Europa Universalis IV | The Three Mountains - Part 1

- Considered to be one of the most difficult achievements available in EU4, the "Three Mountains" achievement requires a total world conquest while playing as the tiny, impoverished island nation of Ryukyu. It's considered to be a true test of skill for the best players in the world. I am certainly not one of those players, so I'm be relying on exploits and overpowered strategies in this achievement run; specifically, I'm going to conquer Kyoto to become the Shogun of Japan and utilize the Daimyo vassal swarm.

Check out Siu King and Mr. Florryworry. They have done the Three Mountains numerous times. They have some good strategies.

Welp....considering my favourite thing about EU4 playthroughs is the early survival as a minor nation and the struggle against bigger nations...I feel like I'm gonna love this one

Same maybe it’s because I’m slightly on the spectrum and like the division of lands into small warring states.
Well then...this is going to be amusing. I am excited to see if Lord Pravus himself has what it takes to gain the achievement which less than one percent of players get. Then again, i believe in our lord, for he shall prevail.

One more "exploit" that could come handy later in the game. You cannot declare war for your tributaries claims, but you can threaten war for the claim, which - if the opponent declines - declares the war by itself. So you can delcare for tributary claim...
their not tributaries though... their daimyo's
@@shadowwarrior1003 It works for any kind of vassals, though I'm actually not sure if it would work for tributaries.
@@shadowwarrior1003 For daimyo's it works ok, but the trick is it should work also for tributaries if he gets some
@@KheydB I highly doubt he will get tributaries since that would remove the entire purpose of having the daimyo's as they would then cost diplo slots

actually, on most occasions, mercenaries are a disadvantage. Admin ideas make them better, but as ryukyu it's always better to train troops, because they are permanent and mercs are not.
@@duatia5315 I just tried a three mountain run and came close, but failed. I think I needed to be more aggressive earlier. I had 6 opponents left on the map. I had 1400-1500 troops and most were mercenaries. Once you get the spice flowing the cost of the mercs is ok. My Manpower never really recovered due to the constant warfare and mercenaries were the only real option. Had quantity idea group too in the mix.
Doesn't remember embargoing gives a casus belli, doesn't carpet siege after stack wiping

@@nicolopez2181 Or he can take the shogunate, get the vassalswarm, convert to Catholic/make the League Wars a draw so any faith can take emperorship, get the HRE, integrate the Japanese lands and then take the Mandate and maybe form Japan (or frankly any other tag) in the end. Now that'd be insane...

I don't know how your enunciation will develop as the series goes on (from the start), buuut.... The clear audio quality and good pronunciation of Japanese words has me hooked for the playthrough. :3 Looking very forward to seeing some Shogunate vassal swarmy goodness.

This run is quite easier now since the shogunate vassal swarm mechanic. But the triki part is getting the shogunate as Ryukyu and take down Ming early, exciting to see how this goes.

@@Dominus2911 Right, but it's a world conquest achievement run. There's no need to keep going if you've beaten the game, which either comes at 1821 or when there are no more lands to conquer.

Good on you Pravus, now is the time. Claim your position amongst the legends. Pass this, and you shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. The bards will sing songs of the EU legends: Arumba, Florry, and now, Pravus.
On another note, remember the new influence idea finisher, claims off vassals. As vassal swarm, it is OP, and influence is a must for shogun.

Even I disagree with a lot of stuff he is saying on his Dermocracy 3 Videos, I really enjoy his Tipps and Tricks on the other series. I guess in the end of the day even we have very different political views, Pravus seem to be the guy I would like to have a drink with.. Why is it called The Three Mountains? Like what mountains or is it just a name they gave the Achievement?
From a little googling, the Ryukyu Kingdom was formed from three states, and the period where all three states were independent (although tributaries of China) is known as the Three Kingdoms Period or the Three Mountains period, because these states all had Mountain in their name.
In EUIV, it also seems to be used as the name of one of Ryukyu's later national ideas.
