I went to a private Catholic school in the 70s and our music teacher, (who was a nun), taught us this song. I was so surprised that I still knew most of the words and could sing along! Thank you for sharing…it was a fun blast from the past!
Couple of years back I found a John Denver CD in my mom's collection I asked if I could borrow it hadn't heard some of those songs in ages shocked by my my reaction I bawled like a baby through the whole thing such a big part of my childhood I miss terribly someone I had never met
Yeah, me too, John was and still is better than the media portray him today. Yes I tear up too as I try to sing with him. I'm glad that the song loop where I work has 2 of his songs on there. Makes a better day for me.
John was a real-life Muppet, a Great actor and performer, song writer, and just an all around Great Guy! I miss him, but, remember the Fun times! Love Ya John!
John Denver and the Muppets? Yes, please! I was 15 when I heard the news about John's passing. I was pretty shocked to hear it, and I think my mother was even more shocked. She told me that she and my dad chose "Annie's Song" as their wedding song. He was a great songwriter and singer, and there will never be another like him.
John was one of the greatest singer-songwriters of our times. It's sad that so many of his finest songs are so little known. Such as "Poems, Prayers and Promises". Check it out.
Man, contrast this wholesomeness to the garbage dumpster our society has devolved into today. Thank God I'm old enough to remember this. John was the best ever ❤
Sept. 15, 1979 is when this aired on tv. I was twenty years old and remember laughing my a-s off when he sang this song. He was a man of many talents. He also saw and talked to God (George Burns)! L.O.L.
Just really warms my heart to know all the lives that John touched with his music!! I cry tears of happiness cause he really was a great man that I wish was here today!! I definitely know that our family reunions would be LIT cause John would be there!! He is a cousin of mine & he definitely was a BIG part of my childhood!! Love & miss you so much John!!
My sister and I remember seeing this! So cozy, cute and funny. We both liked John Denver, but I believe my sister had a real crush on him. We felt so bad at his passing, but I like to imagine he's singing with the angels.
My dad met John Denver at a hockey game in Colorado in the 70s, he didn't know it was him at first, until his friend said: "that is John Denver. My dad shook his hand and talked to him. I wish i could have met him. My dad got me hooked on your music John, you will be be in our hearts forever!
Loved him. He was the best. Wonderful childhood memories listening to his songs. My now 18yr old used to listen to him as a child too. I bought him all his CD’s when he was around 5 because we only allowed him to listen to certain types of music. None of the junk music and he used to love him too.
it must have bin busy under that bed with puppetmasters . brilliant as always > john denver but also the muppets from jim . good to see again ......thanks
John always seemed like a regular guy you'd have as a neighbor. Always enjoyed the Muppets even as a teenager, especially the old me in the box seat. Lots of good memories. Jacques Cousteau I remember watching a lot on tv in the 70s, and enjoyed Johns musical contributions to Cousteau's cause and his message.
This song and episode still pops in my head from time to time. Today (New Year's Day 2021) was one of those times. So, I did a search to see if it was online. Thankfully it is! I still remember seeing it for the first time as a child. I'm 52 now. With all the heartache and struggles 2020 brought so many of us, seeing this brought a needed smile to my face while at the same time, a tear rolled down my cheek in remembrance of days long ago and the songs from that time that still fill my mind today and help take me back to happier times with loved ones who are no longer here.
Now we all know what is was like for all old timers back when we was young. We see the world now how they saw it then. The old days was better. No internet, kids transitioning, police defunding…
Loved his music. I think the best work of his was the song he recorded with Alexander Gradsky. Gradsky was the most popular singer/songwriter in Russia at the time. It is called What are We Making Weapons For - Let Us Begin. In his Christmas special in '88 he explains how it came about. It is very powerful.
i saw this when i was a kid!!! i just watched his life story on prime the other day. chad lowe plays John kristin davis plays his wife a must see for all John Denver fans!!!
@@Ojibwette I noticed, yeah! I was referring to his live concert version where he stops the music to speak about "maybe I'd reconsider about the gal down the road'. But it is here!
Omg sooo funny!!!😂🤣 And also this is like the 40th time ive watched this video and it still cracks me up its so cute and funny!!!💙 Gosh.... i wish i could have met him, probably would have broke down crying right in front of him because I was so happy to see him... if only that was possible. I've only known about John Denver for about a 2 years now and I love his personality and everything about him!!! he is awesome!!!!💙 FAROUT!!!!!😎
I wonder if that can be a maternal grandma. John Denver does not look very much like his father. It is wierd seeing the two men together in pictures. They look so different but they are so closely related. On the other hand John Denver does bear some resemblance to his mother. So if John Denver is going to go in drag and play a grandma, he would probably be better at playing his mother's mother as opposed to his father's mother. So I wonder if the grandma is maternal. I don't know what John Denver's grandparents look like in real life. Partly it is because they are obscure people, and partly because their wouldn''t be good photography back then. The only thing I know about them is that John Denver got a guitar from one of his grandmas. I don't know which one. Somehow the mother and father got together and had such a beutiful and talented son. For that I am forever greatful. John Denver is so amazing.
The chemistry between John and the muppets is legendary
Kids today are missing out on good tv like this
Simpler times. I miss our country and culture we used to have
Easily one of the best episodes. John Denver was a treasure.
John’s Christmas with the Muppets is still my favorite during the holidays.
I went to a private Catholic school in the 70s and our music teacher, (who was a nun), taught us this song. I was so surprised that I still knew most of the words and could sing along! Thank you for sharing…it was a fun blast from the past!
I love it when John comes out dressed like a Grandma!
Never understood the reason for John Denver working with the Muppets so much up until now. He's got real good chemistry with them.
He loved kids and people in general.
Best Christmas Album ever. No contest.
A treasured childhood memory . Rest in peace John Denver and Jim Henson .
My kids are making memories with it right now.

John Denver, Abba, the Irish Rovers, and Neil Diamond. Were on Moms playlist, and she chose the music for our family road trips. What memories!!!

In a world of so much ugliness, this sort of thing reminds me how beautiful things can be.
Thank you John for all the memories.

Poems, prayers and promises is one of my favourites of his! 💕

John Denver, to me, was the last great American folk singer...😔
I miss his voice, but I smile when I hear it. 😊
Amen.
The last great and the greatest EVER...a legitimate legend
One of my favourite John Denver songs. He was a terrific person and singer.👍👍👍
Ah, I remember this one back in the day. Nice touch, John playing his grandma at the end. So sad when I heard about the plane crash. RIP.

This song always makes me smile, and the 'nine feet high' description is beyond hilarious!
I wish I could have met John Denver. He seemed like a really awesome guy.
Oh yeah. Ask his ex wife

Oh God I love him he's just so cute....they don't make em like this anymore
I remember back in middle school we sang this song in music class. Some of the kids went wild over the song.
Brings me back to when I was a little kid :)
FEATHERS FLYING? Love this.
This is my favorite John Denver song because of this scene!
John Denver and The Muppets were fantastic together.
How much fun is this video!
They dont make entertainment this good anymore.
Classic song i used to love as a kid.

Wow, I'm watching this New Year's Day 2024!
A lot of good memories with John, he sure could do it all and I surely do miss his guitar.

To much fun!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love John Denver & the Muppets! A time that has passed!!

Great to have performed this with The Muppets!*!! 😃😂🥰❤️
Sooo Sweet..smile
This is hilarious XD He plays the part so well!
Muito divertido! Saudades John Denver💕💕💕💕💕
Had no memory of this being a John Denver collaboration with the Muppets! Loved this song as a kid.
absolutely adore this song!
Poor old John.
He tried to do everything and paid a terrible price for it. When his guitar and voice was more than enough.
I'd add Ravens Child to that, very powerful song indeed about man's greed.
Classic❤
Watch it again! What a wonderful song!!!!!!!!!!!

I miss those variety shows. Now we get instagram people on fake reality shows
Fab-u-lous and thank you for posting x
priceless

0:27 Taken literally, “9 feet HIGH” suggests that it’s a very tall bed. It would be more accurate to say, “9 feet long.”
This video is funny.
They forgot to put the line in about John Reconsidering the part about "The Gal down the road"
song written by Brian Bowers
Notice how they left out he original lyric that he might not trade the bed for 'the gal down the road'..it's a kid's show, after all ;-)
Marko Kassenaar I don’t know what video your watching. You can hear him say that. Not sure what your talking about.
I guess we all at one time had a
"girl down the road"

The Angry Sports Fan yep, that's him!
