Which one of these would you take the keys to as your daily driver?
Here in the SE USA, the Envista is hard to find and a poor value. Dealers are marking them up over MSRP. It is in Mazda CX-30 territory. By contrast, they offer significant discounts on the Encore GX and you can actually get one of those cheaper than an Envista. Plus, I think the Encore GX 1.3L is a better engine -- it has a timing chain (vs belt on the 1.2L) and is a Ward's top 10 best engines. As for the Trax, they are easier to come by and can even get some discount off MSRP.
I own an Envista and I am really happy with it. I live in northern Ohio and have had zero issues with not having a wiper. Actually, at high speeds the water on the back window blows off and the window is dry. I had a 2020 Rav4 before this and do not miss it at all. Great car for the money.
I live in north east Ohio and am looking at envista’s. Which dealership did you have luck with?
Joyce Buick in Avon @@macyoder772
Me to I happy me too
What about the snow?
Turn your defrost on. Melts and blows off as water. Has not been a issue after scraping snow off, just like a normal car.@@MikeJusino-mq3vj
Envista all the way.
For about 1400 you get so much more. Its also longer then the trax. More features and market value holds better.
Thanks for the review, i do enjoy your shows.
The Envista looks like a $60k luxury car.
Ordered the 24 Envista Avenir black on black. Looks amazing.
you got a a loan?
I own this identical Envista. LOVE IT! Rear wiper not an issue.
Nice!
Trax, i too want that rear wiper.
Both look amazing 🎉 I just got the Trax Friday and I’m enjoying it more than I imagined ❤ Mine is all black and so pretty 🤩
Congrats!
As always informative congenial and lovely location
Gonna be test driving the Envista this weekend. thank you for the info
Let us know how it goes!
Nice review, really! Have you seen a difference between the two vehicles in term of ride and NVH?
Greetings from bronte village area of oakville you are both back to road testing I did enjoy the previous video of the 2025 chevy equinox thanks for the presentation
Thank you for the support, Stephen!
2:18 on for a bit. Yeah it really is true what she says and these two vehicles, and being what do you want it to say about you. I loved that. And for me I like both. I'd go Buick Envista in Avenir trim to get all the goodies. Just wish it had a rear wiper. I like the variety of colors on the Trax though and that yellow WOW!!
The Envista needs more interior features like rear AC vents and the 1.3L turbo as an optional top level engine, which of course would make it more expensive but its a Buick. The Trax to me is a much better value.
I have a hatchback and the rear wiper is ok for the snow but I seldom use it in the rain but the rear wiper blade gets replaced every spring after a winter because it splits because my Mazda GS 3 sits outside all year long greetings from oakville
Excellent video guys... U.S. dollars are even cheaper on these great models. I want one, don't know which one yet.
Thanks for all you do!
Buick Envista❤
Envista is nice, but 29K starting price in Canada is high the Trax LS is 24K with the same engine and transmission......
10:17 Lane change alert and Blind Spot Monitoring are two different safety features. BSM is not standard. It comes with Driver Confidence Package
One correction--the 2RS has 19" wheels
I owned a 2015 Trax purchased brand new. I was so glad to get rid of it. So many engine issues. I got rid of it last year 23, it had a little over 60,000 miles. I live in Texas.
Good review thanks!
Thank you!!!
Nice to see affordable cars being reviewed. GM has done a good job on both esthetically. My only concern is the motor, GM has never been good at small displacement turbo motors. The Chevy Cruze 1.4T was horrible.
Im going with the trax great video
It's great to provide a budget ride with all sorts of gadgets. My concern is whether the gadgets will still be working the day after the warranty expires. My 2003 Corolla still has all its gadgets working
I am not certain about the longevity of a 3-cylinder turbo engine. The Chevy Trax is much nicer looking over the Buick.
that intro pun is an instant subscribe from me
Woohoo! Thanks so much! We’re glad you’re here.
Great video!
Thank you!
The cargo space difference is above the top of the back seat which is only useful if you are willing to block out the back window with your packages..
Is this a brand new engine for GM or one that has been around awhile?
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
very interesting video!
Thank you, Sean!
I need to tow often so I bought the Envista Avenir.
Both nice looking cars. Great value. Wish the HP was a bit more
Good review. I live in Michigan and my only concern is they both do not come in AWD.
Thanks for the kind words!
I purchased a Buick Verano, new, in 2013 & would like to trade for a new sub-compact SUV. I was initially excited about the Trax up until hearing about the Envista! One concern I had on both vehicles was the somewhat underpowered powertrain. I would love to test drive the Buick, but my local dealer never has one in stock! It seems to be a very popular vehicle here. I'm in Southern California. I'm thinking I might just put in an order for a 2025 model, when that option opens up later in the year. By then hopefully I would have been able to test drive the Envista Avenir. Also, it might be a good idea not to buy the first model year. Thanks for the great video and content.
Thanks for the kind words! Let us know when you get your Envista :)
Will do. I'll also be taking a look at the 2025 Acura CDX, once it's released!
GTI S trim is far better & cheaper.
@@katiecannon8186😮🤗 I drive a GTI ❤
I had the same powertrain concerns with a 1.2l 3 cylinder, I currently have a jeep Cherokee with the 6 cylinder. Went to test drive the Envista last week, my wife will be taking delivery of an Avenir this thursday. It is definitely not a race car, but is capable and feels kind of peppy, it will definitely meet her needs. The style, luxury appearance and standard inclusions for the price can't be beat.
I love both, but I like the Chevy Trax Looks better, so I plan to buy one later this year.
I have a 2021 Trax which has AWD, 4 cylinders, Port Injection, an actual gas cap, and no annoying Engine Stop/Start feature. I think new cars are moving in the wrong direction.
Port injection is great, most people don’t know what it is. Start-stop is annoying.
I don’t see how the measurement cargo area can be counted all the way to the ceiling. Nobody should load the cargo area that high. First of all your rear vision is eliminated and anything back there becomes a projectile in the event of hard braking.
Trax but restyle those fugly taillights and add the power liftgate to the Activ trim.
The lower trim models of the Trax has the vastly superior manual climate controls.
The biggest problem for both vehicles is that Mazda exist. Where you can get an CX-30 for not much more with features that will warrant the slightly higher price tag. Like standard AWD.
I mean just get snow tires? This isn’t a land cruise I don’t think majority of buyers actually need awd.
@@dontdoxmebroThe standard AWD is a huge deal for most. I didn't even mention the bigger difference which would be the engine. I would feel far safer with a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine pushing out 191HP compared to a 1.2L 3 cylinder that has a turbo slapped on out. That setup is guaranteed to have issues in a shorter period of time.
The Buick looks a little more... I don't know... sexier? (for lack of better word) Looks more like a luxury car. Both look pretty good though. I'd lean toward the Buick, despite the higher price tag.
I think it’s the model that looks the best in the Buick roster and just might take them out of the slow lane.

Trax 2RS team here!
You can get 19s on a Trax as well. I have a 2RS comes with 19s on the Trax
Where is the IIHS crash test rating? Kona received their highest rating.
Trax wins over Envista for price, cargo and that's about it. If you want soft touch armrest and rear seating cupholders then buy the Envista........
Different rear suspension available in the Buick as well.
The 2RS has 19 inch wheels
Not for me but thanks. Do a Mazda 3
Both nice looking but the 3 banger is a deal breaker
That's kind of the way I feel.
Nobody who keeps a vehicle a long time is going to want dual climate controls.
General Motors misses one thing into all their vehicles, they do not add reliability!!!
My 2013 Buick Verano is still going strong. Had no problems at all!
Good car
The back wiper argument is silly. The Buick is styled as a sedan with a raked backlite. Sedans don’t have rear wipers.
Trax
Does this low hanging vehicles from GM comes with the same disastrous engine as the Chevy Cruze 🤦🏻♂️
Why would anyone buy this rather than a Toyota Corolla Cross?
Those 1.4 L Turbo 4 cylinder were not good, but that was 2011 to 2015 GM has figured things out since then.......
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8if what you said is true, why can’t GM be the top seller of this line for the last few years yet the Toyotas and Mazda taking top spots. Let’s not kid ourselves…the entry level from GM that was actually reliable were the Cavaliers and Sunbirds from late 80s. Yes Sunbird not Sunfire!!!
Personally, I have had a few GM products with no reliability issues, and to me the GM interiors just look so much better than Toyota. Styling is subjective, but I really dislike Toyota interior designs.
@@MikeD1101aI agree that we have had few GM vehicles from late 70s, 80s and 90s….these were the amazing eras but anything GM made last two decades are disastrous unless you are talking about Suburban, Yukon or any of the 100K price points.
@@Thankyou_3 GM trucks and commercial vans sell well, it's GM smaller vehicles that don't sell like Civic, Corolla. But this new 2024 0Trax/Envista is selling like hot cakes GM is heading in the right direction in years..........
The envista is so slow??? Lol it’s not a sports car come on.
I have a Vista car and it hauls my turbo
Two underpowered SUV's 😖
How much power should subcompact crossovers have?
The reviewers should delve into the engine a bit more and talk about the timing belt in oil design. That design has a major draw back: The timing belt will not last long and to change the timing belt, you'd have to take apart a good chunk of the engine. For budget conscious buyers who tend to keep their cars longer than 10 years, this is going to be a big draw back. In that price range, you can get a much more reliable car from Toyota, Subaru and even Honda.
Nobody is keeping one of these for 10 years…
Neither. That 1300cc turbo is a no go for me and doubt it will last more than 5 years.
the 1.2L LIH has already been around for 5 years and seems to be quite reliable.
i bought bmw x6 2020 and their m50 engine didnt even last me a year without having it to replace it! and my dads 30 year old nissan with 1.3 engine lasted for 30 years!
Buick Encore and Envista made in Korea. BUICK ENVISION MADE IN CHINA!!! Chevy Trailblazer and Trax made in Korea.
UAW got what they wanted during High Inflation
Enjoy!
Both are "affordable" but won't last, that affordability will go down the toilet once the mechanical bill$ pop up. GM stands for "garbage motors" always has and will never change.
Rear wipers are for WIMPS! Use your side mirrors - they're there for a reason - to look backwards!
Engine. Garbage
