They've always been a big part of the farm, but never have we spent much time exploring what makes them tick.
Hardworking, economical scratchers are just few ways we describe them.

In the past, people have laughed at me when I have told that keeping chickens can be very therapeutic, especially for people with stressful and high pressure jobs. But it's true. Build or buy a chicken coop, get some chickens and when life gets a bit too much for you, grab something to sit on and go sit in the coop and watch the chickens. Believe me, you will become so engrossed with the chickens and what they are doing, you can easily lose 2-3-4 hours of your life and not even notice it.
Love your attitude to your chicken same here I do really enjoy them they have character some are friendly some not but that’s ok they lay beautiful tasty eggs. I have gees too.

“Chill with the chickens!” I chill with my chickens every morning with a cup of coffee, and every evening with a glass of wine!

I raised chickens on our farm for a few years when I was a boy. Usually had around 125 white Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds and New Hampshire Reds. Raised primarily for butchering. We lived in town and our farm was 7 miles away. This venture was going well until over a two night span minks got into the hen house and wiped out two thirds of my flock. I got out of the chicken business after that. But I had fun doing it for as long as I did. Got into raising market hogs after that.

Got a few Greedy Peckers over here lol. Mine liked pumpkin. I make what we call pig mash, boiled potato skins, black treacle and oats all mixed up, they love it so do rabbits, kids, birds, children, donkeys ,pigs. Lol.
A beautiful sight indeed. PARADISE for the hens and they must be litttle treasures to be around.

For a number of years we lived in Venice, California, on a small residential property off a major street. We had 3 chickens for most of that time. What a wonderful bunch of memories we have of those chickens. They would come to the back door when we came out, knowing it was feeding time, and would sit in our laps for a little cuddle. Just lovely. Thank you for the chicken video!

These farming videos are absolutely brilliant and the Lady is so knowledgeable. Reminds me so much of my up-bringing on my Dad's farm where I used to work from the age of 9 during my school holidays!
Just watched the chicken episode and then ALL the others again! I’m just entering my 13th week of lockdown and find the series so relaxing. Rufus, you always sound so calm - great video voice! And Mum, so interesting and knowledgeable. All power to Mum, Rufus and “Flank”.

Mister Reynolds.... Here in Germany old folks call the fox "Reinecke".... And he is the reason why we can't have chickens at our new place. Because in this area of Hamburg there are plenty of foxes and racoons

@@flankfarm hey there..... It is basically the same like Reynolds... A common old fashioned name partly from Aesob's tales where the name of a cunning fox is Reynke de vos

Mr Reynolds, may be from 'Reynard the Fox'. The stories of Reynard were so popular in France that Reynard became the French name for a fox.

Mine are all farmyard mutts now. Weird mixtures of Australorp, Buff Orpingtons, Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red and ISA Brown. I hatch once a year and replace about 1/3 of my layers each year. There's nothing like real eggs

Hens yes they are wonderful I used to keep them. I had my own chicks hacket a few times. I'm refenching at the moment so as soon as the covid19 is over I will be starting again.
