Abandoned American Shoal Lighthouse in the Florida Keys

Welcome to American Shoal Lighthouse in the Florida Keys! Yes, a private buyer did buy this abandoned lighthouse in the Florida Keys for $860,000 in 2022! The real question is what would you do with a lighthouse if you purchased one??? We think it would be cool to restore this one and offer excursions out to the lighthouse with tours of the keeper's quarters. There are already excursions to Looe Key nearby, so its definitely doable. Or maybe do the ultimate airbnb experience???
In this video we boat out to the American Shoal Lighthouse. This red lighthouse is a sight to behold standing erect in the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys reef since 1880! We try our hand at fishing too. Any day spent on the water in the Florida Keys is a great day in our book!

Thank you! Not sure. We film with an iPhone and a DJI mini 3 drone. The mini 3 colors are more dull than real life so I have to adjust them a bit but other than that we don’t do anything else. Sorry if that’s no help.

I didn't think about it until you said it but how did termites get way out there? It would be nice if the new owner of the lighthouse would do like you said and also make it where a person could rent it for a weekend getaway. Whatever they do with it I'm sure they didn't pay that kind of money to do nothing. Those weeds you past on your way out to the lighthouse sometimes hold fish. Might be worth fishing around if you see it again. Good to see you two, happy Sunday.

There’s already snorkeling/diving excursions close by at Looe Key so it’s definitely doable. And making it a weekend getaway would be epic! Didn’t know there could be fish in those weeds- we’ll have to keep an eye out for them; thanks for the tip! Good to hear from you Trent 😃
