Thanks for taking me along on the ride. You almost made it to Iowa Park but then you cut it. I used to live in Wichita Falls and drove 287 all the time. I stayed on the freeway though. I rarely drove through the business 287 since most places are closed down anyway. I used to exit that Beverly Drive on my way home from work at Sheppard AFB.
Interesting trip, I lived in Wichita Falls most of my life and left it in 1969. You drove through the original Old Town or couple of blocks from the original old town Ohio Street. Most of the newer parts of town are off to the S.W. - check out the worlds smallest skyscraper next visit.
Currently living in Brazil right now as a missionary for the Church of Christ. I'm missing home a lot (Wichita Falls) so this helped my home sickness a little bit. Thank you for this! God bless.
Actually, tons of history was missed in the commentary. Old manufacturing facilities employed thousands during the oil booms. Some of the old buildings in that area were hopping during the late 60s and mid '70s. Old bowling alleys from the 50's and big blue that was once the main bank of WF and the holder of many children's pennies from banking programs that once were part of banking Tuesday at grade schools. Does anyone remember "What's a BECO?" the old pier 1 imports, Sears with parking on the roof and, Woolworths?
at 104k people it's medium, not small but, definitely has the small town feel with a lot of MUCH smaller communities and towns based around the WF-minorplex
Thanks for this. I grew up in witchita falls, then moved away in 2001. This took me back.
Thanks for posting this! A nice drive down memory lane. Take care.
No problem
You are one heck of a good truck driver.. Great drive through, was able to follow you on google maps and see where you were and what we were seeing.

No problem
I really miss there…😢
👍
me waiting to see my car:
I read somewhere that Wichita Falls TX was known as the "The city that faith built.". Don't know if it's true.
You’re right. It is known as the city’s motto. Cool, huh?

Thanks for the information
Love the downtown area
Sure wish it was 54 degrees now we're under snow warning which is very unusual for us in Wichita falls

True
😊
You said forget the right lane huh lol
👍
You are downtown Wichita Falls
What's your favorite state to drive thru?
Can't pick just one they all have a season in the sun
If you like the old buildings you gotta go right in 7th Street and go see the worlds littlest skyscraper.
Got it on my list
I seen it and it was cool 😎 😊
You drove thru the wrong part of town. Nothing zone.
Had to see the old buildings
That's just Texas 😂😂😂
