  • Shugendo is faith to revere nature.Mt. Hiko (Hikosan), rising 1,199m above sea level in the southern part of Fukuoka prefecture of Kyushu, Japan, is one of Japan’s three major mountains for ascetic practice (shugen), along with Mt. Haguro (Hagurosan) in Yamagata prefecture and the mountains of Ōmine (Ōminesan) in Nara prefecture.
