to be the best live rock performance EVER - do the entire set at once for the complete impact).
Queen is truly at their best during live performances. The downside to that though is that you miss a lot of gems that are hidden on the studio albums. Queen has multiple songs that just aren't able to be performed live to their standards because of the layering with voices & instruments that they can do in a studio.
Other than Live Aid, there are 4 major concerts I would recommend any song from:
    Rainbow '74
    Hamersmith Odeon '75
    Montreal '81
    Wembley '86
There are some good performances also from Milton Keynes, Hyde Park '75, Rio '85 & Budapest.
The Queen rabbit hole is deep & vast, but musically, one of the most fascinating journeys you'll ever take.

Queen’s line-up has remained the same since they formed. Brian and Roger were in a band called Smile, fronted by Tim Staffel. Freddie used to attend their shows as a fan and when Tim left Freddie stepped in and called themselves Queen. John Deacon joined them and the rest is history.

In the studio versions, layering voices was indeed a thing. The live Montreal version of this song shows how they adapted the songs for the stage without the studio backing tracks. Just four musicians at the very top of their game. One of the few bands who were outstanding live - you don't know Queen until you've seen them in action. Freddie in particular was mesmerising and they always got the audience to interact. A good start would be their performance at Live Aid! One of the best performances you will ever see.

I recommend that you now watch this same song performed live in Montreal in 1981.
Freddie always ensured that every performance was different to keep the song 'fresh', and that if someone wanted to hear the studio version, they should just stay home and listen to the record. Besides, a lot of the studio recordings were impossible to reproduce live because of the multi-layering of voices.

Great reaction! You have no idea what you just got yourself into. You have to understand that queen touches every genre of music imaginable. Not only do they do rock ‘n’ roll incredibly but they also do R&B, blues, gospel, country, and western, even opera. They are the only band, where each member has been inducted into the songwriters Hall of Fame and Queen as a group, inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. Their performance at the charity event, live aid is considered, to this day, the greatest live performance by a rock band. Most reactors find out that when they start Reacting to Queen music, their subscribers increase quickly. Queen has a very loyal fan base. We call ourselves Queenies. I have the feeling that after sampling a few of their videos, you too will become a Queenie. Looking forward to more reactions to this incredible band on your channel.

I just came upon this channel this morning, left to right on that Image you mentioned. John Deacon (Bass Guitar) occasionally seen doing background vocals, Roger Taylor (Drums, vocals, and a brilliant high falsetto singing voice,) Sir Brian May (Lead Guitarist on occasion played keyboard as seen on the making of the "One Vison" music video; oh, if you ever react to "One Vision by Queen react to the EXTENDED version, that one will be a sure treat for you to watch because the video shows them back in the recording studio singing that song) and then of course Freddie Mercury (Lead vocals, pianist) All 4 band members have contributed to the band in terms of writing songs and creating hits, all of them wonderful, talented musicians. They never stuck to just one genre they went all over the genre spectrum just so you know. How about you react to their song Radio Ga Ga next (Written by Roger Taylor) or "Another one Bites the dust" (Written by John Deacon) or "We will Rock You" (Written by Brian May) or another songs written by Brian May (Fat Bottomed Girls and Hammer to Fall) or more songs written by Freddie Mercury, "We are the Champions", "Killer Queen", "Crazy little thing called love" (A tribute to Elvis Presley song), "Don't Stop me now") and there are so much more! I enjoyed your video reaction! Peace. ☮

OK - left to right in that photo are John Deacon (bass), Roger Taylor (drums), Brian May (guitar), Freddie Mercury (front man, lead vocals, piano). This is Freddie's song. ***** more info? Freddie Mercury (front man, lead singer, pianist, leotard wearer), if you can write it, Freddie can sing it!! Drummer (blonde) is Roger Taylor, he has the high pitched voice, but also quite a raspy one. Bassist is John Deacon, he seldom sings, licks his fingers when he's playing. Lead guitarist is Brian May (tall, curly haired) who has a mellow soft voice, and plays his handmade guitar named Red Special. They layer their vocals beautifully. All four are writers within the group.

Where Queen is reacted to, the Queenies will come! You will hardly find more devoted fans than Queenies, those who love and adore Queen. And damn, do we know our Queen facts!! Before you ask, Dr. Sir Brian May (the guitarist who did the solo) has naturally curly hair. He is 76 years old now and his hair looks exactly the same, but white. Well, a tad thinner, but who cares. Freddie, the lead singer (NOT the leader of the band as he will tell you in a dozen interviews) wears whatever the hell he wants. If you watch the 1981 Montreal Concert to the end, you will see him in tight white shorts, no undies, no shirt, no shoes, and a red bandana around his neck and a white hat. Roger and Brian (in the commentary of that concert) both shake their heads at Freddie's clothing choices sometimes. So seeing him in a leotard was nothing compared to what he would do sometimes. These guys are the most cerebral band that ever existed. All with degrees, Dr. Sir Brian May with his Doctorate in Astrophysics was knighted by King Charles last year. Roger is an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his service to music. John has retired and lives quietly with his wife of 49 years and they have 6 kids and loads of grandkids. And of course, we miss Freddie deeply. I was lucky enough to see Queen in 1978. I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for finding the correct rabbit hole to fall into!

I saw in an interview that Freddie's choice of outfit on the second night in Montreal was a reaction to being told what to wear by the production company. They wanted the band to wear the same clothes on both nights for continuity of filming and that outfit (or lack of it) was Freddie's response! 😂😂😂😂

@@BirgittHGer I don't think one version is better than the other. There would be no live version without the studio version. I find them both impressive, mind-blowing.

The highest voice? Roger Taylor, the drummer.
Better late to the party than never getting there.

This is good…. But only good compared to the 1981 Montreal version. Best one song performance ever filmed.

Sometimes I feel like a lot of these reaction videos are not genuine reactions. How are you asking for the names of the members, did you not do the research first?

Horrible interruptions. Why not just google their names when it’s over.

Oh wow I’m learning all sorts of things 🤣 I know the name Freddie Mercury but don’t think I had realized he was apart of Queen, thank you!
