Just want to awnser some of the questions for the comments, as I am a Ryfast-ologist. For one, the concreete in the ends (the portals) serve as extra structure in the weaker outer layer of the mountain. All of the inner walls are sprayed with spray-concrete. A thin layer to act as a structural and waterproof shell of the tunnel. I do think ryfast will be "all-portal" and a smooth tunnel wall. It appears as such in the newest images from the record "Ryfylke tunnel". Because of the "spraycreete", there is not rock. We are Norway, not the US. We care about our roads. And it would be silly to let people drive through there at 80, if there are larger gravel on the tarmac. Never will I understand the US and the rest of the world apparently not caring for their tunnel. For some side info. The Rogfast tunnel will outperform Ryfast. Rogfast will stretch around 25,500. meters when it opens in 2023. Making it the longest and deepest sub sea road tunnel. The tunnel will dive to 400 meters under sea level, several times deeper than denmark is tall.
Speeding in this tunnel is expensive as it have speed cameras that measure average speed from point A to B, and are placed the whole length. So getting a panic attack if driving in the night, when meeting anyone inside is unlikely can become pretty expensive. It takes 18 minutes to drive through.
Hi, would it be possible to re-post the video with just the natural sound?. The place where I live are looking into building tunnels and I'd like to share the video on Facebook. Thanks.
those area as far as I can see because I am civil engineer there are made of sprayed concrete which is actualy very strong but usualy very thin to make it a proper material for that purpose.
there were no rocks on the tarmac :)) the tunnels are in very good shape.... I guess they cover the the ceiling of the tunnel with something...even though it looks bare rock.....
Yeah I had a similar reaction ...... it seemed to me that most of the tunels in Norway were drilled and then left without being reinforced with concrete. But I might be rong... Thx for watching
Hey there, great video! We here at the MailOnline would absolutely love to have your permission to run a small section of this in an article on our website (www.dailymail.co.uk) which talks about the tunnel? We will of course credit you and link back to this video! Please do get in touch and let us know either on here or at websitevideo@dailymail.co.uk Look forward to hearing from you! All the best!
I've been riding through this tunnel a week ago, i didn't know about the blue light caves; it was like i drove right into a fairytale.

Lot more fun to drive at the Laerdal Tunnel in Norway!!

and i thought that grand central station tunnel in new york city was cool,, i must have been crazy then...
24.5 km long if anyone wonders. (24,509m)
norway ownes, i'm lucky to be from norway;)
i've seen several video's of this tunnel.. what i don't unederstand is arent the wall made of concreet in these rest area's?
WooW
I guess the mountain is strong enough. At places where the mountain is not so strong, the reinforce it with concrete.
thats really weired!.... What about falling rocks? sounds crazy..
