  • I have tried SOOOOOO many systems…good systems…easy systems…so many systems. They never seem to work. I’ve come to realize that there are a few barriers that can stand in our way when it comes to sticking with a system. I’ve also learned that if I am not securely anchored in the eternal timeline, I can easily get swept away in the drain that is “what if?”
    Join me, and many of your favorite (and maybe a few you haven’t met) CZcamsrs as we embrace this CLUTTER FREE JANUARY COLLABORATION put together by Dawn at The Minimal Mom.
    We are talking PAPER CLUTTER this week, be sure to check out the playlist.

    I just happened to land on your channel.. all I can say is Amen!! My daughter wants to declutter our house and this is a little overwhelming for me since I am a sentimental hoarder! You definitely motivate me to start and bring the Lord into it. So thank you I will continue watching just subscribed and can't wait to see other videos!

    This is an excellent point. Sometimes we just need to trust that it’s going to be okay, rather than maintain a crippling fear that we’re going to destroy our lives by shredding a piece of paper.

    What a liberating concept: Nothing I do (or throw away) will thwart God's plan. Needed to hear this today! It seems at first glance that it goes against the teachings to be good stewards of our money, but I dont think it really does. I'm definitely gonna be pondering this today 🙂

    • @TheAtWhatCostBlog
      @TheAtWhatCostBlog  Před 3 lety +2

      I think we can do both. 😁 it’s all about balance. Stewarding Gods gifts...and passing along things that keep us from fully resting in Him.

    The mixed clutter boxes are a real struggle! I'm doing the Take Your House Back course and ended up digging through most of my mixed clutter this week. Sorting papers is hard work!

    My husband and I adopted two children with special needs and I can SO relate to what you said about paper not being just paper! We have had to use so much paper to advocate for disability benefits and special therapies for our kids. So tossing out paper that might be evidence for a future appeal causes so much anxiety for me. However, you’re right, in the end we have to just make a reasonable effort and keep our trust in Jesus.

    • @TheAtWhatCostBlog
      @TheAtWhatCostBlog  Před 3 lety +2

      Amen friend! I totally understand. Even when we “have” to hang on to stuff we end up finding a balance. Keep up the good work!

  • @jean1228

    You had me at the opening monologue! I have no less than 3 boxes/totes of paper that I needed to stash away and have yet to go through. But it was talking about the issues behind the paper that really resonated with me. What you’re adoption and school papers are to you, my Mom’s medical papers from her short bout with cancer are to me. I faithfully kept notes and all the many, many pieces of paper. They’re very different examples, but I understand. (I’m not ready to deal with that set of papers yet, but your words were hopeful. Thank you.)

    • @TheAtWhatCostBlog
      @TheAtWhatCostBlog  Před 3 lety +1

    Your words are freedom. I love that you incorporate Christ into everything you do and talk about. A wonderful encouragement. I wish i could like each video 10 times.
    On a side note, do keep the IEPs. (Which Im sure you know) As a former special education teacher the legal aspect of an IEP is huge...however you can request a copy at anytime if you lose it or really for whatever reason...and you may also request a new meeting whenever you wish and however often you find necessary.

    • @TheAtWhatCostBlog
      @TheAtWhatCostBlog  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! I have an entire drawer in our filing cabinet devoted to IEP’s, I just can’t seem to part with them. ☺️ the coupon from 2017....that I can let go of. 😂

      @sandyh8755 Před 3 lety

      I was just getting ready to say this when I saw this comment. I’m a retired special educator and I would suggest you just need to keep the prior year’s IEP and your current one. You can as Zmommy said, request a copy of any IEP, anytime. I would encourage you to think about how often you have needed an IEP that is 2 years old or older and let that guide your decisions. Don’t let this drag you down! Best of luck to you.

    I watched your video because you are in the Clutter-Free January line up. I want to tell you, from one mom of and IEP kiddo to another, you're not wrong about keeping detailed information about your kid's IEP's. We actually ended up having to sue the school district we were in to get my son put into a special ed school. After TRYing to work with the school, what felt like millions of IEP's (Really - at one point we had NINE in ONE month!), and my 3rd grade son asking me to kill him...I gathered "evidence" of all we were going through and presented 400 pieces of paper therapists evaluations, unmet IEP goals, letters to and from teachers and officials in the school district, ALL school meeting notes...on and on, to our lawyer. After TWO years of us begging for 'an appropriate education' to meet his needs, the school presented 20 pages of 'evidence'. Our lawyer whittled down ours to 150 pages for the judge. The school settled the next day. Fast forward to his mid-twenties, we had to PROVE to Social Security that he was disabled. More years of evaluation and court hearings, and pulling grade school evaluations out to show history... It took 3 more years to prove he is disabled. I only have one box of 'his old evidence' now; he's 40. It's marked for him - or his 3 brothers to help him, when I'm gone. I won't be subscribing to your channel because I'm not fond of being told about the bible when I've come for other information, just not my cup of tea. But, I really do wish you well and best of luck with your boys. :-)
