You’d better have deep pockets to run that m5
You buy it and keep it in a garage
Manual swapped one yooo
@@fantasyproduct1042 basically just have it like an ornament ? What fun is there in that? 😂
@@BullyBoxer appreciation of value. The whole video is about cars to invest in
@@fantasyproduct1042 no it’s not ,it’s about usable cars to invest in ,not white elephants .
5. Honda Integra Type R
4. Ford Focus RS
3. Nissan Sunny GTIR
2. Subaru Impreza WRX STI
1. BMW E60 M5
renault r5 turbo and intergralie missed out on both back in 90s wished i had bought one . could have picked a intergralie up for just short of 8 grand . i got a corrado vr6 instead which i still have its my weekend flyer. the 90's 😎😎
Pulsar GTIR owner. Had it for 8 years and it is a B-road weapon. Awesome car to drive set up correctly. A lot of fun.
Until the chocolate gearbox blows up 😂
Great cars though 😎
The chocolate gearbox is a myth luckily.
@@skykid4000I also have a gtir and I really think the gearbox gets a bad name from a time where the cars were cheap and people would abuse them and end up with broken parts. It’s a high strung homologation car , not meant to have its clutch dropped at red lights that’s just my two cents. I think that people putting in unsprung clutches into them also aided in the bad name. Mine has an act unsprung from previous owner and will be taking it out for a Cushbutton / oem style. I did end up buying a spare gearbox as I found one nearby me in Canada just in case! Cheers!
i want a sunny gtir but they so rare i have high doubts ill ever even see one
Love the Sunny GTI-R - very very difficult to find a good example
I just missed 10k manual Toyota supra 10 years ago. Now they over 40k
I sold a bronze coloured manual TT supra about 12 years ago for £9k. Was the best car I ever owned, better than equivalent skylines etc.
Love the GTiR, the gearbox issue was due to people dropping the clutch many times after altering the engine to over 350BHP
The problem with that M5 is that its never been much of a looker.
you crazy. Best looking M5
@@user-yg8pv3pd3h you might like it. But it isn't widely regarded as near the top of the lineup. But it's subjective. Bonus is you get a cheaper car instead. Like the 996 did for 911s
@@jacklondon7873 You might not like it, but it's widely considered to be one of the most successful designs of a virtuoso designer.
Agreed the older ones were better. BMWs look awful now anyway, just ridiculous.
It’s the ugliest 5 series…. Went from the masculine e39 to a fat curvy soft look
Oof that V10.
Beautiful and ruinous.
Always owned Subarus. I was looking at an Impreza P1 in the early noughties for around 11k. Should’ve but didn’t. 😮
I've got a 2008 Evo X FQ360 manual.
Dry storage, I drive around 300 miles a year 😂
I have a subaru STi 2006 i drive it 3000 miles a year on welsh mountain roads .. you are missing out my friend
Watching this while owning a subaru type r and an escort cosworth that I've had over 10 year and subaru for 4. Just got them in time thankfully 💪
great video! whats your thoughts on the long term value of the audi B8 s5 4.2l v8 manual? im hoping they wil go up haha picked one up pretty cheap 1 year ago, its a great GT car imo
Cosworth and RS are appreciating fast. Possibly the most iconic cars ever to meet a rally stage.
The guy doing this video should be saying any cosworth Sierra around £15-£20k in average condition plus get it bought as the top value ones will make them look so cheap soon you’ll wish you got one .
I bought a 88k mile hpi clear 89 Cosworth 99% bodily ok with a 8/10 interior been in storage 12 years that runs , right place right time £18k
I wouldn’t sell it for £25k and comparing the market it’s a £30k car… 😉
The 306 GTi-6 was still the one that got away for me, not that they're super expensive now but they've become collector's cars while I want to enjoy any car I own without worrying about the miles I'm putting on it.
Even though a V10 is clearly the best type of engine, I've never really wanted an E60 M5. Not even entirely sure why, reliability and looks I guess, by V10 standards the sound is meh, but it's still a V10 (and sounds way better than a Viper).
Love the Subaru 🙂 Have you considered the Subaru Forester Sti and earlier Stb/Sti? These are essentially an Impreza WRZ Sti, share the same running gear whilst being more practical and great fun to drive. They've doubled in price in recent years too!
V8 M3 every day of the week 👌
Had an e60 m5, should never of sold it, what a fkin machine & might add the most reliable car I’ve owned, can’t beat the sound of that v10❤
P1 here too, 2010 circa £13k I think
What’s everyone’s advice on a juke Nismo RS with recaros. I keep thinking about trading it in but didn’t know if in 10 years it could be a car that is rare and the value goes up?
ULEZ is not helping with some of these
ULEZ, is not helping
Missed out on a subaru impreza prodrive blue with gold wheels for 5k because of insurance. Saw it a week or so later in a garage for 10k 😢. Was close to getting a nissan sunny gtr for 7k aswell same reason insurance. Oh well had some good cars with my last car being my fave m135i. My current car i really like the v6 mk 2 audi tt. Had a normal subaru impreaza a audi s3. Pug 206 gti granturmiso edition gonna see how much they are worth now i sold mine for 760 quid 😂. Had 306 gti a rover tomcat. Fiesta si. Fiesta st bmw 325i.
Evo prices atm are way down unless its tommy mak edition outside of that worth no where near 60k u can get then for 20-30k
RS Focus never got below $50k in Aus
The E60 M5 isn’t “overlooked”.
It has always been saddled with a well-known reputation to throw five-figure repair bills at owners whilst in between guzzling petrol as it were free!
There just aren’t enough private individuals (i.e. not company purchases) with either deep enough pockets, brave enough or foolhardy enough who are willing to take the risk with their own personal money.
Where there is no premium demand on a model (like this) its value will remain in the doldrums for a very long time.
What will then happen is many will be totally neglected and fall into the hands of those who either can’t or chose not to maintain them. These cars will then become virtually disposable commodities i.e. people will “take a punt on a cheap one” and if it breaks just scrap it for parts. It’s happening already!
In time, this will leave a very small number of very low mileage, cherished examples that have been squirrelled away by enthusiasts. In more time - usually at least 15-20 years (although I think it maybe even longer for the E60 M5 because of its problems) - these few remaining ‘good cars’ will eventually start commanding some money.
I have owned and driven BMWs for over 42 years now. I have seen this cycle repeated over and over in that time with so many models. The various iterations of the M5 are actually the perfect example for this cycle. However, no M5 has possibly made a stronger argument against its ownership than the E60 M5.
500 bhp sounds great on the positive side….but realistically and to ‘realists’ it is fantasyland for 99% of the time on a public road. It’s barely useable and when it comes at that daily cost and risk, even the deepest of dreamers tend to wake up! 😂
Previous M5s could present more cogent arguments for themselves. Their ‘real world’ useable performance advantage over the next best model in the range was realistic and could be used…although the E39 M5 was probably also beyond most people’s limits…and they didn’t come with such huge risk.
In short, I think the only chance of E60 M5 values really taking off is that the journey for most of them to the great scrapyard in the sky may be very much sooner than previous M5 models. Then the remaining good ones might have a chance.
I think a combination in the UK of it being SMG only and 70mph speed limits kind of make it a bit pointless really. I am sure it could handle some track use but the bills would be astronomical.
What about the Golf 5 GTI. That was cheap to buy and if you now have in mint condition it definitely went up in value.
I've got one a low miler too all original. Dsg gearbox ruined a bearing at 50k miles but otherwise, easy on the wallet. Super fun car and quiet fast as it's a torquey motor. I'd say holding value very well. Too many GTi in new Zealand nearly all mk5 are a GTi. But in 15yrs yes probably be worth a bit especially in the UK.
I love your videos, but are you really saying a £20k used car is 'cheap'; your words not mine :D
He means cheap in the *global* grand scheme of things,
Some cars majority supercars can cost and be valued over a million+ but who's buying it is the million dolla question 😂
@@omari089 bascially means cheap to well off people. cheap is not a word id be using anywhere near 20k
How about a list of classic cars for under £5k?
He missed the best one, the w204 C63 proper 6.2V8 motor 💪
Had a Honda NSX-R for 2 years sold it back in 2002 for £36k ! What the fuck was I thinking 🤔
Should have bought a Supra when they were £15k
Why people buy impreza wrx sti still baffles me. They are great cars, but they have been thrashed, upgraded tuned and been through absolute he'll for years. Means you will need at least 2 infinity deep pockets to maintain them. Also, find new gearbox parts, I dare you.
agree apart from m5
Rs mk2 😍
No Audi's ?
The thinking persons choice !
Indeed, TT, RS3, RS4, RS5, RS6 etc
What are you talking about? None of these was cheap. Ever.
Integra was 5k few years ago
The RS Focus Mk2 should not have been 4 w/d. That comment is nearly always said by someone that's never driven one! 2 w/d is what makes it fun, it doesn't need anymore grip, it copes just fine, even with over 400 hp. If it was 4WD i wouldn't by one as it would dull it down.
It’s too late for these with the possible exception of a ropey Impreza
Anything non importable to the states is a guaranteed example appreciation
For example a mint dc5 is about half the price of a mint dc2
Cheap my arse 🤣 and BMWs really arent head turners, they're bloody everywhere 😂
Tommi makinen?😂
Always sounds like he's reading someone else's review
Usually like this channel but this is terrible - these aren’t cars that are appreciating they have all gone for crazy money already ! I hoped for his take on what might do the same in future
I’d love to get a couple of Aristo twin turbos before everyone finds out about it. A black one to modify to my heart’s content, and a white one to keep stock
135i coupé in the last 4/5 years they've nearly doubled, you could pick them up for 4/5k now it's more like 8k min
They will really get expensive coz they are grunty and small so very usable on B roads.
