  • I loved making this sweater and this video is a record of my month-long struggle with making it! this is my first time ever attempting colorwork and while I absolutely hated it, I love the result.
    This pattern is the Pippi Pullover by Kiss Kiss Rhinestones (aka Lea), who was kind enough to make the whole thing FREE!
    www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...
    I made a few adjustments including shortening the length of the sweater by reducing rounds I made in the white color and making two decreases every eight rows on the sleeves. The materials I used in the video include:
    - Needles -- Chiagoo 4.0mm knitting needles
    - Yarn -- 12 balls of Drops Alaska in Wheat and 2 balls each of Drops Alaska in Dark Red and Midnight Blue
    - Random stitch markers from Amazon lol
    NOTE: please gauge if you're going to make this sweater--I almost made this 2x too big if I had just gone in with 5.0mm needles like in the pattern.

    Fun fact this sweater is based on a swedish story called Pippi Långstrump or Pippi Longstocking and its by Astrid Lindgren. As a swedish person i grew up watching the tv series and movies so it gives nostalgia. I also think i owned one of these sweaters as a kid :>

      oh that's so cool! I used to watch the american cartoon version when I was a kid so this was such a throwback!

      In Spanish it was translated as "Pippi Calzaslargas" but I definitely knew her swedish name since it was kept in the song 🥰

    Had several of these sweaters growing up. Pippi from Astrid Lindgren inspired a whole generation in Sweden. So this is a classic sweater and was made before any social media were born. So fun to see it make a new viral appearance🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪

    Hii i'm so excited to finally find a video about this pattern as i've started this sweater and i'm stuck at the german short rows step (Work German short rows for 10 rows, each time working 5 sts past your previous turn. That is 5 turns on each side of the back yoke. End on a WS row. You’ve shaped the back!). How do i work 5 sts past the previous turn if i'm supposed to do the "double stitch" before turning the work?? and if i have to do it every 5 sts before, i don't have enough stitches (this 10 rows are only in 40 sts) to do so in 10 rows:( i would really appreciate the help

    • @tubbysworld
      @tubbysworld  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I think I was also not able to make the full 10 rows--I might have ended at 8 or so because I had the same problem :(

  • @dzi1229

    hello, im really excited to finally make this sweater but i got confused at the german short rows thingy lmao. At the beginning, the stiches got divided into 3 parts, 35-40-35 right? and this step (Work German short rows for 10 rows, each time working 5 sts past your previous turn. That is 5 turns on each side of the back yoke. End on a WS row. You’ve shaped the back!) is only being worked in 40 sts. So is the next step, 4 rows of stockinette will be worked on all parts (35-40-35) instead of 40 only?? Please help mee🫠🫠

    • @HetalBarai-zu2hx
      @HetalBarai-zu2hx Před 3 měsíci

      I'm also super confused about this ! I assume we only do german short rows to shorten the 40 stiches down by 5 stiches each time and then pick up all of the stichs and do stockinette on 110 stitches ?

    Can i have a question like , when im knitting the 19th row which is the last row of the colourwork section , the pattern told me to start increase for the neckhole , so what i have to do now ? ( sorry for my bad english )

    • @tubbysworld
      @tubbysworld  Před 19 dny

      It's been a while but I think I just added an extra stitch to each end every other row--not sure if someone has done this more recently!

    this is about to be my first sweater project, am I going to regret it LOL
    but its free! and I have a ton(!) of fisherman's wool! and I am ambitious

  • @XxAnnn
    @XxAnnn Před 7 měsíci

    It looks so nice, and I like the boxy fit!! I'm just starting off with the sweater. I'm not sure about the lenght though, since I want to make it a bit shorter as well. I'm afraid that 16 rows between the colorwork will make it too short for me though.. How long is the body of your sweater?

    • @tubbysworld
      @tubbysworld  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hey! I think 16 rows actually worked really well for me. Unfortunately I went home for Christmas and don't have the sweater on me, but I'm 5'2" and the sweater comes to my hip bone.

    • @tubbysworld
      @tubbysworld  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I was a bit too conservative (lazy lol) with the bottom ribbing and only did about 4-5cm, but I might go back in and stretch the rib to 8cm, which would make it a good length!
