Here at 45, and was coming here to post this almost verbatim. Having said that, from composition, to lyrics, to mastering, this is one of those rare "timeless classics" that actually merits the title.
I dont need a tv show to bring me here. I remember the original. The opening riffs still give me goosebumps......in my opinion The Smiths are underrated but never overrated. This has to be one of their finest tracks and a Johnny Marr masterclass.
This band is always overrated This is the only song they ever made worth listening to. You must like the song meat is murder. And something about the Queen song . the group sucks And I mostly mean the lead singer.
Yea coz you’re old no offence, I was five when I first heard this, and even though it was the shitty nu metal cover for that crap show my older sister watched, I’m still glad it led me to the original, this song is brilliant
It's DEFINITELY a masterpiece. No doubt about it. It's their 'calling card'. Not even "The Queen is Dead" comes close to this one and, it's nice and long so I don't have to replay it twice.
And my experiences after splitting up and starting to go to clubs on my own, although I never felt I wanted to die, only a tad lonely. But,at the end,I got used to it and started to meet people,so I was OK.
Adore the Smiths and this one always gives me goosebumps from the onset. Memories come flooding back, studying for Finals outside on a warm May day on the Arts Quad at Cornell and this blasting from someone's dorm room... music is amazing like that. I even remember what I was wearing nearly 40 yrs ago!
I'll never forget, back in 2010, the ringtone on my phone was the intro to this song. I was at my local mall. I was in Target, & went down the escalator. When I got to the bottem floor I went to turn left. My phone rang/intro to this song, & at the same time, Robert Deniro came walking by & gave me a weird look as if to say, "what's that noise coming out of your coat pocket ??!!"
This song brings back so many memories. Being madly in love. Being too scared to ask the girl out. Watching her go out with a scumbag. Finding her crying when he played her. Still too scared to ask her out.
When this song comes on, I have to stop and listen! The guitars are incredible and soook original. This is my favorite smiths song. Remind me of the 80s. Long live Morrissey
"See I already waited too long.... And all my hope is gone" but I waited longer..... And all my hope returned..... Then I waited longer.... And all my hope was gone again.... 😝🤪😝🤪😝🤪😝
I can't remember why this song was one of the first things that came to my head when I woke up from a coma I had at the hospital. I couldn't relate to the lyrics at the time. Nowdays, maybe a little, but still weird it was the first thought.
POV the craft has been your favorite movie since you were a kid and it’s been 12 yrs of trying to find the song in the movie and you finally found it 🎉
It’s been so long.... now it’s like.... Is it ever actually going to happen? How many more years of this? But I see her and she’s so perfect... Rare....... I’m hopelessly in love.... can never walk away.... But THEN...have I gone completely insane? Was it ever going to happen or am I delusional?
@@johnaustx if I feel that depressed then I remind myself of God’s love for me and that He is not gonna turn away and leave me. I remember that Jesus died on the cross for my salvation and that He is coming soon. I sing praises to Him and he lifts my head and heart.

To "fuse!" a tune like that...to create a tune like that...imagine being in the studio saying.."" ok..job done, ..see you tommorrow!" How could you go back to even try and improve youre quality....pure QUALITY
I have loved this song for so long, but I am terrible with fully hearing and understanding lyrics correctly. I certainly had them wrong. Now, listening to this while reading the lyrics, my immediate thought was, "All this time, I never knew it was the incel anthem!" Sadly, I can now also relate to the lyrics...
I was fortunate enough to see them perform this song live on their "Meat Is Murder" tour in NYC, which I believe was in 1985 or 1986. Marr said they rarely played this song live because of the multiple guitar lines which required another guitarist to sound right.
Hahahhahaha….. for the longest time I thought he was saying “I am the SUN, I am the AIR. Not “I am “Son I am the Heir”
I also thought it was “i am the summoner of nothing in particular”.
My friend thought Van Halen was singing head em off for Panama...haha

The lyrics pretty much describe my early experiences of going to nightclubs as a teen in the mid 90s.

Around 2006 to 2012 was the time I went to clubs the most, and they were kinda ok.
I think it's hilarious picturing Morrissey
