In this excerpt from Gary Caldwell's second exclusive coaching course for CV Academy, the former Wigan Athletic manager introduces a practice that he has developed to build players' understanding of defensive principles.
We then see the practice in action, as he coaches pairs of defenders to work together so that one presses the ball while the other covers. Finally, he revisits the ideas behind the practice and why it is useful for improving all players' defensive awareness.
