    What a bike she is!!! I truly enjoyed this R1200R. Like mentioned in the video I didn't really expect to ride this one... But Boooyyyy am I glad I did get the chance. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of riding literbikes on public roads I have to admit that the R1200R makes quite a lot of sense out there. I really dig those boxer engines. I love how this bike has massive amounts of power but still I never felt overwhelmed by it. I'd describe both its power output as well as the overall rideability as 'very manageable'. This machine offers quite the attractive compromise between long distance comfort and sportiness. You can ride this thing for the whole day and thanks to the rather relaxed seating position your body won't mind. And as soon as you feel like putting the hammer down the semi-active suspension, quickshifter PRO, and powerful brakes will easily let you do so. I can't say anything about it's actual ground clearance though. Like mentioned I stopped leaning further down as soon as the hero blobs scraped the tarmac. The day before I got into trouble for scraping the Multistrada's pegs and panniers and since I didn't want to risk more penalty payments I contained myself lean angle wise on the R1200 R. Up to the leans and speeds you see in the video the bike behaves very well mannered though. No nasty surprises. I'm fairly confident to say that it could take quite a bit more even without losing its shape too heavily.
    Definitely try this one should you ever get the chance! And no, as you can see I was not smart enough to switch off the ABS. Is it possible to switch it off anyway?

    Great ride and great video! 😍 It's obviously a fantastic bike, and it seems to me that it fits perfectly with your riding and video-editing style, as it's nicely powerful, it sounds great, it's both stable and agile, etc. Even the too-sensitive ABS on the rear wheel contributes to the awesomeness of this video. It was really enjoyable to watch 👌

  • @badger4361

    I think the peg scraping is a good warning on this bike, plus it's good fun. Youve still got a bit to play with once the pegs go down, so no need to crap your pants. Great video! Thanks for that. ABS steps in because you use both levers at same time. So there is pressure from front brake lever and rear brake lever on rear brake caliper at same time. If you use only front brake lever, there is no problem of this kind.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  Před 4 lety +1

    Crazy Man. I have ridden a 1200R (not in this manner though) and i own a 2017 1200GS (and i have ridden it like Schaaf does in this vid) on the alpine roads in Oz. Both are amazing bikes with amazing engines & suspension. The electronic safety stuff does not come into play often (or is generally unnoticeable) because the bikes geometry & suspension is so good and also adapts on the fly.
    The R & GS cost a lot of money but you get a lot for your money.
    If i ever rode with you Schaaf, please wait at the top or bottom as i will be there some time after you get there :-)

      Schaaf. 50 years of sports bikes and now riding a 1200GS and i too have slowed down. Ironically, the GS will go faster, easier & safer than any bike i have owned before. The GS seems to promote a more cruising along style (still quite fast though as it is so effortless). I am now 'enjoying the ride' whereas before it was all about going quick. I still have moments where i up the pace but no for long & not that often. Ride safe mate and keep the vids coming.
      ps i am envious of the roads you ride on & the scenery.

    I am fortunate enough to own one of these fantastic bikes, they certainly are very quick, and yet can be very docile and forgiving, it sounds like a contradiction but the only way to find out is to ride one.

    • @Schaaf

      you just need to remove the "feelers" underneath the pegs for more lean angle reserves but I don't know if its possible to scrape the cylinders left and right.

    Whoopee!! I have so been waiting for you to ride this bike! Can you rank these in order of preference if you were riding mainly twisties with the odd bit of touring: R1200R, GS, Multistrada?
    Also, have you thought about getting some merchandise made-up for your fan base to support your addiction/our entertainment requirements? You could always ask your fans to pre-order to check commitment and then print t-shirts or whatever once you know you have the volume to make a profit. (Maybe ask Adam LZ on CZcams for some tips I'm sure he'd give you some valuable insight on where to start, what to avoid etc...he's doing pretty well with his skateboard followers).
    Looking forward to the next vid :)

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  Před 8 lety

      thanks a lot Lee! I'm still working on my stickers, regarding any merchandise plans.
      The R definitely was the best of all three for quick road riding. But still I'd take the GS or Multi for longer touring. The R has you seated quite comfortably but the other two have you seated quite a lot more comfortably actually :D But you're mentioning just a tiny bit of touring, eh? In this case I'd say it's R - Multistrada - GS

    Einige der Manöver waren aber schon eher kritisch. Vor allem wenn dann plötzlich z.B. ein Auto auch schnell ums Eck kommt. Schaaf i just get her for one and a half week, i was amazed by the "smooth power". I found the front suspension a bit heavy at slower speeds (in city traffic) but held her trajectory like a train on rails whe you speed up. The tank was big enough to go on a pretty long "balade" without thinking about a gas station half of the time. RunBike4Life tested it too and was also amazed by her smooth power and stability

      thanks mate. The Multi Enduro and this R1200R are two different bike concepts. Not fair to compare. Both were amazing fun on the road

    • @kuhndj67
      @kuhndj67 Před 7 lety +1

      I've got the MultiS and have spent a fair bit of time on the Multi Enduro. Both great bikes... choice would depend on what you want to do, and how big you are. If you're tall (say over 6'2" or so) you'll find the added living space of the Enduro very nice. If you have the money and skill to ride a big bike offroad then the Enduro is a great choice (the GSA would also be a good choice). If you're primarly a tarmac rider with some dirt roads for fun on the side... the Multi or MultiS are good choices. If you want something that can do tarmac and dirt with great competence but maybe isn't as big (as the multi) on high HP shenanigans and extreme canyon carving then you can't go wrong with the R1200... lots of great options out there these days.
