I am a lil confused as you say it did not work with your computer? I just bought one of these yesterday simply to used for Zoom webinars because the room we use has a concave ceiling and that raw audio is horrible. I spoke with the folks at Saramonic and they told me it will easily connect to my mac (because of its Device Speaker Enable function) and I will simply select the B-2+ as my audio input in zoom. Maybe you we referring to something different. I appreciate your review as you seemed very fair and open about the good and weak points. I hope for my very basic use (no field work at all) these will work for me. Cheers.
Edited March 08, 2024: I got it to work with my Pixel 7 Pro. 2 things to look for. 1) The adapter has to be plugged in from the clip side to properly align the connection pins. 2) Have the camera or audio app open and then plug it in. You should see the wired microphone connected pop-up. Worked great and no adapter cable needed, but good to know it works with those as well.
I usually do that. I thought I did at least once in this video.. That being said, it's good to know if the NR being on or off has any bearing on you if you make videos with background music which is why I generally try to do both.
The mic sounds better than your review of it. The wind wasn’t as bad as you said it was. We know it doesn’t record, evidently the people who are watching understand that’s not a dealbreaker. I can record in another software such as audacity, etc..
The mic sounded fine. Not great, but fine. I disagree, however, that the wind wasn't that bad. That was simply not broadcastable (except to show that it was not broadcastable). Their biggest failures outside of quality were that the product feels flimsy compared to the other options out there and they named it as if it was the more advanced version of their premium line of microphones and not the budget line that they are meant to be (which I didn't know until Saramonic told me when they saw the video). They aren't something I would recommend that you take in the field compared to other models and they are marketing themselves for disappointment.
You are expecting too much for such a cheap price, also. If one of your tuoch screen tx rx falls off your hand being small and tiny, No way youll be able to navigate i to your menus.
I get where you are coming from, but they did a bad job selling this. They named it after their pro line and when I brought this up to them, they said it was actually a sequel to its Blink100 series... so why did they name it Blink500 after their pro series? So instead of a toned down version of their pro mics, it was a slightly improved version of their worst mics with no features and a different name. To lose all of that and for the mics to feel cheaper and sound just ok... it wasn't an ideal experience. Had they called these the Blink100 B2+ and had they been pushed as an entry level option, a lot of the things would have been more acceptable.

Connecting to 2 devices at once makes up for the lack of being able to record backup file. You can record the audio track to your phone.
It's a fair point. I don't like to put my phone to work unnecessarily though, but then again, I have a number of mic kits
Need to take the background music off and keep talking to help notice any noise reduction
