This is what was ringing through my head. This ain't a small 'woopsie doopsie' mistake type of thing. She used sensitive information to solicit financial gain from one of her patients. I think it could actually be considered bribery if OP did go through with it since we don't know what the money would be used for and further therapy sessions could be compromised because of the monetary incentive. Yeah 20 dollars is not a lot NOW but it sets up a weird future precedent that could be increased with time too.
I think that it would be considered Financial Abuse or at least attempted Financial Abuse to try and coerce a patient into giving you money. Although, I am guessing that they are in the US so I'm not 100% sure what laws or regulations apply over there with regard to protecting patients from abuse.

Story one: Not only do I not believe that they didn't hear her, but there are 2 of them! One of the inlaws could have helped OP, and one could have comforted the baby!

My mom, who was still out of it as a result of a c-section, once fell in the hallway of her parents house when she went to feed me when I was a baby. She said that I screamed because I heard her scream in shock and my grandparents ran to both of us. Grandma was holding me and grandpa was helping my mom up. They were outside enjoy the cool weather at the time. They. Were. Outside! Ops inlaws were idiots!!
as someone who is disabled, I have a rule for myself, I'm more than willing to answer question IF they're respectful. if that's not met, tough shit, we, as in anyone who is disabled, are not obligated to share our life details with you, espascially because for plenty of us it relates to hardships.
Agreed 100% so many people ask me about my disability but I only engage with the polite ones. Far too many people seem to think they are entitled to details of a medical condition.

My grandfather had the best response to this ever, which he stumbled into purely by accident. When he was a child, he was out near a railroad construction site and found a blasting cap which went off in his hand, blowing off several of his fingers and rendering him blind. As an older man, he started to get a little scatter-brained and forget words. So he was asked: "How did you lose your sight"... "My mother always told me 'Don't play with that thing' but I didn't listen to her and I went blind". It made sense to him, but it was clearly misunderstood by the nurse he was telling, lol. He was a very proper and very shy man, old-school Catholic, and I didn't have the heart to tell him. Thank God he couldn't see the look on her face, he'd have been mortified, lol.
I am disabled and the last time I was in the hospital - PE/DVT issues - I have a certain rare condition (scrotal edema, google it but it ain't pretty!) I soon felt like the geek in an old-fashioned sideshow tent. A doctor would bring a group of young interns in to see me. I told them I was going to start charging admission to "see the show,"! 🤨
I like that idea: if adults ask you politely about it, answer honestly, because they're obviously curious and concerned. If they're being rude about it , then, yeah, screw them.
Story 3: What's her problem? Invading people's personal spaces, trying to pry into other people's lives, and then getting upset when the energy was returned. Like, is she trying to bully disabled people?

Crazy woman’s friends are just as trashy expecting OP to put herself in a very vulnerable state for an ungrateful stranger. As a disabled person, I can tell you with all confidence that you would not believe how many people think that they have a right to our medical information just because they’re curious. People like this are nosy and don't view disabled people as people, so they feel entitled to know what's wrong with a disabled person. That, or they think anyone who is young and disabled is lying and want then to prove it, because only the elderly are disabled in their eyes.
Story 1: It’s funny actually, Op has an out for whatever the in laws say. 1) They actually DIDNT hear her yelling for help, in which case they aren’t safe to be around for situations like this. 2) They DID hear (which is what happened) in which case they don’t care about Op’s safety. Either way Op has ALLL the proof she needs to keep them away from her. NTA Op, while i’m glad husband is standing by you, he needs to be more on your side imo. Good luck.

I am glad the boyfriend/husband is on her side. I can understand his hesitancy though because you would not want to think your parents are really like that. That would be a really hard situation to be in if you don't have a****** parents normally. Lol I'd believe it if somebody told me my mother acted that way. But if you told me my dad acted that way I would have such a hard time believing that in my mind that he could even be that way, though I would still be on your side because you're my spouse.
Sorry, I don't understand the logic for point 1. How is OP better off by herself then she is with them around to do the things they can still do that don't revolve around hearing? Would she have been better off if she fell down the stairs with nobody else home and no one was watching the baby for 10 minutes then she was when she fell down the stairs and had people watching the baby but who didn't hear her to go help?
Just with how many stories where the solution is simply 'if it's not a big deal then YOU pay it' just gets tiring to hear, since it's gotten to the point where it happens over and over and over and over again
Story 3: people are too comfortable treating visibly disabled people as almost less than human (if not entirely less than human). If the woman was like a small kid, I could understand asking and not realizing how personal that can be. But sounds like she was at least a teenager, probably older, and she should know better by now.
Wasn't too long ago people literally put them in circus attractions. The even more disgusting thing is that this was one of the best ways for them to make money, and some even became wealthy that way 😧😧

Story 2: Dude you can't cross a burned bridge. It's burnt down, there's no bridge. What is it with people like this? Be it parents, former friends, children, stepchildren. They think they can put the bridge or village to the torch, and somehow it'll still be there when they need something. With the second story, I am a little on the fence about it since OP didn't mention how she tried to build up that relationship with her stepson. He already had to lose one mother who abandoned him and he was probably terrified that if he got too close to this new woman in his dad's life that she'd do the same thing. Sometimes I feel that people entering into a relationship where there's children force themselves too strongly on their stepchildren and expect them to have a tight relationship. That said, I feel that if the stepson came to the realisation that this woman was his mother and that she loved him as her child that there are a lot better ways to rebuild that relationship than outright demanding his stepmother (who he rejected) to do the same thing that she's doing with his siblings for him. In this case, I don't believe that any bridges were burned. It seems to me that they were never built in the first place and that's okay because that means that both parties can build them up together.

Last story: 100% the therapist tried to take advantage of their patient, that was seriously messed up. Major breach of trust, might even require reporting. Imagine she was doing this to other, more vulnerable/more suggestable patients.
Completely agree with you. Maybe it’s different with therapists, but I know a doctor’s office cannot accept insurance and then ask for additional funds (legitimate copays are different). You either accept the insurance or accept private pay. You can’t double dip. The doctor would lose their license if they did that. Plus, it’s the therapist’s own issue that the insurance doesn’t pay well. She should have taken it up with them or just not accept that insurance. Insurance companies enter into a contract with providers and have a contracted rate. You never get the exact rate, but something close if the provider is properly billing. The fact the therapist is putting that onto the patient-- she should lose her license. Like you said, she is probably doing this to others.
@@JamesDavy2009 Definitely no slight on therapists. To be fair, not all therapists are medical doctors or have PHDs. A lot are LCSWs, LMFT, or LPC (just to name a few), which is also great. I was talking in regards to how it is for a MD, NP, PA or PMHNP provider entering into contract with insurance providers, since that is what my experience has been as a previous behavioral health and then a primary care practice manager. Since I don’t have experience w/ other types of providers (I can’t remember if the story mentioned the therapists credentials…), I can only guess it would be something similar
Story 1: OP mentions a few things in the comments that paints a very good picture what is going on here. 1)She's read the JustnoMIL subreddit and its stirred up memories of these people. 2)SIL is FIRMLY on OP's side because guess what they treat her the exact same way. These people don't give a flying rats petard about the Mothers of their grandchildren, they ONLY care about the babies.
Also, for story 1: Even if they didn't hear OP, wouldn't they think it odd that the mother of a baby didn't come to comfort them from crying after 10 minutes? If I were in that situation, I'd go looking for the mother.
I hate bad therapists, that last store made me sad. I have a great therapist now but I’ve had bad ones in the past. I hope OP doesn’t give up on therapy completely

I absolutely loved rSlash's reaction to the parents who ask OP for money and give it to her no-good brother. If you're a decent person it will never stop baffling when all aunts, uncles and cousins creep out of the woodwork to admonish someone when they put an end to being exploited.
That last story. She should have got at least 2.5 that therapist put him in an awkward situation. Knowing that a lot of people would just say yes, even though they didn’t want to. She’s in a position of power, and she try to use it for her financial gain against somebody that she’s already getting money for….. Now that I think even more about this. 4 out of 5 at least.

Please try. Low key beg of you to try. You deserve the support of a professional. The fear of getting someone who’s not gonna be good for you is valid. But there are so many people who joie that profession to help. And like this op did. You can fire a bad therapist. You can tell them when they cross a line. And you can report them. Your worth the effort of shopping around for a professional that can help you.
Reminder that there are way more good therapists than bad ones. Don't let the possibility stop you from getting help. And you can always change therapists if you don't like one.

Story 2: I hate people who are adopted or have stepparents and think they are not their parent but when it comes to them having kids, they magically assume they would step up as “grandparents” You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You chose to exclude them from your life, they don’t owe you anything because you don’t know how to parent the kid of a person you knocked up.
The first story scares the crap out of me. I'm aware that MAYBE, and that's a huge effing MAYBE, the inlaws are hard of hearing... But even then. They heard the baby cry... I'm legitimately struggling to figure out how they "didn't hear" the OP's fall. They've got to have ignored them on purpose. And, gosh, I sure have hated some people before, despised them even. But even so, I just CANNOT imagine not investigating upon hearing a commotion as big as somebody suffering a fall. Which might sound like a dramatic way to phrase it, but remember that the OP described struggling to get back up and walk over to the MIL. I think they're lucky they could at all, it would have been super duper easy for the fall to result in such bad injury that they couldn't get back up at all. To outright ignore somebody in such a predicament calling out for help is colder than the ice age. To have to be around somebody like that is SCARY. Who knows what else the inlaws are capable of?
I agree. I also haven't seen anyone else mention this, but my first thought if I was the grandparents, and I find the baby crying all alone, I would immediately look for where mom is, and wonder why she isn't immediately checking on the baby.
100% What if op broke her neck or injured her spine? How long would she be left on the ground for. 10 minutes is way too long. They definitely heard her. They are seriously monsters. Shouldnt be near any babies, and lets go with their lie and say they truly didnt hear her? TW: Seizure/blood Story 1: I have a 5 month old and personally, I don't like my baby crying out for a long period of time. I(21) had an epileptic seizure in late September and two people were home, my fiancé(21) and little(18) brother. I hit the stove handle or floor hard enough, yelped out, and was bleeding from my eyebrow because I hit myself hard. My brother and fiancé came to my rescue IMMEDIATELY. My fiancé or brother called my mom, she came home immediately and took care of my son(3 months at the time) while my fiancé and I were at the hospital. Due to the emergency, my baby was put last. When I woke up my brother was with me, my fiancé getting everything, and my mom holding our son. The point of this story is even with a yelling/crying baby the injured party is still first. The baby will be fine 100%. There was more than one adult and things were able to be done all at the same time. OP could've been helped and the baby could've been taken care. Edit to add: I'm fine btw. Just had to drop my fall college classes for the time being. Haven't had a seizure in about 6 weeks🥺❤️🫶🏻5 more months to go to get my permit.
Story 1: “I stubbed my toe, but I did not cry like a baby. A baby does not have the lung capacity for what I did” Funny quote I think is from tumblr but the point is I guarantee I could yell legible words louder than a scared baby crying. And if the baby heard the noise of someone tumbling down stairs, again, I’m pretty sure an adult is able to yell louder than the thudding of their arms hits the steps. Then the MIL asks “What happened to you” meaning THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HEARD HER BUT JUST SAT THERE
MIL asked her what happened after OP hobbled into the room. People generally don't hobble unless something is wrong them. Ergo she didn't need to hear anything to have a reason to ask that question and you need to work on your gotchas.

I don’t know about you, but every house I’ve ever been in had walls thin enough to hear yelling from any room. Also since she fell down the stairs and didn’t mention climbing back up, that means they’re on the same floor. Typically open spaces like a living room and dining room do not have doors between them to muffle the noise, actually the stair case is typically right between the living room and kitchen. Realistically, how far away could the mom have been from the grandparents that would soundproof the house enough to not hear someone yelling for help but do hear a fussing baby. Make it make sense
Story one: I believe there was an update in the comments. OP made it clear that the stairs are really close to the living room where the baby was. She was calling her inlaws, screaming, for 10 MINUTES. She told her husband it was impossible for them not to have heard them and I don't remember what happened next.

Story 3: You can't ask someone a bunch of inappropriate questions then be upset when they start to ask you a bunch of inappropriate questions. If you're gonna ask me a bunch of disgusting questions then I'm allowed to do the same.
I've fallen twice in the parking lot in front of my apartment and each time someone walked right beside me and ignored me, wouldn't help me up. The first time it took me over ten minutes to get up and I was in absolutely terrible pain. I've wrecked my knee over it.
Last story: Im really sad that it sounds like OP is giving up on therapy entirely because of one bad therapist, that woman needs to have her licence revoked
Story 3 (the wheelchair user’s story): it’s unfortunate that this kind of thing happens all the time. I’ve had people come up to me in a bar and, without saying two words to me, start asking how I have sex. I’ve had people demand to know what my diagnosis is. I’ve had people injure me because they were trying to force “help” on me. I’ve had people put literal trash under my wheelchair while I was strapped in on a bus and couldn’t move away. Ableism at it’s finest.
Story 1: Even in the extremely unlikely event that the ILs were just so laserfocused on "baby is distressed" that they didn't hear OP, at the 30sec mark of soothing the baby they should have noticed "that's weird, OP hasn't rushed in yet to look after her baby" and one of them should have gone look for her. But they didn't and yes, it's definitely more likely that they malicously ignored her, maybe not in the "let's hope OP dies" way and more them just not caring about her at all. The fact that the SIL agreed with cutting them off also makes me think they did something similar to her as well.
That first story reminds me of a few months ago. I walk downstairs and dad randomly asks "Hey are you okay? We heard all this banging and groaning coming from upstairs". ...Thanks for coming to check up on me... what if I was unconscious because I fell in the bathtub? Did you suddenly break both of your legs and can't walk up the stairs? If you hear banging and groaning, maybe, oh I dunno... check up on it? If I was hearing banging and groaning from downstairs, I'd be down there to make sure it's the TV!
Your 'brain tiktok' regarding the husband who fell through the roof reminds me of a story of my parents. My dad was mowing the lawn and my mom took my baby self for a stroll. We were really isolated at the time, blocks of roads were made but it was all fields still, no other homes. Well, I somehow toppled over headfirst onto the pavement from my stroller. My mom began screaming. Absolutely hysterical screaming. My dad heard her over the lawnmower and dashed off of it still running. He ran a block to *pick me up off the ground to check if I was okay* Needless to say, they are divorced.
Well in the heat of the moment i dont blame him. It is natural to check on the small child who most likely cracked his head on the floor than go to the mom and see if they are ok while you are dying from blood loss. Sounds like a lot more went on than you think.

The point here is that the mom did nothing to help the baby who just fell on the ground. All she did was scream. Story 1: NTA. Honestly, I would've done the same thing as OP the moment when the MIL said "what happened to you?". Like lady, OP just fell down the damn stairs, and you both decide to ignore her completely and tend to the baby. I mean, c'mon! Priorities here man, OP could've broken her arm or leg! If my in-laws were this selfish, I wouldn't want their help either. "Feel awful for not seeing the both of you"? Not feel awful for ignoring a potentially mortally wounded OP? These people's priorities are messed up.
For story 1 and the Tiktok: not that it excuses it, but a baby's cry actually has a trigger on our brains. The reaction for every person is different, but almost everyone experiences an intense reaction. In most people it will trigger anxiety and maybe fear or anger, and it will actually cause your brain to hyper focus on it and tune out other stimuli. That said... That sort of phenomenon doesn't last too long until you "snap back." So, if OP was crying in the ground for 10 minutes, the grandparents surely would have snapped out of it enough to hear her at some point.
Story 3: that’s a moment for what I call non-rhetorical rhetorical questions. Ask the questions you normally don’t expect answers to and get them. Story5: I would recommend finding a new therapist if you need one. Don't judge them all by that one person - however, _that one_ I would recommend reporting to her ethical board for malpracice. It is possible she accepted a reduced rate to accommodate insurance and not put you out of pocket, but that should have been communicated up front.

I have seen the first story before. At first glance you would seem right, the grandparents are AH, but some people have taken apart the story, it's updates, and any comments by OP and determined that she is inconsistent in her details. This means that either the story is fake or OP is writing the story to fit her narrative.

Dang, I don't have the relationship I've always wanted with my mother-in-law, but I know unquestionably that she would come running if I fell down the stairs! Even if there were unpleasant comments after it turned out I was okay (I don't think she would, just worse case scenario) I absolutely know she'd thoroughly make sure I was okay and get me to the hospital if that's what was needed.
Story 3: I’m also disabled and a wheelchair user and it’s wild the questions complete strangers will ask you. I’ve gotten to the point that I tell people it’s incredibly rude to ask these questions. Absolutely NTA.
Story 2 NTA. Though personally I’d probably still watch the kids. Given their dad’s behavior, they likely haven’t spent much time with your side of the family and I’d want them to feel included in spite of their dad. And also long term, building a good relationship with his daughters could lead to some revenge moments down the road
The story about the woman asking inappropriate questions to a handicapped lady - your response was good, no matter what others say. However, I learned a technique to shut these people down that I think you might like as well. When someone asks you something that’s none of their business or that you don’t want to answer, respond with “why do you want to know my personal information?” That shuts them down and leaves them on the spot.
To be fair to your reaction to Story 1 it makes sense to get the toddler away from what could be some potentially sharp and dangerous debris so that you don't have 2 injured people. But after getting them away and making sure they don't/can't come back over (which should take no more than 30 seconds) then she should have come right back.
There is no damn way they didn't hear her! I was thinking the same as R/SLASH.. They heard it because the baby did who was with them! That is horrible and disgusting how they couldn't care less about her at all.. This is what was ringing through my head. This ain't a small 'woopsie doopsie' mistake type of thing. She used sensitive information to solicit financial gain from one of her patients. I think it could actually be considered bribery if OP did go through with it since we don't know what the money would be used for and further therapy sessions could be compromised because of the monetary incentive. My mom, who was still out of it as a result of a c-section, once fell in the hallway of her parents house when she went to feed me when I was a baby. She said that I screamed because I heard her scream in shock and my grandparents ran to both of us. Grandma was holding me and grandpa was helping my mom up. as someone who is disabled, I have a rule for myself, I'm more than willing to answer question IF they're respectful. if that's not met, tough shit, we, as in anyone who is disabled, are not obligated to share our life details with you, espascially because for plenty of us it relates to hardships.

My grandfather had the best response to this ever, which he stumbled into purely by accident.
When he was a child, he was out near a railroad construction site and found a blasting cap which went off in his hand, blowing off several of his fingers and rendering him blind. As an older man, he started to get a little scatter-brained and forget words. So he was asked:
"How did you lose your sight"...
"My mother always told me 'Don't play with that thing' but I didn't listen to her and I went blind".
It made sense to him, but it was clearly misunderstood by the nurse he was telling, lol. He was a very proper and very shy man, old-school Catholic, and I didn't have the heart to tell him. Thank God he couldn't see the look on her face, he'd have been mortified, lol.
I am disabled and the last time I was in the hospital - PE/DVT issues - I have a certain rare condition (scrotal edema, google it but it ain't pretty!) I soon felt like the geek in an old-fashioned sideshow tent. A doctor would bring a group of young interns in to see me. I told them I was going to start charging admission to "see the show,"! 🤨
I like that idea: if adults ask you politely about it, answer honestly, because they're obviously curious and concerned. If they're being rude about it , then, yeah, screw them.

Story 2: Dude you can't cross a burned bridge. It's burnt down, there's no bridge. What is it with people like this? Be it parents, former friends, children, stepchildren. With the second story, I am a little on the fence about it since OP didn't mention how she tried to build up that relationship with her stepson. He already had to lose one mother who abandoned him and he was probably terrified that if he got too close to this new woman in his dad's life that she'd do the same thing. Sometimes I feel that people entering into a relationship where there's children force themselves too strongly on their stepchildren and expect them to have a tight relationship.
That said, I feel that if the stepson came to the realisation that this woman was his mother and that she loved him as her child that there are a lot better ways to rebuild that relationship than outright demanding his stepmother (who he rejected) to do the same thing that she's doing with his siblings for him. In this case, I don't believe that any bridges were burned. It seems to me that they were never built in the first place and that's okay because that means that both parties can build them up together.

Last story: 100% the therapist tried to take advantage of their patient, that was seriously messed up. Major breach of trust, might even require reporting. Imagine she was doing this to other, more vulnerable/more suggestable patients.
Completely agree with you. Maybe it’s different with therapists, but I know a doctor’s office cannot accept insurance and then ask for additional funds (legitimate copays are different). You either accept the insurance or accept private pay. You can’t double dip. The doctor would lose their license if they did that. Plus, it’s the therapist’s own issue that the insurance doesn’t pay well. She should have taken it up with them or just not accept that insurance. Insurance companies enter into a contract with providers and have a contracted rate. You never get the exact rate, but something close if the provider is properly billing. The fact the therapist is putting that onto the patient-- she should lose her license. Like you said, she is probably doing this to others.

@@JamesDavy2009 Definitely no slight on therapists. To be fair, not all therapists are medical doctors or have PHDs. A lot are LCSWs, LMFT, or LPC (just to name a few), which is also great. I was talking in regards to how it is for a MD, NP, PA or PMHNP provider entering into contract with insurance providers, since that is what my experience has been as a previous behavioral health and then a primary care practice manager. Since I don’t have experience w/ other types of providers (I can’t remember if the story mentioned the therapists credentials…), I can only guess it would be something similar

These people don't give a flying rats petard about the Mothers of their grandchildren, they ONLY care about the babies.
Also, for story 1: Even if they didn't hear OP, wouldn't they think it odd that the mother of a baby didn't come to comfort them from crying after 10 minutes? If I were in that situation, I'd go looking for the mother.

I absolutely loved rSlash's reaction to the parents who ask OP for money and give it to her no-good brother. If you're a decent person it will never stop baffling when all aunts, uncles and cousins creep out of the woodwork to admonish someone when they put an end to being exploited.
That last story. She should have got at least 2.5 that therapist put him in an awkward situation. Knowing that a lot of people would just say yes, even though they didn’t want to. She’s in a position of power, and she try to use it for her financial gain against somebody that she’s already getting money for….. Now that I think even more about this. 4 out of 5 at least.

Please try. Low key beg of you to try. You deserve the support of a professional. The fear of getting someone who’s not gonna be good for you is valid. But there are so many people who joie that profession to help. And like this op did. You can fire a bad therapist. You can tell them when they cross a line. And you can report them. Your worth the effort of shopping around for a professional that can help you.
Reminder that there are way more good therapists than bad ones. Don't let the possibility stop you from getting help. And you can always change therapists if you don't like one.
Story 4: If OP wants to continue helping her parents, she can buy the basics plus a couple other things and take it to her parents. Or she could let them shop and she meet the parents at the checkout to buy their food. I hope she's done handing the money over

I think they're lucky they could at all, it would have been super duper easy for the fall to result in such bad injury that they couldn't get back up at all. To outright ignore somebody in such a predicament calling out for help is colder than the ice age. To have to be around somebody like that is SCARY. Who knows what else the inlaws are capable of?

TW: Seizure/blood
Story 1: I have a 5 month old and personally, I don't like my baby crying out for a long period of time. I(21) had an epileptic seizure in late September and two people were home, my fiancé(21) and little(18) brother. I hit the stove handle or floor hard enough, yelped out, and was bleeding from my eyebrow because I hit myself hard. My brother and fiancé came to my rescue IMMEDIATELY. My fiancé or brother called my mom, she came home immediately and took care of my son(3 months at the time) while my fiancé and I were at the hospital. Due to the emergency, my baby was put last. When I woke up my brother was with me, my fiancé getting everything, and my mom holding our son. The point of this story is even with a yelling/crying baby the injured party is still first. The baby will be fine 100%. There was more than one adult and things were able to be done all at the same time. OP could've been helped and the baby could've been taken care.
Edit to add: I'm fine btw. Just had to drop my fall college classes for the time being. Haven't had a seizure in about 6 weeks🥺❤️🫶🏻5 more months to go to get my permit.

And if the baby heard the noise of someone tumbling down stairs, again, I’m pretty sure an adult is able to yell louder than the thudding of their arms hits the steps.
Then the MIL asks “What happened to you” meaning THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HEARD HER BUT JUST SAT THERE
MIL asked her what happened after OP hobbled into the room. People generally don't hobble unless something is wrong them. Ergo she didn't need to hear anything to have a reason to ask that question and you need to work on your gotchas.

I don’t know about you, but every house I’ve ever been in had walls thin enough to hear yelling from any room. Also since she fell down the stairs and didn’t mention climbing back up, that means they’re on the same floor. Typically open spaces like a living room and dining room do not have doors between them to muffle the noise, actually the stair case is typically right between the living room and kitchen. Realistically, how far away could the mom have been from the grandparents that would soundproof the house enough to not hear someone yelling for help but do hear a fussing baby.

I've fallen twice in the parking lot in front of my apartment and each time someone walked right beside me and ignored me, wouldn't help me up. The first time it took me over ten minutes to get up and I was in absolutely terrible pain. I've wrecked my knee over it.

Story 3 (the wheelchair user’s story): it’s unfortunate that this kind of thing happens all the time. I’ve had people come up to me in a bar and, without saying two words to me, start asking how I have sex. I’ve had people demand to know what my diagnosis is. I’ve had people injure me because they were trying to force “help” on me. I’ve had people put literal trash under my wheelchair while I was strapped in on a bus and couldn’t move away.

That's unfortunately a cold fact of nature-we as animals subconsciously try to keep the disabled out of the gene pool.
Story 1: Even in the extremely unlikely event that the ILs were just so laserfocused on "baby is distressed" that they didn't hear OP, at the 30sec mark of soothing the baby they should have noticed "that's weird, OP hasn't rushed in yet to look after her baby" and one of them should have gone look for her.
But they didn't and yes, it's definitely more likely that they malicously ignored her, maybe not in the "let's hope OP dies" way and more them just not caring about her at all. The fact that the SIL agreed with cutting them off also makes me think they did something similar to her as well.

Your 'brain tiktok' regarding the husband who fell through the roof reminds me of a story of my parents. My dad was mowing the lawn and my mom took my baby self for a stroll. We were really isolated at the time, blocks of roads were made but it was all fields still, no other homes. Well, I somehow toppled over headfirst onto the pavement from my stroller.
My mom began screaming. Absolutely hysterical screaming. My dad heard her over the lawnmower and dashed off of it still running. He ran a block to *pick me up off the ground to check if I was okay*

The point here is that the mom did nothing to help the baby who just fell on the ground. All she did was scream. Story 1: NTA. Honestly, I would've done the same thing as OP the moment when the MIL said "what happened to you?". The last story: Firing the therapist isn't enough. She needs to be reported.
For story 1 and the Tiktok: not that it excuses it, but a baby's cry actually has a trigger on our brains. The reaction for every person is different, but almost everyone experiences an intense reaction. In most people it will trigger anxiety and maybe fear or anger, and it will actually cause your brain to hyper focus on it and tune out other stimuli. That said... That sort of phenomenon doesn't last too long until you "snap back." So, if OP was crying in the ground for 10 minutes, the grandparents surely would have snapped out of it enough to hear her at some point.
Story 3: that’s a moment for what I call non-rhetorical rhetorical questions. Ask the questions you normally don’t expect answers to and get them. In this case, “who are you and why do you think your entitled to my medical history? No, I’m serious. I want your thought process.” And force them to give an answer or slink away in shame.
As someone whose best friend was in an electric chair until his passing- the op is NOT the butthole. Im proud of that OP for standing up for themselves.

Story5: I would recommend finding a new therapist if you need one. Don't judge them all by that one person - however, _that one_ I would recommend reporting to her ethical board for malpracice. It is possible she accepted a reduced rate to accommodate insurance and not put you out of pocket, but that should have been communicated up front.

At first glance you would seem right, the grandparents are AH, but some people have taken apart the story, it's updates, and any comments by OP and determined that she is inconsistent in her details. This means that either the story is fake or OP is writing the story to fit her narrative.

Dang, I don't have the relationship I've always wanted with my mother-in-law, but I know unquestionably that she would come running if I fell down the stairs! Even if there were unpleasant comments after it turned out I was okay (I don't think she would, just worse case scenario) I absolutely know she'd thoroughly make sure I was okay and get me to the hospital if that's what was needed.
Story 3: I’m also disabled and a wheelchair user and it’s wild the questions complete strangers will ask you. I’ve gotten to the point that I tell people it’s incredibly rude to ask these questions. Absolutely NTA.
Story 2 NTA. Though personally I’d probably still watch the kids. Given their dad’s behavior, they likely haven’t spent much time with your side of the family and I’d want them to feel included in spite of their dad. And also long term, building a good relationship with his daughters could lead to some revenge moments down the road
The story about the woman asking inappropriate questions to a handicapped lady - your response was good, no matter what others say. However, I learned a technique to shut these people down that I think you might like as well. When someone asks you something that’s none of their business or that you don’t want to answer, respond with “why do you want to know my personal information?” That shuts them down and leaves them on the spot.
To be fair to your reaction to Story 1 it makes sense to get the toddler away from what could be some potentially sharp and dangerous debris so that you don't have 2 injured people. But after getting them away and making sure they don't/can't come back over (which should take no more than 30 seconds) then she should have come right back.

I think the bit of rSlash yelling “THEN YOU DO IT” needs to be clipped and shared everytime there’s a toxic family post on Reddit where a meddling family member wants to boss people around but doesn’t want to do anything on their own.

Story 1 I think we need more information. If the in law's have hearing loss they _might_ be telling the truth about not hearing OP, especially depending on the layout of the house. No matter what though, definitely don't fault her for being angry and hurt about it.

I had to pause for a minute to get the giggles out! 😂 And I remember seeing that exact TikTok! Babies cry all the time, usually it's something minor that doesn't need immediate attention. Someone falling thru the damn ceiling, or falling down the stairs, DOES require immediate attention! That OP is 100% NTA.
Story 1: I’m actually really concerned for this lady as my uncle became a quadriplegic from falling down the stairs and the only other person in the house was his grandson who he was baby sitting.

Fourth Story, NTA: How is OP being a bitch? Just because she refuses to give her parents anymore money because its probably going towards her brother? Like this is a case or actions have consequences; they decided to give the $2k OP gave them to their son for a wedding he didn’t show up to

As for the last story, that might be worth calling in a complaint on the therapist. Is she's doing this, she might be doing other exploitative shit to her clients that aren't in as good a position as op.
Story 3 : I am very interested in knowing if that awful lady was part of an MLM. She might’ve been trying to get info in order to shill her scam. Idk- i’ve been listening to a lot of MLM content and heard stories of women acting like that to try to recruit people
