      I didn't like him when he was manager, loved to see him "get what's coming to him." Now I understand he had a role to play and he was the best at it.
      So many heals I didn't care for too, but now I love to see them talk about their time in professional wrestling.

    Heenan brings up a solid point here. Everyone needs to participate properly in order for the show to work for the fans. Both the heels AND the faces. If the Ultimate Warrior was not going to abide by his role, then neither Heenan nor any other heel he wrestled were obligated to abide by theirs. And yet Heenen did with the UW. Granted, I'm sure the money was a massive reason, and I can respect that and his honesty. But his desire for the fans to get a good show is very honorable.
    I don't know much about the Warrior, and of course he is gone now. But I would be interested to know what he thought of when it came to putting on a good show for the fans and how high on his list of priorities that was.

    It's hard to disagree with Bobby regardless how it makes you feel. He's probably the best worker in history... Yes that includes in the ring traits too. Where his bumping, selling, timing and general charisma with ridiculous heat elevated every guy 10 fold just by being in there with him. Dude was an incredible bumper. When people ask me who's the best ever? I always say Bobby Heenan.

    It always surprises me, the immense respect that Bobby Heenan had for the fans. I don't know why, but I just always assumed that someone THAT knowledgeable about the business, and that has been around for as long as he has, who has seen everything that there is possibly to see, and do everything that can possibly be done, would be tired of fans or interacting with them or dealing with them.

      Of course. Don't you remember when the Warrior press slammed Heenan over his head after they cheated at Wrestlemania 5? Lol. Also, he had to fulfill Ravishing's contractual obligations after Rude was suspended indefinitely from the WWE. What resulted was several matches between the Brain & the Warrior in which The Warrior put a Weasel suit on Heenan.

    • @PeaceDweller
      @PeaceDweller Před 5 měsíci

      I disagree about Bobby's point about Warrior not learning how to work. He didn't need to, his style and his matches made him a megastar to millions of people across the planet. The only one that came close to toppling Hogan in his prime as the number 1 guy. I remember Summerslam 1992 in the UK, other than Davey Boy winning the title from Bret the Warrior got the loudest pop of the night.

    • @geneanthony3421
      @geneanthony3421 Před 5 měsíci

      @@PeaceDweller working is knowing how to control the crowd to get the most out of the least. The best wrestlers don't take unnecessary bumps and protect themselves and others. They know how to keep the crowd where they want them.
      The criticism of the Warrior is that he didn't know what he was doing in the ring. He had tons of charisma but he hit people hard for no reason, didn't know how to set up spots for effect (like the Andre rope spot) and he put people in danger for no reason like dropping Bobby on his head instead of a safe atomic drop. Even running to the ring he'd blow himself up shaking the ropes as hard as he could. Later on he learned to animate that more. He needed others to carry him to a good match and than he'd crap on them later.
      Even though I was never a fan of Hogan, he knew how to work the crowd like nobody else. When he did something, he made the most of it. If he wrestled Bobby it would be a lot of crowd posing and anticipation around it and than it would be a safe bump protecting Bobby and most fans wouldn't notice. Warrior could have done a lot of his stuff safely, but he didn't care to improve. He would have still been Warrior, but guys wouldn't be getting stiff clotheslines for no reason.

      Most didn't but to the Warriors credit he has said wrestling for him was nothing more than a job. His family was what he cared about. Not hanging out with the boys. A lot of talent didn't like that. And people didn't like warrior because they wanted a technical wrestler. They liked him for exactly what they saw in the ring. Doesn't mean Warrior was a great human being. But he had his reasons for how he was in the ring.
