One of the hardest things for me and songwriting is to tell the truth, and to be honest.
This song comes from some life experiences that I’ve had that caused me a lot of pain and it’s a pain that I carry, and sadness that I carry, and I thought maybe by sharing it other people might feel this way too. 
The fact is that I love my brother, and I loved my father, and I certainly love my son, and I don’t know why things don’t work out sometimes.
My mother passed away about seven years ago and New Orleans was her home. I lived there for about four years and didn’t think anything of it at the time, but right now when I go back there, it means a lot to me. It means family. It means good times it means peace and happiness. And great food ha ha.
