As a young adult, Carmen’s occasional porn habit turned perpetual, which he realized when he was looking at porn even when he didn’t feel like it. As a drug and alcohol counselor, he felt like a hypocrite because he was helping others in addiction recovery while struggling with addiction himself. Once he began recovery, he realized the importance of not letting setbacks discourage him from continuing to try, and of not being alone in his struggle.
In this episode, Carmen shares with us his story of recovering from his unwanted compulsive porn use, the significance of understanding the connection between pornography and trafficking in his continued recovery, and how he uses his story to help others.

It's amazing how powerful pron addiction is. It basically turns the mind into its own drug manufacturer, supplier, and dealer. No other addiction like that. The book The Porn Guru by Harper Daniels is pretty good for showing the stupidity of pron and how to stop using it.

Thank You! I relapsed yesterday and felt that I've ruined everything and have to start from zero. It just gets so difficult sometimes with the desire to watch some porn and think it's okay, I can start again the next day. It takes a lot of courage to open up to someone and even more so on a platform like CZcams. Listening to you helped me realise, I'm not starting all over. Being Porn free is a way of life and will come with consistent small efforts everyday. Much love for what you people do

Try not to lose sight of your own progress as well. Compare where you're at now to where you were. Keep educating yourself. You'll gather momentum.

I have find that my anxiety was the main reason for my porn addiction. After all i really didn't want to do it. It was mainly just something to do for the anxiety. After all it really didn't solve my problems it just made them much more worse.

I got hooked around the age of 16 or 17, now at age 60 I still struggle! Got clean for a year and a half back in early 2014, but fell and have not been able to get more than a few months at times since. The only times I've had any significant times of abstinence was preceded by a shock to my system. Utter terror of damnation! 🥺🤯😱 So bad that I could not eat or sleep for weeks! Those intrusive thoughts were far more hard to keep at bay than phonographic thoughts, there has to be a better way! 😰
