How does this not have a million views? Best tutorial/voiceover/filming I’ve seen for a skillet pizza. Wonderfully done, sir! I’m definitely trying yours!
Thanks 😊
Right!! I was thinking the same thing!
@@TheHighVibrationStation you gotta share is you really care
Probably the video is not as good as you think it is.
@@lepauvrehomme Probably (Perhaps) , keep your opinions in your own comments as I see you have. I’ve watched hundreds of videos on this method, and I happen to think he mastered it. Everyone has their own way, which you obviously do as well. Good for you, do it. If you think your , or someone else’s way is better...why are you watching? I watch to learn, and he won me over with his way. So, “probably” this video is as good as I thought/think /know it is. Thanks!
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? As a guy who has loved pizza most of my life, this homemade cast iron skillet pizza looks amazing. I’m a pizza fanatic and I’ve watched many homemade pizza videos but this one is the best. Great narration, simple instructions, and that pizza looks delicious. From one pizza lover to another, excellent work! I’ll definitely be trying this recipe.
Hey man thanks.... It was fun to make, fun to eat and fun to talk about it. Try it out.
This is my go-to recipe. Just made two more. Thank you!

And that pizza looks F-ing good! I have done one in a cast-iron but I only use store-bought dough. Came out really good, but I really want to try my own dough. I’ll check back in and let you know how it came out.

@@DavidGriffin I just made it in electric skillet. Really appreciate the cornmeal/fixings in the bottom. I flipped it, dabbed on the sauce and stuffs. even tossed on some cooked sassage from earlier. Next time I'll Pre-warm the sauce for faster cheese melting. Electric skillet! We make due. -- SURE! tomorrow, i'm full. lol TYVMz!
Looks darn tasty!😋 😍
That pizza looks great! I will definitely try this. Phil
How was it?
My mouth is watering, im making this today!
Aye thanks! Hit that subscribe button... More to come!!!
Hey man! Amazing video, loved every second of it.
Just a quick question regarding making more than 1 pizza on the same pan. If the cast iron pan was slightly warm after making the first pizza, do I have to wait until it cools down to make a second or is it cool to just start making the second one on it immediately?
If you don't let it cool... Then you won't be able to put the fresh dough in and work. I have two pans
I see. Thank you very much for the prompt response, boss!
Followed your recipe, made this last night. The pizza turned out...
Delicious!! Thanks for sharing. My crust got a little black in the center, but that is my fault. Gonna make it again Saturday. Thanks again.
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿 = check this out ... Make my seasoned fries and the pizza the same day. You will not be the same after that
Try the other way around. Put it in the oven first for 20-25 mins and then, if needed after a quick look at the base, put on the hob on a high heat for 30-60 seconds to crisp up.
6:13 one tweak i'd go for is putting your pizza off to one side of the oven so that more of the coil is right above it, ive done this a few times for pizzas with more ingredients
Yummy looks so delicious
Man... It's was!
Great video! Going to try this. Was wondering what I can substitute the corn meal with?
That's a tough one... I don't know. The corn meal helps lift it out the pan.
Bread crumbs
Hey man, this has to be one of my favorite food tutorial videos. Your voice over and humor were so cool. Hope you keep going. Thanks for this!
Maybe I will... Got lots of things I cook... Brisket, grilled chicken beef pork steak, tacos... And some more stuff.
Excellent video😄

Absolutely beautiful pizza.

Thanks bro
David Griffin you really do this cooking ish bro
I don’t do a dough lip, I run my provolone slices up against the pan and it makes a nice crunchy cheese crust.
Genius... Pure genius
A man of culture.
This needs way more views
Thank you for watching. Shares on Facebook help a lot.
HELLLLLS YEAH
I love this video and can't wait to try it in my cast iron skillet! BUT I need a written recipe to follow as a 70 year old as I can't keep up with the video! 😵💫😫😘Do you have it somewhere here?
God damn this is the best way to do pizza at home. I have never had homemade pizza that was even close to being as good as restaurant pizza. But this one is great. Thank you. 5 ⭐️
Wow man... Thanks
Nice video brotha
Reminds me of that Morris Day skit. Lol 😂 nice man!
Lol lol lol lol... Check out my friend chicken video... You'll laugh at that then
Im so hungry now!
love your intro ❤
Oh my GOODNESS!!!
Thanks for watching! Make sure your subscribe... I'm working on some really entertaining cooking videos!
You've made me hungry
:-)
Damn.... That looks delicious... What was the prep time?
Prep time was 5 minutes to make the batch of dough... Which makes 2 big pizzas. Let it rest for 2 hours. Then spinning it out into the pan was 3 minutes or less (you don't have to knead it like I did). Then stove top was 5-7 minutes... Oven bake time was 3 minutes. So start at 3pm you'll have one ready at 5:30.
I'm making this SOON! PEACE from ATL 📸✊🏾
Kill it!!!

Quick question.
Did you divide the dough into 4 parts or 2?
I saw you cut the dough in half, then you cut that half once more and placed one piece in the greased bowl.
Did you use the remaining 3 pieces to make the pizza?
I split it in half... It makes it thick crust like that. However one could split that dough into 3 and make three pizzas.
This is a great idea, but I really don't like a doughy crust. Would it work well if I used 1/4 of the dough and spread it out to make a thin crust?
Yes. I've done it. That dough formula is ironclad great when made thin... Just make sure you go slow with the stove top to get it where you want.
I’m gonna try this one! New sub here, HI!
Thanks so much!!! Check out my chicken nugget video and cast iron
That's beautiful!!!
Thank you! 😊
Cast iron will work miracles. Even bring a 3 day old pizza back to life. We were doing a bon fire and we brought out the cast iron skillet and some leftover pizza and with a little oil and alot of heat it made that crust crahounchee.
THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜
Which mode did u put the microwave in for the pizza
Hahaha... I put it in Stovetop/Broiler Oven Mode. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for watching! Please subscribe!
Making this tonight, but do you know roughly how long the stovetop process takes?
It varies. You go slow and constantly check the bottom. The more times you do it the better you get at it. I keep the fire on medium and go by smell and check it and constantly rotate it
I would just like to mention, and this is just me personally, I like to preheat my skillet then add the dough and top it instead of using the stove burners, and make sure all the toppings buried in cheese and not seen🤣🤣
Aye that works too!!!!
Nice, but I would put butter cheese around that crust! Like Hungry Howies. But looks good!
I never had that!!!! Thanks for watching!
What size is the skillet? It looks like that is enough dough for 2 pizzas, is that correct?
12.5 in yes... It can make two pizzas
@@DavidGriffin David, thank you so much for the quick reply. One more question, please. Do you measure your flour by volume or weight?
Don't forget the red pepper flakes!
I didn't on the third slice! Thanks for watching!
Sauce and cheese to the edges gives you that burnt, "best part" of a pan pizza.
Will regular flour work? Or it has to be bread flour?
Regular All purpose flour will work just fine. I use it all the time cause I run out of bread flour quick. Go for it. You can cheat and add a baby pinch of baking soda to ap Flour if you don't like the way it rises. But it rises just fine for me.
Awesome thanks!!!
@@christinaoshaughnessy1974 no prob
Was the oven on broil?
Yes. 550° on most ovens is broil
You need to open your own restaurant sir! I'm serious man! I'm learning something new everytime I watch your videos!
Thanks... After the Rona Cure drops... I'll start thinking about that.
What size is the pan?
12.5 in
@@DavidGriffin Thanks 😊
Hi! The pizza is very good but the pizza is sticking to my cast iron. You also didn't preheat the cast iron. I just greased my cast iron thoroughly. Can someone help me?
I never preheat my pan. I rely on oil and the cornmeal to keep it from sticking. It's never failed. Try Adding a little more cornmeal and oil to the pan.
@@DavidGriffin I added cornstarch instead. Will it still work?
That's cornmeal, hands down. The main reason you sprinkle cornmeal or flour onto the bottom of your pizza tray or pizza stone is so that it will stick to the bottom of the pizza dough. This way when it cooks it won't stick to the pan.
Also people use semolina flour. But never cornstarch
Sold 😂
THAT.... is livin large
So do use the broiler or the normal oven
I use the regular oven on the broil setting. All that matters is getting the oven HELL level hot.
Ok thanks man
Cutting in your cast iron 😱😱😱
It lived
So this recipe makes 4 - 12 in pizzas?
2 12 in pizzas
Okay everyone.. somebody help me..in this video the heating element is on the top of the oven and my gas oven heats from the bottom..any suggestions?
Trying this out for the guys at deer camp, and they're extremely fussy..lol
Thanks in advance
Here's your deal... Do your job when it's on the stove top to get the crust the way you want... Meanwhile heat the oven to 550° or hotter. It won't matter from where the heat is coming from because an enclosed oven will create hot swirling air. Just ensure your oven is a nuclear fire level hot before you put the pizza inside.
@@DavidGriffin thanks man👍
@@DavidGriffin one more question: what qualifies as a "warm place" when you're waiting for the dough to rise?
Hey put some pepperoni on that pizza already!
ahahahhaahahhahaha sex with a pizza. that's my boy! :D Adam Ragusea's similar video is cool to watch, but when it comes to real life preparation it's inconsistent. He says 7-8 min in "his" stove top, but mine was burned after 5. :D Thanks for this step-by-step chilling guide. Will be trying again until I find the sweet spots. :D
Hahaha ... Glad I could be of service man!
Loved it until you put it into the oven. I dont have a oven. So I am going to use a lid to cook the top also.
Understandable. The oven is too cook the top. Half of the dough thoroughly. I suppose the top can get cooked with a top...albeit the moisture trapped under the top won't allow a crisp top edge
No way you get crust on the bottom in a cast iron + oven + in just "2 to 4 minutes". For this you need to pre-heat the skillet first. This however, changes the whole explanation. Therefore, don't be disappointed if you repeat the steps and you don't get the result.
The crust develops while it's on top the stove. The topping when in the oven. The oven section is 2 to 4 minutes. Not the entire process
When the oven is 500° it only takes about 8 minutes more or less to completely cook a pizza. Usually the cheese cooks quicker so you slide the dough and the sauce only into the oven for about 4 min. Then bring it out to put on the toppings and cheese. Back in for about 4 more min. It is easy to slide pizza dough onto a pizza stone or a cast iron stone. But he is working out of a cast iron pan. So he needs to adjust. You cant just heat up a cast iron pan to hot as hell and slide that dough onto it perfectly. That is why he is heating it up first over the oven top for a few minutes. It will still equal out at the end.
🥹🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Yeah bro ... It was
I don’t like your recipe for the sauce and “topping”, but you handled the dough really well
Hey... Well 50% may be a hard F... But it tasted good. 😂 Thanks for watching.
@@DavidGriffin it’s not even your sauce but from the jar, so it’s not even your fault. I’m sure it tasted good, but I do like the fact that you didn’t overload the pot with toppings, and let the outer crust raise. It looks good!
Kids don t eat the end of the pizza🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Don't cut into your cast iron dude. Treat that thing like a member of the family.
Sesame seeds instead of cornbread much better
