  • What can you do if a swarm already started making comb in a bait hive, swarm trap, or another empty box? With some care, these combs can be used.
We had a busy swarm season in late May this year here in Upstate New York! One swarm moved into a stack of empty nuc boxes and went to town building free comb inside one of the wooden nuc boxes.
Follow along as Betterbee beekeepers, Greg and Anne, transfer and secure this comb in wooden frames with wire and rubberbands (string is also a great option).

The wired frame makes the comb more secured I really like the idea

Amazing that tiny swarm was from somebody's marked queen.

Doesn’t the old queen leave with the swarm and new queen stay behind?
