You need some kind of host software since it only works as a plugin. It should work with something as simple (and free) as Audacity. (keep in mind I haven't tried that yet, but maybe some one else can chime in)

Hi. I have just tested it. I have run VEA in Ableton and it did process live on monitoring without problems or glitches. There was obviously some latency (CPU depending - 112ms in my case, Mac M1) but if you can live with it, it works great!

Valhalla Vintage verb and XVOX together blows this thing away....LOL...the best "Cheap Way to get Good Vocals...is to use a Lewitt Mic with you interface....with any compressor going in...then Re Compress and EQ inside your daw....then add Vintage Verb and XVOX....Widener....and your good....level out with music...your good...lush...warm...but clean vocals that break through the mix right
