    Good review and demo, cheers. I will be buying and trying for my suffolk punch. The shop wanted £100 for sharpening, it's a lot when you should probably be doing it every year (and the mower is old and not worth much). Thanks again

    Terrific review, especially for your first time. Consider adding subtitles for the entire video for those who don't speak English as their first language. Your diction and pace of speaking is perfect for us to understand despite your accent. Adding a before and after view of grass that has been cut and your opinion of the performance would turn this very good review into an excellent one. You're leading the charge for all of us who prefer to DIY.

      @Milnero  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you for the like and sub,
      I found lots of none OEM bottom blades for sale on ebay for most mowers extremely cheap and well made, you could always put the bottom blade into a vice and use file just have to make sure you get the angle right.
      I tried backlapping using a product called Chemico it certainly worked to sharpen the top and bottom blade but was very messy which is my only complaint, if you do give backlapping ago be careful I snapped one of the cogs and had to order a replacement part.

    I think you did a fantastic job presenting the product explaining it and showing how to attach it and then the text that came up through it but you did it for about 5 minutes then you lowered it and perhaps it could have been a little bit shorter and more condensed getting to the point of attaching it to the more I was sort of saying myself to the video come on put the thing on already but other than that I think you did a fantastic job the only other thing I would say is if there was an opportunity to take the more out and actually cut some lawn with it to show whether your statement of you expect to get a really good cut with it came true could have possibly been added and just sort of time lapsed you probably would have only taken you a couple of minutes more and would have been worth seeing but overall I still got to say you did an absolutely fantastic job in presenting the product and the description and the purpose and the method

    • @Milnero
      @Milnero  Před rokem +1

      You add the sharpener to the lower bed knife and whichever direction your blades spin when you push the mower will sharpen the blades with the tool attached.
      Usually the bed knife has only one fixed position as you adjust the height of the cutting reel instead. Hope that helps and thank you for watching the video.

    • @Milnero
      @Milnero  Před 3 lety

      If by trailing edge you're referring to the bed knife, this sharpener will not sharpen that part of the mower and is only suitable for sharpening the reel, I would remove the bed knife and hand file it.

    • @Milnero
      @Milnero  Před 2 lety +1

      Not needed with this method. As the blades spin in the direction of the cut the blades make contact with the sharpener, it works well.

    • @Frz45
      @Frz45 Před 2 lety +2

      @@Milnero It is indeed needed with any method, you would see far better results by spinning in reverse. Going forward is an easy way to remove imperfections to the cutting edge, but to create a proper cutting edge, reverse is the only way to do it. Grinding lathes would run the reel forward otherwise. Total waste of money. Cylinder grinding is a hard aggressive process, a bit of sandpaper isn’t going to touch it. Also the bottom blade is critical to the process, as far as I can see this doesn’t do anything to the bottom blade. Money far better spent getting someone to do it properly, well if you want to get your machine working the best it can do at any rate
