How else would you have found that out! John thanks again for sharing your knowledge; I have my front suspension end out for refurbishment and I hadn't even thought that may be an issue for the refit of the rack. Your insight with the washers will no doubt save no end of frustration when I come to refit the rack. Thanks again.

How`d you manage on your own? I`m in similar situation & need to pull rack & pinion from my `76 parts car for my `78 daily driver that I cannot retrieve the plunger from to top-up the oil. Plunger comes out nice from parts car no prob at all. Also have a `75 titled project car, all 3 mgb roadsters. Such a blast & economical vs my V8 4x4
