    There's one incredibly valuable skill that the highest level students and experts abuse to gain mastery of their subject and that is the teaching effect. Teaching can be done at any stage of learning and by anyone, but what does it take to be an effective teacher? In this video we explore best practices of teaching, the "who, when, what, where" and most importantly "how" of teaching.
    🙏 Thanks for watching!

      @@mariamyousifsr1c602 Before teaching, I have already read the book and have a good grasp of the topic/subject. When I am teaching, I explain the concept straight out of my memory. I don’t look at references. I try to connect the info as much as I can and I try to explain it in the simplest manner, using the simplest words. I have a mini white board with me. I would entertain questions while teaching, and if I do not really know the answer, that’s the only time I look at my references. Entertain as much question as you can. It will surprise you how much you still don’t know.

      YES!!! I did this too, we had a whole gc for helping during board exams and I remember constantly helping out and trying to simplify specific subjects for my friends to understand. I remember just constantly studying and teaching and helping out whenever I could during prep and then I ended up with full marks in all science subjects in the board exams. Some things to do during teaching my friends that personally helped me a lot was having read the material before hand, looking through previous test papers at a glance before diving into helping others and I also gave some mock exams by myself which helped with efficiency and finding out time saving tips.

    Honestly this is crazy 😂 I use this a lot for my fundamentals class in nursing school! When i started this, my grades climbed from just passing to getting on my last test a 88%. But with me I notice i have to focus the subject matters for the exam after each class then come exam weekend, i tend to use this method to teach people. When i could explain really well, i mark it off this big list of what i need to study. If im still struggling, I put an X on the material to refocus on it. One of the best methods to focus in but it also helps with my severe anxiety when I teach the material (cause it takes all that focus off the anxiety to speak about the topic).

    This is UNBELIEVABLE to me! I have been unintentially using this technique ever since primary school. When I was young I dreamed of having an older sibling who would give me advice and help me to groom myself in school. Honestly, I just wanted a person who would be wise enough to answer all my silly questions and make me feel loved but I never had one because I was the older sibling myself 😂 So I made this imaginary older sister in my head who was always kind enough to patiently teach me every subject at school even a night before an exam and, she would even swear at me for getting a question wrong only to correct me later. In reality, It was me talking outloud to myself in my room. I sometimes thought I was mad for doing so especially when my mom would hear me talking alone in my room. Anyways fast forward, this year I got enrolled into my dream medical university as a first year medical student and still use this method of learning to teach myself. Thank you Mike and Matty for sharing such useful study tips on your channel. Bless you both! 💝

    i have a white board in my home and i will imagine a bunch of students and start explaing them all the concept. at one point when i am teaching automatically i will get dounbts myself and be like wait , how do i explain this to the student? and i will read and understand and then do the teachimg.
    even diagrams and stuff i draw in front of my imaginary students.

    Brilliant, so many topics we hear repeteadly, but we still don't care, but in a random moment, we actually understand it, and start working on it, this happens even when you get taught about it for so many times, but all of them didn't work, except when the last teacher who taught you this random topic started to tell stories about it, or explain it in a way that you need it, or even say it in a way that makes it relate to you, and this teacher is just incredible, and he's the type of people, who will actually change your life 10x better, or even 100x better, and this happened to me, right here, I've been watching so many study techniques, and so many of them said teaching is a really good way, but I haven't even thought of doing it, but this time, they've forced me to do it, in a good way of course :D thanks mike and matty!

    teach to remember and truly understand
    teach like you're teaching a kid who knows nothing about the topic and who isn't interested in the topic
    you can talk out loud or record videos or write it down
    teach in study groups. make sure everybody has some idea of the topic so they don't derail you from your goal of teaching
    when you're studying something new
    -> relate it to something you know
    -> t tree
    -> you see a new concept. answer these questions:
    a) why is this concept important?
    b) the details
    c) how do the details make sense in the bigger picture (why are they relevant to the concept?)
    -> analogies
    -> teach to a kid without notes and reflect once you're done and plug those holes in your learning

They are always like how do you understand all this and I'm like I don't know I just do....but what happens is - they ask me question - I start explaining it (it doesn't matter whether I fully understand it or not) - I'm confused about something - I read it 1 or 2 or 3 times - understand it - start explaining again.

      Spaced repetition and retrospective revision will help, when you have that much to learn you need a good method to quickly identify weaknesses so that you can focus on them

    The techniques I use to study so far are active recall, spaced repetition, and teaching through typing.

    Can I ask you about a note-taking method called QEC i.e. question, evaluation and conclusion
 I heard that it’s one of the best and fastest ways to not only take notes but also comprehend and retain them
 can you make a video of that? It’s like a smart note technique
 thanks.

    Hi, Mike and Matty as a college student you've made me see studying in a new light! However, in the end, how would you end up retaining everything you learn PERMANENTLY? Would you just have to integrate it into your daily life and use it constantly? Would you have to flip through flashcards once in a while? Thanks!

      The more you use your knowledge to solve problems or create something new (application), the longer it sticks. Flashcards are amazing but aren’t as good as real application

    Problem with this method is you always need to rely on someone.I adore using Feynman technique.but for me I am only excited in learning process only when I teach to someone,otherwise I am busy in procrastinating things! I feel like teaching someone gives me dopamine surge.

    That's how I've studied most of medical subjects.
    I try to make it simple and to relate it to something they already know things around us, or use imagination, and start from the sentence in front of me and break it down using a lot of whys.
