Hi. I own quite a collection of hi end portable radios. [ Sony, Grundig, Realistic, National- Panasonic.. etc.] I bought a R-108 3 years ago and gotta say that it is an amazing radio for just being AM only. I was very impressed with it the 1st time i fired it up and I am still impressed with it. I can stick it in my pocket so i can carry my coffee cup and other things when i go onto my back porch to relax and do some SWL listening. To me at least, The sensitivity just off the rod antenna is great along with the excellent audio from the tiny speaker. Love the selectable bandwith's also. Very excellent radio for the price. Had mine for 3 years and it still works perfect. Thanks for the great video on this gem of a radio.
Been a radio fan for many years, lots of decent radios, both budget and higher end, this is a great little radio for the price... That being said, after a month of waiting, the slow boat from China finally arrived with my new Malahit DSP2 SDR Receiver. It's not inexpensive, but WOW!! I've been comparing it to my first run, Drake tuned Eaton E1, and my Icom IC-7300, it's holding its own..Absolutely no regrets about taking a chance on this wonderful little unit..
I got the R-108 on your recommendation. Other than having to keep it plugged in to keep the battery from draining, it is a great receiver. Glad I have it.
I have this and the D-109 recently. I think the D-109 is a bit more sensitive, better reception. But yes the 108 is good, and it has air band what 109 doesn't. Therefore the 109 has micro SD for what I use it too.
Unfortunately, for me it's expensive. If I were to invest that much money in shortwave tree, I'll try to buy Sony or Panasonic or Sanyo or Toshiba. They are true gems and I'll die to buy Grundig

Thank you, I like SWL on inexpensive radios. After all; the audience most of the broadcasters are aiming at do not have elaborate radios and antennas.

Nice looking radio. Interesting that it has air band listenning capability. 73s
I really like the speaker audio on this one. Sometimes I bring it out just cause it has such a nice tone for voice broadcasts!
There's a new version for108 with type C power
Maybe it has better performance on bands!!

The speaker actually sounds decent on the Sihuadon R-108. Much better sounding than a CC Skywave SSB2 at a quarter of the price.
What country are you from?
Hello,Thanks for this Great report .Does XHDATA D-808 have the same advantages and who iS better?
Unfortunately, for me it's expensive. If I were to invest that much money in shortwave tree, I'll try to buy Sony or Panasonic or Sanyo or Toshiba. They are true gems and I'll die to buy Grundig
This radio is at least 1/5 the price of any Sony or Panasonic radio you will find
@@OfficialSWLchannel Indeed sir but they are worth every penny, don't you agree?
No, they are old and overpriced, much better with something new that is as good and often better than them
@@OfficialSWLchannel i respect your opinion. Yet my vote for them!
