WoW 🤩 what a wonderful tune with great Somali Melody, i hope that my people gets these peace ✌️ words
we need more artists like k'naan truly a breath of fresh air in an industry that prides it's self on choking the breath out of the art
Oh the lyrics they dont only rhyme, they beat your heart and mind.
He connected the roots to the hiphop. Man has tallent and some charismatic thing about him.
Nothing to do with hiphop. This is an old Somali song from 1970s. Type Hoobaalayoow heedhe.
Oh Mama Khadiga i miss u so much ..you used to sing it to me when i was a child
classic knaan! love this tune even though i dont understand his somali words but still , i still know how to love this man
+doomsdaystrugler waqtikaas umada soomaaliya wexey ahaayeen jaahiliin. is that right?
Not really, i looked into the hoobal thing and it means "everybody" so hoobalayow heedhe means listen everybody. Hobaal can also mean singers or musicians as in "hobaladi waberi" and i asked some people from mii (baadiyo) and they said hoobaal means people and thats where the word hablo for girls and heblayo derives from. I thought it was the diety hubal too but it turns out it wasnt and our forefathers only had one diety WAAQ but then there were other personalities like xuur (the angel of death) and baas/balaayo (the devil) and there were some female "gods" too but there was only one supreme God and that was Waaq so it turns out they were monotheistic but believed in intermediates too for example you would ask the female god to give health to pregnant women but she in turn would ask waaq etc. Just like some christians pray through christ even though they know he isnt the Father. Anyways interesting things.
Sir Benjamin Prevosa he loves you 2 bruh

waaaaaaaaaaaaaw its amazin kip dat sprit knaan am broud of you
Those who are non-Somali. I dont think the word Hobaaloo hee dheh means any thing in English its just a melody we sing. In Somalia when nomads are watering their cows, camels, sheep or any thing they often develop their own melodies to make them forget the work and make time pass. This is the origin of our poetry. We often begin with a well known melody and end it the same manner. This is the same. Its like Latino's CHA CHA
Thanks for that
@Jacob Nkem . I am a Somali Historian , Hoobal means 'Artist" in Somali language and he was the sacred ancestor of Somali Art ! Hee Dhe , means "say yes " ! Oh Artist ,say yes ! it is as if we ask permission to the ancestor of Somali Puntite Art ! The homeland of the pharaohs

Thanks for stopping by. Yah, it was quite an experience. Imagine... the timing of this in-store performance back then! Blessed!
@ShibisGurl4life Actually the people that use to inhabit what is now known as somalia did worship gods such as hobaal and waaq. These ancient gods are still used in modern somali today, such as the poem hobaalo hobaalaeey, and barwaaqo the term used to describe times of abundant rain, bar known as rain back then and waaq the god, meaing gods rain(waaqs rain),

thats right bro, and that is pre islam, a.k.a in other words Before islam reached Somalia.. before we the Somali tribe of Africa, got converted to islam and eventually left out native Pharaoh'nic religions... of Hoobaal and Waaq... so yeah well said bro, i see you still acknowledge the stpry about our ancestors faiths.... stay blessed bro and stay educated

@Kayse2010 hobaalo hee dheh, very simply means hobaalo answear, as this was the god worshiped before islam reached somalia, this bobaalo poem, which is now know as was a way of communcating with hobaal, like a prayer performed by the people
