  • Have some patch work that needs to be done on your car? I did too, so I took it upon myself to do some quick and easy diy Bondo work. It's not as hard as it may seem and can come out pretty decent even for an amateur. I recommend this if it’s temporary work, other professional results require a little more tlc!
Wear protective gear (gloves, safety glasses, mask, etc.) when handling, and get the work done professionally if you want professional results!

Cardboard soaks up some of the liquid from the bondo. It’s never recommended. Use something that won’t absorb. This repair won’t last very long. I can still see it plus it’s still rusty. Covering up rust won’t fix it for long. One good bump and it’s coming off.

Unfortunately bondo sticks fairly well to rust but keeps on spreading unless you seal the rust prior to filler application. Can't complain though, makes me a nice chunk of change when these get brought in after a few years to get fixed. Still baffles me why use bondo when there are so many alternatives out there.

Yeah it woulda been easier to mix your bondo on the bottom of that footbasin you had the cardboard on. Usually bondo pops right off flexible plastics. And I think you would be better suited using a wire brush if it’s a temp job.

Overall nice job finishing it but unfortunately because you didn't cut out all the rust that is just a temporary fix you did, because in less than two years that Rust is going to crack the Bondo and you will have to redo everything all over again the right way to do it is to cut all the rust out and weld a piece of metal in there then Bondo over it.

Yeah Steve's right, hate to say it but with all the misinformation on the internet it really bothers me when how to video creators have no clue how to do what they're trying to teach. But I've learned from experience if you dont grind or similar to bare metal you are actually making the problem worse. Rust is like an infection to the metal and instead of getting rid of the infection you trapped it and the only place it can go is healthy clean metal
