4 sport climbing crags for beginners near Kristiansand in Norway

Kristiansand is granite and gneiss and offers a lot of varied climbing - from slab to face and overhangs!
First of all, Queens near the suburb of Sødal is a great sport climbing crag if you are a beginner rock climber. Here there are plenty of short routes at French grade 4, 5 and 6. I’ve done a separate sport climbing video about Queens on how to find the sport climbing crag, so it might be worthwile checking that out.
The second beginner sport climbing crag in Kristiansand is Odderøya in the near proximity of downtown Kristiansand. Odderøya is actually situated on a small island, which makes a quite spectacular beginner rock climbing spot in Norway. Here you will find a lot of great slab climbing, but there are also some more difficult face and overhanging climbs too.
The third beginner friendly rock climbing crag in Kristiansand is Storheia. This crag offers several sectors with the Pine Wall being the main sector. Here you will find several longer sport climbing routes up to 30 meters! And Storheia is also where you will find the Dolphin Wall sector with the famous rock feature that the Norwegians apparently believe looks like a gigantic dolphin’s mouth!
Finally, if you go further north of Kristiansand, you will Birkeland. This is a tiny crag inside a forest with some very interesting overhanging routes. Most climbs here are from French grade 6a and up! But don’t let yourself down on this, if you do not climb grade 6, the routes are very well protected, so you can just go do some projecting!
