@@samuelbrozek5618 I would rather gaff it in a **non fatal ** , least harming location (lower lip) so to bring it on deck and remove the hooks rather than try to hand line a 30lb fish or try to net a big fish and possibly lose it with a big metal jig in it's mouth and another leader hanging out.

An ice fishin reel trick is to zip tie the reel to the rod. Try that if you are having problems with the reel slots/keepers.

By the way, you can also stick like 40 pound mono or just some heavy line through it’s spinal cord and it will kill the nerves making the fish taste and smell better
