I love all amon amarth albums. It seems like the older ones had more influence on the death metal side of music, and the new ones are more thrashy and their newer songs tell more stories about norse mythology. I personally think their best work as a band was Once Send From The Golden Hall, i think that that album is flawless. Either way, Long Live Amon Amarth, See you in Valhalla!

It's astounding, because anyone with an ear for music can hear in their earliest stuff (before they were even Amon Amarth) that they have the makings for platinum labels. As early as Thor Arise and Fimbul Winter you can hear the definitive AA sound.

So beautiful! Does anyone know what's the guitar tuning? I'm not sure if it's B standard, like in their following albums. There's a tab for "The arrival of the Fimbul winter" where the tuning is C standard, I'm trying to write the tab for "Sorrow throughout the nine worlds" and C tuning seems to fit with the melodies, maybe it's C# because it seems to be the lowest chord. Thanks.

Black metal influence!? that's stupid... Amon Amarth was Thrash Metal and have personally stated to be Death Metal. Today they are The Melodic Death Metal Band. Fate of the Norms to Jomsviking is the timeline of real development and success. I enjoy crusher and Avenger but Twilight of The Thunder God, Fate of the Norns, and With Oden on Our Side hands down are the greatest melodic death metal albums of my personal collection. Crusher's heavy crashing sounds and crashing feel "crushes" my heart every time. Amon Amarth certainly is my favorite band.
